Looks beautiful. There's nothing better than vintage. I recently bought a Tamiya Neo Scorcher kit for bashing over summer. It's my first build since 1986 and the wing was an absolute nightmare. Must admit, I'm really impressed with it's performance; very quick on 2s with brushless - RC has come such a long way since the 80's. I remember thinking my RC10 Goldpan with its 27T Demon motor was quick but this Scorcher would leave it for dead and it's still much cheaper than the RC10 was over 30 years ago lol.The good old days and still the best looking cars. You've done a wonderful job as always. Looks fantastic.
I love building cars no matter how tricky, painting on the other hand, no matter how simple is a pain in the ass. Great job Glenn, have a cup of tea, you deserve it.
The spur gear is definitely touching the shell. I built 2 of them and had the same issue. I had to modify the original body trim lines quite a bit around the spur gear and around the 4 thru-bolts on the front bulkhead.
For paint leaks like you have on the wing there. I said it before and I keep recomending it. Alcoholic hand sanitizer and a tooth pick . Dip the tooth pick in the alchol and scrape the paint of with the wide end of the tooth pick. Maybe soak the paint a bit, but with fresh paint it's not needed. It will only remove the paint you actually scrape unless you overdose it like mad. You can do fairly hard lines, or at least recover some hard lines by stopping at the right place. The wood won't scratch the polycarponate, so you can rubb pretty hard. It's cheap and I use it for everything xD
Great Job Glen. I had a Cat back the day and although I'd love to still have it I remember it being a PITA to build with those flathead screws. (I stabbed the crap out of myself with a screwdriver several times trying to drive them into the reinforced plastic.) I remember it took me probably a month or close to it to complete the build. It was a great car. Your paint job looks great. It's hard not to be hard on yourself. I've been there.
Looks really good Glen don't beat yourself up so much. With the wing get a pot of paint to match whatever colour and pour some in the void till its all covered then pour it out again. Worth a go next time round.
Loving this one thanks for sharing very important information giving thanks blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
Might be time to pull out the airbrush for that wing like you mention. I also like that you get the option of mixing a custom color. But yours still turned out awesome.
Glenn. The wing on our xls, like yours was an absolute pain in the ar$e. The paint didn't seem to stick to it for some reason. Use a bit of black Sharpie on the outside. I bought a spare wing and it doesn't seem to have overspray film on it
Wow Glenn for all the fuss it came out beautiful bud!! I love doing complex paint it maybe a pain in the butt doing it but the finished product makes it all worth it. Top notch build and paint on a truly legendary buggy 😊
Back in the day I was a die hard Kyosho owner, I raced an Optima Mid and later a Lazer ZX so I didn't know much about the other brands. The ironic thing is, I worked in a shoe factory. :P
@@TAMIYALegends They certainly were Glen, after seeing these Cats being rereleased, Kyosho would be crazy if they didn't bring back the Mids and Lazers.
Hard work but yet rewarding. Great sense of accomplishment. Came out great. To get the lines more curved on the body you could have used Tamiya curved tape. No worries about the black mark on the front corner, there are so many decals that they draw your attention away if that makes sense. Another great video my friend.
Turned out great Glenn! Liquid mask is great on polycarbonate, a nightmare on ABS. Airbrush with Faskolor will end your wing troubles. I'm sooooo wanting this buggy 👊
@@TAMIYALegends Practice little with it on some cut of lexan. To get an idea of how thick layer to apply for it to be easy to peel of. Once you get used to it you can put it inside the body. it looks white at first but gets transparent when it dries. You can use a marker on the outside of the body on the plastic to mark borders etc. Then cut with scalpel after the marks in the ultra thin transparent masking after your lines on the outside . Keep sharp blade ultra low pressure. Peel off paint etc....... if you degrease the body inside you can get very sharp lines with minimal color fade..... just practice little first......
It came out great 😎👍 I use the Tamiya tape to mask the main lines and then regular painters tape for the larger areas. I have a hard time finding the Tamiya tape, so I treat it like gold lol
should always do your light colours first... so y then r then black same as in litho printing...... also use frog tape to mask :D the rubbing sound is the drive belt
