There's people that don't like grits??? That's just crazy, Big Lew! Those cheesy bacon jalapeño grits look delicious! That whole breakfast looks delicious! 😋😋😋
They a staple around these parts. I don’t understand why some snobby stuck up fancy people will turn their nose up to grits, yet brag about eating polenta. Polenta is an inferior substitute for grits. Yet, because polenta is European with a fancy foreign name they think it is better than southern grits. Thank Kevin.
I served a grits casserole (garlic & cheese grits) to a couple of neighbors (from Rochester NY) at dinner (45 years ago) They had no idea what grits were and initially were nonplussed. They changed their turn after the first bite...it was funny.
I bet. See the video I linked in the description box about explaining grits, I made it two years ago. I a lot of southerners don’t really know the difference either. 45 years ago there was no internet. Today, many folks from outside the southern United States will turn their nose up at grits, yet enthusiastically eat polenta. Polenta is inferior to grits, but because it has a fancy foreign name and a European origin they embrace it.
Absolutely delicious lookin' breakfast! I love makin' grits, and I totally agree. I ain't got time for mild food. I usually add Ghost or Reaper to my food. If I'm not sweatin' and cryin when I'm eating, it's not hot enough. Great video, brother 👍
Hey good video! I grew up on grits here in Newton county ar. Along with home raised sausage and bacon and biscuits and gravy and when we were lucky fried squirrel heads. I cook my family breakfast outside every weekend were all hime its a family tradition. Have a good week
I am going to go out on a limb here Big Lew and say that you need to invest in a BBQ lighter, nothing fancy but that old Zippo has seen better days! Awesome breakfast! Rootboy Approved! 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
I’ve got barbecue lighters, and that Looftlighter that I love. Yet last Sunday morning I knew where the zippo was, and not the extension cord or the long bbq lighter. It got the job done. Thanks watching. I saw about three quarters of your rotisserie video yesterday. I plan to finish watching and comment later this afternoon. It looks good so far.
@@Jimbocue Wow! How do you like the rocket stove? As for the lodge skillet I’ve had mine since November of 2013. So it’s a decade old. Those eggs stuck but it usually performs well. If you buy one here is my Amazon link. Your support is appreciated. Also linked in the description box too. amzn.to/44bmT9n
I like how you say, 'while you weren't looking'. Like what you did with the bread. Rock'n the sausage! Looks like some goodness made here, and hail to the Rocket Stove! Curious to see how much wood you had to use during this video. I am guessing it is pretty efficient!? Grits in the North is considered Soul Food.
You can do that with any thick sliced bread; Texas Toast, burger buns, left over dinner rolls, what ever. Thin sliced sandwich bread doesn’t work too well. Some breads like French or Italian work better than others. You didn’t need to see me crumble the bacon. The brutal carnage and mayhem such as that is not fit for a family show like mine. Thanks Paulie.
You know o had a plan to make hoe cakes served with cane syrup on it. However we had really bad weather that day, so I made them inside on my kitchen stove. I will one day though.
My wife went to Chicago back in 2008 with CVS. I had told her my former aunt in laws husband that was a steel worker during the non farming months went up and there were restaurants up north that served southern style grits. So yea northerners have some grit eaters up there
Super delicious bacon and cheddar grits! thumbs up...
Great cook on a fantastic stove🔥👍
Looks good. Love cooking breakfast outside. Green onions and a fried egg for me on top of my cheddar bacon grits!
Sounds good.
Watching this with my morning coffee. You are making me hungry. Lol
I never had grits, you are making me want to try them.
Have you ever had polenta? Well grits are greatly superior to polenta IMHO. Thanks for watching Greg.
@@BigLewBBQ I have had polenta. That gives me an idea of how grits taste.
Excellent all delicious I grew up eating grits and still do. I agree with you about only eating hot breakfast sausage. 👍
Yes no need for mild sausage.
Great video! Gonna check out one of those rocket stoves.
Looking good Big Lew!
Thank you!

Moved to Florida from up north as a kid. Didn’t know what grits were… I love them, cook slow for like 35-40 minutes.
Regular grits yes. Quick grits are faster but don’t have nearly as good of texture.
Buen platillo big lew keep it up sir 👍
I like that skillet
The cast iron on for the grits, or the carbon steel one I used for the eggs?
@@BigLewBBQ Carbon steel for the eggs. I bought the 8" Rocketstove

So much better when you put a fried egg in the grits instead of scrambled on the side
Yes that’s very good too. Sunny side up.
I made yellow grits this morning. You should whip up some pancakes on the rocket stove one day.
You know o had a plan to make hoe cakes served with cane syrup on it. However we had really bad weather that day, so I made them inside on my kitchen stove. I will one day though.
