Normally I don't like the syntesyser transcriptions, but since my childhood this is one of BEST transcription for my taste, maybe better like the original piece. Why ? Strawinsky's fantasy boardered very much by the symphonyc orchestra, which really able to play lot of different moodes, feelings, spaces, but boardered by the instruments. Isao Tomita realised for me the REAL wish of Strawinsky, the ideal soundspace of the Firebird. We known the russian story about Firebird legend, which is the base of Strawinsky's piece. But also, by this transcription we can hear our big central Firebird: the Sun's story on the sky, finally with innormous great protuberances, before as the quelle of the unlimited power against the cold winter...to be honest, Tomita's transcription very good opportunity to create a videoclip about the Sun, about Nature and about the unlimited, colourful life of the nature with and by the SUN.
I used to listen to tomita while reading science fiction when I was about 9 to 13 years old... this was the first album I heard. My uncle Pipo had no idea he would change the course of my life from that moment on... Forever grateful 🥲
all of Isao's music, made it easy to visualize what the songs are about. whether it is Firebird, or Planets, or any of the others,,, you put on the album, and close your eyes --- you can't help but dream it into existence... the Firebird, for me, is a huge Golden Eagle of flames. red, blue, pink and purple. ridding the world of the evil King Katschei, and ushering in the new leader...
This album changed my life ❤️🧡💛 My Brilliant, award-winning singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist/engineer father introduced me to the brilliance of Isao Tomita ❤️🧡💛
We did the Firebird Ballet 🩰 in Iowa City in:1993,or possibly in 1994,I believe it was?It was done during that summer of that year. Thus, ushering in some ballet talent from other areas of Iowa as well.As far as listening to Isao Tomita goes,it was always ‘s in the afternoon’s with no work at the dance 💃 studio,so,I could indulge in my pleasure 😇 of listening to Tomita!I still have a few of his album’s to this day!He was discovered by my mom 👩 in 1982.Which,I believe, was in the spring or summer of that year? And,as alway’s it’s “happy days’listening to Isao Tomita!
Always loved this album. I listened to it when it first came out (years ago) and still listen to it today. Timeless music by the late great Isao Tomita. TY for posting.
Every time I hear it I'm transported back to the first time I heard it and I just could not believe my ears such beauty as I had never experienced before!
Desde mi infancia escucho fire bird de Isao tomita ,me hacía soñar y sigo igual vuela mi imaginación .Bosques Solitarios y noches de Luna llena me eriza la piel , he tenido sueños surrealistas con esta música .
Everyone of all over the world mourns Mr. Tomitas death, and I thank as the same japanese . I knew to have been loveed by everyone of all over the world for the first time by this site . It is affected.
Sometimes I think of this Igor Stravinsky piece as the most beautiful piece ever written (and Tomita does it well). (His "Le Sacre du Printemps" to me is the most cacophonous piece ever written. ) By the same composer.
I was wondering why this sounded so bad then I read "using vinyl". Oh dear, that's a pretty wrecked copy there :-( I've got a mint english pressing so I might give it a shot too, will let you know how I go.
I see it as an insult to this great man cheapening his gift there is no product or service I would consider when my enjoyment of these sounds ruined 👍👍👍 for Tomita 👎👎👎 for misplaced ads in a tongue I don’t speak⁉️⁉️⁉️
...I used to consider this Tomita's most successful synth arrangement, but (mind is blank, sorry...)..."maybe" the thought was the idea of Asians taking "western" (well, Russian actually...which is potentially a little Asian) art music and reinventing it...no Austrian or English arseholes drooling over classical Greek and Roman statues...just total imagination without the need of objects or even a storyline...classical composers using texts of bad old "hubris" stories for inspiration; bad idea...Tomita sending their tunes into another dimension; good idea?...a fresh approach...but but (mind is blank, sorry...). Seriously, though, I do remember listening to this and Stravinsky's score back to back and preferring this. Not many times (hardly at all) can I say that of Tomita's things, except perhaps some of his Ravel and Prokofiev interpretations. Debussy? Holst? Nah. Leave them alone. Don't tamper. Tamper.
...He has mastered the score of Stravinsky note by note & interpreted it classically in 1976 with available electronics at that time - no one else has done anything like his interpretations since! - the drama & melancholy is 100% enhanced - brings it completely out to the forefront....

Oh, my God!
Isao Tomita makes JM-J seem amature.
Anyone who inserts adverts in a musical work should be blocked for life
Then that would be TH-cam then. They put them in. I have no control over that. You have a dilemma.

Amazing - this can't be vinyl, can it?
It is. I bought it in Oxfam many years ago :)
@@DrTomoculus I did too, when it was new. But I never heard it clearly - like a CD! But my hearing it not so good, in my ole age.
