Before I watched this anime, soccer was never of any interest to me. Always a solitary child, I hated team sports even more than all other sports. It was by watching this anime that I came to understand why people can love sports, and the sportsman's camaraderie. It did not turn the hardened sedentary boy I was into a sportsman. But it changed my perspective forever. Later on, when my dad watched soccer on TV, I finally understood the appeal, and could watch with him and bond over it. And even later on, through the DS game, my nephew and I bonded on a level only a couple of other games allowed us to. We still have such fond memories of that one hot summer where we played Inazuma Eleven all day. I am sincerely grateful to this franchise, for every such moment of joy derived from it.
This series wasn't the best, lots of people would say that it's childish with all the "power of friendship" plot armor, and compared to other sports animes like Haikyû or Kuroko no Basket, it's garbage. However, only people who watched it during their childhood would be able to remember and understand why there was such a hype for it. The DS games, the OSTs, all the hissatsus. Even I, a person who has no interest in soccer, enjoyed it, to the point that sometimes i re-watched all of the episodes in a few days. I'll never forget those times when i was all excited, watching Raimon vs Genesis, or Inazuma Japan vs Orpheus. I'm glad i could grow up with Inazuma Eleven
i would just love to live the life of a inazuma eleven character, to go to raimon school, to train on the near lake field and everything there, is just so peacefull and yet epic in the games with all that power, i am personally a big fan of inazuma eleven, i watched the all 127 episods twice =) this anime is old but gold
