OPEN WATER SWIMMING FOR TRIATHLON - in the [shark infested?!] waters of San Francisco

- Jk. No sharks were seen in Aquatic Park, San Francisco this day. We headed across the Golden Gate Bridge to our favorite open water swimming spot in the city for a little wetsuit acclimation, sighting practice, and drafting technique (for Jenna, at least) before our half Ironman race, Ironman 70.3 Florida, in 3 weeks. The water was a liiiiittle colder than it will be down south, but swimming in the open ocean for the first time in months was a good reminder that pool swimming and open water swimming are two different beasts to master, even for us former college swimmers.

With humble roots as college swimmers and academics, we’ve worked hard to become two of the country’s leading age-group triathletes, and are now on a mission to become professional athletes and content gurus. Im 16 and I aspire to be as good as you guys are at triathlon! I've got the bike and run sorted, and I'm good in a pool. I just have a really horrible fear of open water, and especially near big structures in the water. Do you have any tips about how to get over this fear? I love your content
Make more content. I have watched through the old videos and it feels kinda like when you have watched a show to the end. What's next? What does Jenna and Miguel do now? The blind triathlete was a good one but it didnt focus on you guys. More content to the people :)

Thanks! We have a good setup - GoPro 9, GoPro max, and Sony A7Riii. Editing process (we use Final Cut X) is perpetually changing ... inspiration strikes differently every week. Very nice to have 2 of us to share responsibilities!

It was a sea lion! A 1000+ lb beast of a creature. Apparently it was chasing us the whole time we were out there 😭

What was chasing you, that thing was huge!! Here in Vancouver we have very ‘playful’ seals who think you want to be friends (or maybe even thinks you’re also a seal?) and they follow you around the entire time 😟
A sea lion!! It WAS huge! Luckily it left us alone once we sprinted off, but we've heard stories of playful seals + sea lions from some friends who swim in the bay regularly

There’s usually a very friendly crew guarding peoples’ things. Lock up your valuables in the car 🤙🏽
