    For a 'simple' kit it certainly does pack a punch when finished. You've done a terrific job bringing this kit to life!

      The A-6E is a perfect match, unfortunately I built mine with open canopy and without crew on board, so it's not ready for launch. :) Thanks for watching!

      @@RWOModels I have to have crew , 'cos I like to build "in-flight" I object to having to pay extra for tiny figures though , I think they should be included !!

    Hello may I ask why you didn’t fill/putty the seam lines (4:11) between the panels? Was this for artistic reason or is that what the actual carrier deck looks like? Great video.

    • @RWOModels
      @RWOModels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The seam lines are molded into the base plate parts so I left them untouched. Kind of breaks up the surface a bit. Overall this was a pretty quick build, and due to the warped base plate parts I found it not very pleasant to put this together. Thanks for watching! 🙂

    all it needs now are a tomcat in it's prowling stance with wings extended and flaps/slats deployed OR doing a control surfaces check, deck crew and a tractor if it can be squeezed in that is. anyway, great job!

    Thanks for the post........ I JUST purchased this Same kit!
    I appreciate the post for letting us know about the ejector pin marks, I'm just wondering.....is there a better way to fill those marks? ( I even heard of using plastic disks the size of ejector pin marks..... )
    BUT Seriously, a Fantastic job on the paint job, and Thanks for posting what colors used.....I too am beginning of using Vallejo paints as a replacement of my older 'Model Master - acrylic'.
    But Questions. 1) What size needle do you use on the overall spraying, 2) Did you ever think of using a "metallizer paint" for that area for where the shuttle rides on?? 3) Lastly, did you strengthen the base, Just to give it more stability, it looked, as you shown, a bit warped.
    I have Just about Every USN 80's plane to present, and hope to display this with Probably All my planes....just curious does would an E-2C fit on this deck, or would....MayBe....so sort of extension of this kit ( okay, that was the last question ).
    Again, thanks for the post. Good work!!

    • @RWOModels
      @RWOModels  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Apologies for the late reply... Happy you liked the build, appreciate your comment! So even if I'm late let me try to answer your questions... For this build I used my old H&S Evolution airbrush with 0.2 and 0.4 nozzles. For both gloss and matt clear varnishes I used Vallejo spray cans so I could cover the large area more quickly. Regarding the metallic effect for the area the shuttle rides on I would probably try a bit of dry-brushing if I was to build the kit again. Finally, I just rectified the warped base part with my hot air gun, but I should have better strengthened it from below since the stupid part started to warp again after a couple of months.
      After all I'm not using this diorama base very often, not to say I don't use it all. I don't have too many nice 1/72 Navy planes I could put on it, just the Top Gun F-14 I recently built, but I feel it's a bit too large for the base.
      Thanks again and enjoy your build! Cheers, RWO

      @@RWOModels Thanks for getting back to me on my questions. I will be building up my FD soon, finishing on a 'Drone' for USN ..... a "What If...." on my channel, but I will post that later this month.
      As far as Your info on questions....thanks!! Sorry about what happen to Your FD being warped, maybe a firmer base (wood underneath the FD) and using epoxy.
      And as far as the F-14 on this FD......that seems about right. I'm a USN Veteran, but, never served onboard a A/C carrier, but Know the Wide wingspan of those A/C......now I'm thinking about an E-2C or a "Whale" (??) As far as the shuttle to launch the A/C, all the deck crew would do is to move the shuttle a bit forward. AND as for your A-4, well there was a different way that they would launch those A/C and the reason why they have those "horns" at the VERY Front End of the carrier decks (usually three [3]).
      BUT back to YOUR post.......It looks Great, thanks for the tips I hope to display the FD, with FD crews, And drone.

    One minor mistake as far as i know. The door of the shooter should be placed 180°
    th-cam.com/video/2kMWh8qY5SI/w-d-xo.html like to see here
    But overall nice built

    • @RWOModels
      @RWOModels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for pointing this out! My mistake, I solely relied on the Italeri build instructions as well as the illustrations on the box, both showing it the wrong way! They even put two small marks on the base plate clearly indicating where to attach the door… Will definitely stay away from Italeri in the future, can’t tell you how many errors and problems I had with their kits. Thanks again! Cheers, Oliver/RWO

      Good catch on an otherwise beautiful kit. That is the center deck hatch and it should open in the opposite direction (facing aft vice forward). There should also be a center deck operator sitting in the hatch opening. He is the keeper of the launch bulletins and also sets / communicates the CSV setting to the cat crew below decks, as well as, monitoring wind speed / direction and steam pressure for catapult for the shooter when he steps away from the center deck... I was a shooter on Kitty Hawk and we stayed pretty close to the center deck while shooting the bow cats and cat 4. That all said, great work!
