The thing that pisses me off personally is me being an avid boxing fan who watches fights every month, I just can’t stand Jake Paul. He fights influencers, retired MMA fighters and washed up boxers, then he calls out Canelo Alvarez (one of the best in the world) for a fight. Yet when he fought an actual boxer (Tommy Fury) he lost convincingly.
I use to enjoy boxing in the 2000s, same with UFC, but i just checked out only the big fights in the 2010s. To me, boxing and combat sports are an art form and something that people dedicated years of their lives to. That’s why I never gave a shit about “influencer” boxing. It’s just a bunch of dudes with a young audience who clearly can’t fight, fighting. I know you said it draws alot of eyes to boxing, which to an extent it does, but it’s only towards more social media fights and not actual professional fights. And to me, the worst thing about these fights is actually labeling “professional” fights. It’s hilarious when people try and say KSI or Jake Paul are (insert fight record) in professional boxing, when neither has boxed a single pro boxer.

Being a lifelong boxing fan I was angry at the KSI guy for being patient zero and starting the whole misfits company. I thought I was being unfair because I had never actually watched any of his videos or knew anything about him. I checked one out and good god… what an obnoxious man child. With that stupid laugh I could barely get through a video of listening to him talk, I think he might be worse than Jake Paul. That’s when I realized I have nothing left in common with this generation. (KSI is actually older than me by a year but most of his followers are younger kids I’m assuming.) How that guy became famous and such a viral sensation will always mistify me.
