I’m in middle school, and there’s a gaming club where it’s mostly about Nintendo like watching Nintendo Directs and playing smash bros tournaments for every month, but we still get to play even if there’s no tournament. I would totally play this music if there was a party.

I've always been a Mario main since the very beginning. Mario is my favorite character in general. And to see that now he's top tier, that's even better! Yes, Mario has his flaws in previous Smash Bros games, but I have always made great use of Mario, and I have never went wrong with him. But still, I don't think my Mario skills will ever reach Ally's level. Even if I faced Ally Mario on Mario, he would more than likely beat me.
DJAlex14 we're the same i admire ally so much that i want to be just like him and mario is favorite character too when the first time i played super smash bros i lost first in the multiplayer K.O. by my classmate grant he is the most disrespectful classmate when it comes to super smash bros he said to me "mario is a weakling you're a weakling" he also said this to my friend the other day i was frustrated when he said that to me and so that day i did not join the game i sat on my chair and thinking about what he said to me i was abuse but somehow but i had to accept it so i started training combos most smash 64 there is no air dodge,Side specials,down throws and up throws on the next week i decided to join them so improved and i had to fight grant again which he picks kirby as his best pick so i manage to win that time but when i won i decided to say it a good game he said that's just a lucky win so the next three days it so we did not play super smash bros again on my grade six me and my friends did not play any smash bros even next year we played brawl which where mostly the mostly times we play i the multiplayer mostly i always get competitive with grant and jether some time i'm the second one to be knockout also sometimes to joshua and jan-ray i'm really happy that i have friends to compete with learn inspiration from them and that"s why i will never give up on mario and never change my favorite main it doe not matter in skill it matters how we give our best and respect our opponents
So I main Doc. I know, bad idea, bottom of the tier list, so on. But does say, someone who can play Mario well translate to that person being able to play 'vanilla' Mario well and vice versa? Because with all the new buffs and characters that have come out, Mario has continually stayed A, if not S tier, so I don't know if I should move my efforts into playing him instead of the character I'm better at/have more fun playing. I do not know who I have a better W:L on but it feels like I do better on Doc. Just because I know the character, his combos, and his capabilities. So if anyone has any input, please feel free.
They play pretty differently. Doc is a more defensive wait/punish character, who doesn't have very many combos out of down throw->up-b or fair. Mario has a much better recovery and can use up air strings to rack up damage. Stay playing Doc. Sm4sh still has a relatively young meta, and you might be able to find stuff with him that nobody else has. I just suggest getting a secondary to cover up your bad match-ups (which is, admittedly, most of the cast). I used to main Doc, until I found out how good Vanilla Mario was. Doc is still one of my favorite characters to play, and I'll use him all the time in friendlies. However, if I am playing to win, I use Mario.
shollyboster Oh I have plenty of backups. In no order, DK, Marth, Cloud, Mewtwo, Ganon, Bowser, Captain Falcon, and a weak Fox. There's probably more but I can't think of any more ATM. Doc's 0-5% combo is like d-throw into upsmash or down throw>up air>nair>hands. At this point I just play whatever I want but Doc is my go to whenever I get the "hey let's play 4 stock" from my friends. His down smash is so good and has pretty decent end lag/armor, if you can input well enough then the bair ain't fair. And if you can mash the what, 13 times a second? Then you have semi decent recover/kill options. He's just a "what did my opponent pick? this'll be such an easy match. Wait holy shit I'm getting bodied," type of character. But I do agree he doesn't have any real tournament viability.
oblivion yeah you can do a weak mash down b for below stage gimps which is pretty cool. and his wavedash is pretty ridiculous in Melee so that's basically the only reason I play him in both games.

I guess I just don't understand Smash 4. I know this guy won Evo and everything and he's great at the game, but I honestly don't get it. At 0:08 he just up smashes.... How is that special? At 0:54 he just up-tilts 3 or times and knocks him off stage and lands an aerial. I'm not trying to be a melee elitist or anything, but it makes sense why people don't consider this game to take nearly as much skill. I'm genuinely curious what people are appreciating in this combo video because it just seems like slow basic inputs. Can anybody help me out?
Honestly, Mario is an easy character. I know because I use him alongside Sheik. But if you check other Smash 4 videos you can see that not all characters are that easy to play. Take for example Marth. Marth could hit you with a tipper at 60% and kill you from midstage depending on the other character's weight. However, if not by tipper, Marth has a hard time killing. Going back to Mario, as easy as he may seem, not all gimmicks can be pulled off by any Mario player. Ally is a great player, winning EVO shows that. PD: Yes, Melee still requires a hella lot more skill than Smash 4, but that doesnt mean this game only consists of slow basic inputs, to be good at any kind of smash, slow basic inputs are not gonna cut it. Ghostaey Melee's neutral is similar to N64, where if you get hit...it's nearly a stock while Sm4sh is more calculated but doesn't have as much complexity as melee MENTALLY as melee's been around longer

Jack Petry good luck on your doc in tournament, try doing jab jab to reverse up b. or you should use up throw for combos at lower percent :)
