      The people who are being cryopreserved at Alcor may be revived in just 20-40 years. Michio Kaku doesn't support Cryonics but he's the one that said the technological singularity will be here in 2029 which means that things like nanotechnology will begin developing at an insane rate. This once again only supports the idea that there may only be a short wait until the first people are revived.

      May I ask why are you doing this? Presuming most of us will die from illness ,old age if we are lucky..why would you want to come back in a body that has has come to the end of it's 'natural' process? Also on a practical note every person you ever loved ,ever knew..everything would be long gone..the world is getting to be a very sinister place indeed.I gave a list above to George ,it sounds dystopian but what I've said is true..This planet is beautiful and we destroyed it.

    • @kebekdisk
      @kebekdisk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hi Wilde ! Thanks for your questions. 1st, the majority of the persons who opted for Cryonics are with their Families. (Father, Mother, Brother, Sister ...) / For your other question, aging & the diseases of old age are all diseases which cryonicists believe that future medicine should be able to cure. Aging is damage to organs, tissues, cells & macromolecules. Cryonicists believe that future medicine should be able to stop, reverse & rejuvenate all aging processes. Future medicine is expected to be able to keep everyone perpetually young & healthy. If so, only severe accident, suicide or murder will be causes of death. Cryonics could be first aid to preserve people until the capabilities of future medicine have arrived.

      I noticed your comment regarding this fascinating technology but here´s my question since you actually singed up: Who guarantees that this company will still exist in 2200 or 2350 when there might be newer tech to "revive" you ? Imagine if it goes financially broke, or the US is bombed by nuclear warheads in some distant future? Who will actually be liable for your body in 300 years from now? Thanks!

They're usually more expensive than cryopreservation, too, and have a high risk of torturous side effects. They're offered because the alternatives are pretty much guaranteed to lead to death - just like is the case with cryonics.

    "Our view is today that when we're calling someone dead, when doctors declare you to be dead, there's a bit of an arbitrary line. In fact they're in need of rescue but we don't have the technology today to revive them."
    IDK not having a way to revive somebody sounds like they're pretty dead to me. I'm not for or against this company, but what I am for is gaining everlasting life through faith in Jesus. If someone no longer has brain activity, then their soul has left their body. Whether they went to heaven, or are resting until the return of Jesus, all of those frozen people are dead. The only way to revive them is by the hands of Jesus. Sure maybe science will eventually find a way to bring a body back to life, but that individual will not have a soul or any conscience. Why would anyone even want to continue living years later in an old worn out body? IDK about you but I want a new body. An unbreakable, indestructible, everlasting body. Which is promised by God for those who believe in him and his son Jesus Christ.

    • @AndyHappyGuy
      @AndyHappyGuy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They freeze them when their heart and lungs just stopped working. That means that the brain is still alive, just in need of Oxygen. By freezing the bodies, they basically "paused" this and when some discovery lets their bodies work again, they are "unfrozen" and given the surgery or whatever that stops whatever they died from.

    • @KillSchwill
      @KillSchwill 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AndyHappyGuy the only thing they have done is prevented decay from happening to their brain and body tissue. No brain and cellular activity means the person is dead... IDK if you've ever eaten something that's been in the freezer for too long, but it's never the same again after it thaws out. Same thing will happen to these people. They will never be the same again after being thawed out. We were designed to be continuously sustained organisms. Once you stop those cells from doing their job for an extended period of time, it completely hinders the ability to just pick it back up like normal. And I understand this gives hope for those who don't believe in God. But this is a complete shot in the dark for even scientists. They have no idea if they can even successfully reverse the damage that has been done to a frozen body let alone reactivate the electrical signals of the brain.

    I would love to see this actually work. but the problem is that 75-80 % of our body consists of fluids. so if you were to take a gallon of milk or water and freeze it .then the fluids expends.
    which would cause the gallon of milk or water to crack of explode . if modern science can solve this problem. then it could be possible. I wish they would test it on an animal and see what happens

      This is already solved. The problem is that we still don't have the technology to safely revive patients and fix the damage that the cryoprotectants do. Those are the real problems we have to figure out. Until then, cryonics is still the best shot you have.
