The old proximity sensor was extremely op imo. You could build it in a random spot between two bases very far apart, and have it detect players flying on elytra. @@raynewjones Yes, but they do have *limits*. if someone activates a tuned sculk sensor by walking, then press a button while it's still activated, the sensor won't detect the button press because of the walking. But in general, sculk sensors are going to be super cool and useful, if not for farming and other practical redstone things. Now, without commands, wireless redstone is possible. You can send a signal through a solid wall and through the air, and essentially a portion of the limits of redstone have been removed. Seems useful, just not for compacting and stuff like that.

Seems like observer is still the best option for sensing block updates in a specified tile though right? With skulk sensors there could be interference from nearby movements/players/mobs, right? Or am I misunderstanding it? Seems like with observers it’s easier to control and get well defined behavior for things like sugarcane and pumpkin farms at least. If I want a skulk sensor to make a piston push a pumpkin that has just grown, when the piston moves won’t the skulk sensor fire again and start an infinite feedback loop due to the piston noise? I’m hype for these new skulk sensors, but I don’t imagine I’ll be using them in place of observers, but rather in ways that suite their unique abilities.

Before I begin I'll instantly say:
Yes if you are a redstone guy.
target was game changing for real door Redstoners. (Not mumbo, I mean people who are actually good at compacting ) sculk sensors are not useful to them because they would just activate loads of times. Cool for survival ig
well the frequency changing is good though, and wool absorbs the vibrations, so it's good
@@LabsterLab but mumbo uses the target almost every time
@@LabsterLab BUT what about keeping people away from the doors?
@@raynewjones Yes, but they do have *limits*. if someone activates a tuned sculk sensor by walking, then press a button while it's still activated, the sensor won't detect the button press because of the walking.
But in general, sculk sensors are going to be super cool and useful, if not for farming and other practical redstone things.
Now, without commands, wireless redstone is possible. You can send a signal through a solid wall and through the air, and essentially a portion of the limits of redstone have been removed. Seems useful, just not for compacting and stuff like that.

well i dont want to ruin the joke but theyre using datapacks for that so skulk sensors would be pretty useless to them (considering what you predicted right there)
wouldnt they do that using a useful game mechanic?
Skulk Wi-Fi is what I was thinking. You could use a powerline functioning with skulk and send a paper with a message on it to a chest with a painting on it pretending to be a conputer. Realistically, it's just skulk sensors sending a signal across some distance so a dispenser shoots a paper message into a hopper which will funnel into the fake computer, but hey, style points
