I understand he means that if we could all be accepted the way we are, if we could all start with the same freedom of being respected for who we are...this world would be better.
People don't "start ar the same point" because some have to fight against prejudices: racial, religious, sexual, social class...and that is not fair.
We all deserve the same opportunities to develop our talents.

My oldest stepson came out 10 years ago as gay, I didn't care, he Is the same person we loved when he was younger and we love him now

A sporting embargo on these countries is not going to change these countries. Bringing sport to those countries with athletes like Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian vettle who bring the lgbtq+ spot light to them is at least bring it to the conversation, and as unlikely as it’s seems to make it change , that’s where it has to start
As great as both are they are also both straight / Toms done that competing in Russia too but it was arguably more risky / as he was actually gay and so more vulnerable, the onus is on sports federations to make the change
@@rosepetal34 yeah I couldn’t agree more. My use of them as in example is only because f1 was bought up. It’s essential for those countries to change so that lgbtq+ people there can have freedom and safety, and boycotting the countries is a one off political statement, that I feel won’t have long term impact, where as representing the cause in those countries has a chance to bring the spotlight on them regularly

Well there is LGB without the T. Has he not heard of LGB Alliance? Fortunately Tom Daley doesn’t get to dictate how people identify or who they identify with - or not, as the case may be. And that goes for straight and LGB people, as well as Trans.
The lgb alliance invites speakers who voted against toms marriage to their conferences they stand for nothing but discriminating against trans people
"You can't be one of us" is a pretty ugly way to approach other people. A group like LGB Alliance whose purpose is to prevent other people from living as they wish is a group that has lost the understanding of what human rights is.

Sexuality has nothing to do with gender identity so if you try to include groups with different and often conflicting needs and rights, it's only natural you're going to get conflict and a split. By all means set up your own trans right groups but don't expect support from other groups that may be damaged by your campaigning. Understand that a fundamental primary right of living in a free society is that we all have the freedom to associate with who we like in our private life.
