Look up Adele McAllister, Colin Rudd, and Yolanda Mott. They all put Tolkien's words to music of their own composition. (Tolkien's actual words, not the stuff from the films.)

Lauren Paley, my most sincere and heartfelt thank you for sharing your gift with all of us. In this dreadful and painful nightmare of a year, your voice seems as a divine revelation and inspiration, the proverbial light in the darkness, a palpable reminder of all the stunningly beautiful things that still exist in this world if we listen and look for them! You radiate a humbleness that belies your great talent, and you seem to have a soul as lovely as your artistry. I hope you will consider adding "Gabriel's Message" by Sting and "Christmas Day" by Dido to your stairwell series if you cover any holiday songs this season. Grazie Mille!
This song is so beautiful and always fills my heart with so many bittersweet emotions... I had intended to sing it at my grandfather's memorial years ago but when the day came I just couldn't bring myself to. Ever since then, hearing it always makes me sad remembering but also fills me with so much love from thinking about him. Thank you for such a wonderful rendition!
This was one of my grandma’s favorite songs, we had someone sing it at her funeral... so this song is bittersweet for me, it reminds me of her, and her funeral... from the bottom of my heart, thank you for bringing back those memories of my grandmother :’)
I remember this song was sung by Emily Kinney and Lauren Cohan in The Walking Dead. And your voice is so pretty!!! 🤩🤩🤩You'll be a famous singer someday, i know it. Thats why i subscribed to your channel and followed your tiktok acc 💜💜
I’m so glad someone else thought about this as well. Almost want to rewatch that episode specifically for that scene. Immediately remembered Beth and started tearing up a bit.
@@groovymarla I stopped watching after Negan showed up. For various reasons. Just felt like I was waiting around for them to kill my favorite characters. Too stressful.
@@ashethevoid oop- they did killed off characters that are not meant to die, i was also stressed and mad about it. But i stayed loyal and kept watching the show lmao.
I'm late to the party here, but wow..... I'm a Scotsman and you have truly done this traditional Scottish/Irish farewell song justice, a very beautiful version, your very talented keep following your passion.
I just want to say thank you, the stairway might help but you are so gifted, my heart broke within the first words of the song... and your voice brought me back the ones i missed.
If I walked into a stairwell and heard this I’d burst into tears… as if I don’t burst into tears listening to it through the speaker on my phone. Beautiful, thank you Lauren.
Coming home from Iraq l heard this song, it reached past whatever is past your soul , hearing you sing it , all the sights and smells of my first day home have come back as fresh as they were then, thank you.
You should try singing the Shadow of the Colossus opening theme. A lot of it is instrumentals, but there’s a constant choir in the background and it sounds really nice
Idk if you've played any of these games such as Assassin's Creed 4 or if you saw the video of the song being played in game, but it invokes a lamenting feeling of nostalgia, of moments forever attached to this song.
I feel like I can sense you feeling every word of this song. I think most people focus on the sound and flow, but this felt like a story and emotion radiating from every word. It’s such a pretty and melancholy song.
I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SONG. Edit: You sang this so beautifully, I'm not going to be able to forget this, it will grace my ears in many dreams to come.
Yes!!! You finally did it... Absolutely beautiful, I type this with tears in my eyes remembering everyone I've lost... So Fill To Me The Parting Glass..
I love this song, there are many versions of it available, but this is my favourite! The purity of a single lovely voice singing in this striped down way is great. The confidence to sing like you do without anything to hide behind is amazing. Love this!
Beautiful!! This is one of the most touching songs I've heard. It's old, but so in accordance to what we are living today. Brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for this video. You are so beautiful and talented. 😊
What the heck. I just watch one of youre videos and thought that Parting Glass would be an awesome song for you and here you are singing it. This is blowing my mind.
Why are you not trying to be a voice actor or even the next biggest artist that sings fans songs your amazing and your talent should be shared with the world
That’s a beautiful piece I hadn’t yet heard. I’m surprised you can still sing so perfectly in the cold air! I don’t mean to freeze you any more, but you’d make my year if you sang ‘We Will Go Home ‘ (aka ‘Song of Exile’). Thanks & keep warm!!
You are definitely a blessed child of goddess saraswati (the hindu goddess of music, art and wisdom)❤ .... Such a pure soul 💗 Lots of love, happiness and hugs 🤗💚
Even with it being so cold in the stairwell your voice really warmed us all ❤️ Thank you so much for all you do Lauren. I can’t wait for your next video 💕

Lyrics
Of all the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've ever done
Alas, it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be to you all
So fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate'er befalls
Then gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
Of all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They'd wish me one more day to stay
But since it fell into my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
Fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate'er befalls
Then gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
La ra la ra la la
La lala lala la la
La ra lala la la
La la la lala la la
But since it fell into my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
So fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate'er befalls
Then gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be to you all
Good night and joy be to you all
Thank you for the lyrics.

“Burn,” from Hamilton would complement your angelic voice stupendously. Perhaps “Danny Boy,” as well.
