I was recently ordained to the ministry by a Southern Baptist Church. I was divorced from my first wife 2001, and remarried in 2004. In 2005, I came to Christ in repentance and faith. My wife was a widow when I married her, and a Christian. I am currently ministering by Adult Bible study, nursing home ministry, and pulpit fill in. I am being very careful by not taking a role which may not be Biblical due to my failed marriage. You may ask, Why were you ordained? I desired and sought it. I saw it necessary to be able to minister in places like jails. One thing I have ran into is “not being recommended” to churches because I am “divorced” or damaged. I understand the Scripture, but can’t stop the fire in my heart to preach and teach.
I do not believe there is any biblical basis for denying your work as a bishop, because of a past divorce (given the information you shared). I know there's a heap of denominations that say otherwise.
