I always believed that this was a fixed case. He had grown too big too quickly, and he was nicely sidelined.
These heroes can get a lot of things done, so if people wanted they would have helped him.
But they didn't.
The events look so Fixed, other workers leave, wife leaves, new worker turns up, sudden rape happens ... this seems too scripted.
Somebody wanted him out and planted the maid is my take.
