  • @lesbianwalrus

    The $899 version not being available in black is clearly a marketing ploy by Microsoft. Not falling for it. The 256GB i5 version is not worth $1199 bare bones. Maybe if it included the pen and keyboard. You could probably get a better deal on a 2-in-1 PC from Lenovo, Samsung or HP.

    • @Baka_Oppai

      I would disagree although i didnt always feel that way. My ipad pro was $1100. And i now feel if windows had much more software that supported the pen, as apple does for its pencil, i think we wouldnt mind. I mind more that they take too long to add LTE. If they did, i would have one already.

    I'm in support of USB-C and it would've been nice for it to include USB-C, however in 2018 I continue to believe that you don't need it yet, just get a dongle if you do need it or wait for the Pro 7 which will probably include it

    • @keskincandas
      @keskincandas 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Still, I think it would have been much more useful than the mini DP since USB-C supports DP alternate mode. That would be nice for people who buy the laptop and plan to use it for the next few years to come. Charging could also be done by USB-C instead of a proprietary connector.

    • @ZeitGeist_TV
      @ZeitGeist_TV 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      aeronatis That's why they choose to omit it for one more generation. Look at Nintendo with the switch how they had to suggest users don't use just any USB C cable to try to charge the device. The average consumer is who they are trying to protect. I agree it would've been nice to have on there but I have the 2017 version and I've lived fine without it.

    • @ZeitGeist_TV
      @ZeitGeist_TV 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      aeronatis Also forgot to add that Amazon had to crack down on third party USB C sellers due to faulty or false claims on their cables. Google even got involved due to user complaints. Not all USB C cables can fast charge or handle external monitors or connect to external GPU etc. Microsoft likely wants more stability and higher adoption rate of the format before adding it to a $800 and up to $3000 device. Some Nintendo switch systems have been bricked by faulty USB C cables.

    • @tree2782
      @tree2782 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you are paying that much price why don't have USB c and thunderbolt price? Sure you feel u don't need it but it's gonna be used very much soon. All things are going to USB C and your will laptop will get outdated and useless without it. Then you need to upgrade again and waste your money. Laptops aren't meant to be changed every few years. These machines run for years and I don't think Microsoft will release any other matte black laptop after this any soon

    • @gcg8187
      @gcg8187 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tree2782 dude how often do I plug a USB in my computer? Not very often and if I do it's going to be a flash drive or my cell phone. Personally I won't need an adapter for that and I don't think most people who use laptops casually will. Unless you're hooking it up to do some projection screen lap presentation?

    For the price of the device and for what they give you give you get a very good laptop had over $1000 back and handle lots of work. Adding on the price of the accessories you can even step it up to a more respectable laptop. My biggest issue is is without a fan how much throttling will be made to happen to I 5 models. It’s bad enough to the fact that you have thermal throttling. I just feel for what is being offered it is not worth it the screen is very nice but still it’s a tough call and is completely subjective

    • @alemusicgirl
      @alemusicgirl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      there is not FAN on i5 models

    • @weaverquest
      @weaverquest 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my opinion the i5 with four cores is already really powerful. Sure you can go into gaming laptop territory with discrete GPU when approaching $1000 but they are bulky and have very poor battery life whereas Surface Pro 6 is basically a very light laptop with very long battery life and much better 3:2 screen than you would find in most other laptops in those price range. The main selling point of the device is of course versatility. The stand that folds all the way down, surface pen, being able to use tablet mode to read comics or textbooks more naturally. All while being a very capable full windows 10 PC in lightweight tablet form factor. Of course if you don't care about the versatility you can find better specced or cheaper ultra books for the price.

    • @lesbianwalrus
      @lesbianwalrus 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that's dumb. All the most popular tablets, laptops and 2-in-1 PCs are hyper-thin since that's the craze these days. I hold Apple responsible for this dumbing down.
      That said, I intend to adapt to the situation and keep my portable PCs at a low work load to ensure longevity.

    • @ZeitGeist_TV
      @ZeitGeist_TV 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Steven OConnor Just get the previous model yes you only get dual core CPU on the 2017 models but for a ultra portable two in one it's a great device for work on the go out college students. My i5 with 8Gbs of ram only cost me $800 before taxes and included the keyboard. The next thing I need is the surface pen and dock that has Ethernet.

    • @ZeitGeist_TV
      @ZeitGeist_TV 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      MN Airsoft That's a great great deal, your model is a quad core CPU compared to my 2017 SP with i5 is dual core. That extra CPU power would've been great for what I'm going to school for but the iPad Pro will be able to offset some of that for me. It's a really great 2 in 1 and the thing I love most is the versatility.

    Microsoft New Zealand is selling these for NZ$2,000. Expensive, definitely overpriced, and only 1 USB port, no dedicated GPU, and the 500GB version costs NZ$3,000, and doesn't come with a pen or keyboard. Pros though is it's A LOT more lighter, thinner, and portable, than your average laptop peeps use for school home and/or work. They REALLY need to specify exactly what CPU it has (eg. i5 8250U). Since the i5 versions have no fans, I can see a common overheating issue when you use this on your lap for long periods.

    As someone who does games Art at university I can tell you.... buy this. I should have and instead I was silly and got an iPad. It’s good for drawing and that’s all, this however runs all of the 3D software I need (everyone else in my class to this).

    Can you please say something more about sd memory card port? Will card stick out of "wall"?
    And could this unit play for example Fortnite?

    • @zollotech
      @zollotech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A memory card won’t stick out at all because it’s so tiny, it should play Fortnite just fine

    Hey there I got a question can you use the stylus while leaning on the screen like you would on paper with a pencil with out it picking (tracking) your hand . I’m asking because I’m looking into something for digital art and I don’t want to make another bad buy . Thanks

    How well does this device do under the adobe programs? Particularly adobe Animate.

    • @Sgt_Glory
      @Sgt_Glory 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've used most of the CC apps on it as well as Affinity Photo and Designer and it shreds through them all. Didn't try animate though sadly, but i'm sure it can handle it.

    Hey! Great video there. I've a question, can I connect my external HDD to Pro 6? I'm thinking of buying this device as I think its just the perfect mixture of tablet and PC. The important thing for me is to be able to connect my external HDDs which have a lot of my data.

    Its $999 with the keyboard for black friday/monday week thing. I picked one up.. great deal @ $330 off right now. BTW the signature version of the keyboard comes in black with that felt as well and is included in this deal.

    I’d like to know if it’ll run world of Warcraft. I need something light enough for my work backpack that I ca use during lunch. I have a dell g7 for at home gaming but looking for the Nintendo switch of laptops to try gaming at work. I don’t care about settings. 30 FPS is fine with me.

      Homero Avila I run WoW on my surface pro 2. So I suspect the answer is yes with the 6 but don't expect ultra video settings. Also expect the fan to run high. I assume you are thinking i7 model...

      ErikTheRed yes I bought the surface pro 6 i7 model. Wow runs good. I’ve never had an ultra PC. Used to playing wow on iMac. Always on low settings. The sp6 runs it at 4 on the graphics slider, actually looks better graphically then my iMac . Fan started running a little loud so I dropped the settings down a bit and doesn’t look amazing but plays well over 100fps and I can play at lunch, in the car, on a train it’s very cool.

      Orias yes I actually went out and bought the i7 surface pro 6. Works great for my gaming needs. Runs everything medium to low. I play world of Warcraft I play hearthstone, no league of legends, but I play smite, paladins, Fortnite, ark, and more. I don’t need elite performance, this works great for myself and my son when we’re visiting grandmas house or I’m at work during lunch.

      I own the Surface Pro 2 and I play WoW and Civi VI since I bought it ( 6 years now) without any problems. The Surface 6 is a much advance and faster version so you will love to play WoW on it
