Very nice review and comparison with the previous model. I own the previous one and I am amazed how many details you remember from the old model, you've nailed what I was interested in. I'm no longer in the market for this category of car, I just bought the Kona for lack of better options in 2020, but I must agree that the improvements are enormous. What you touched very little on is driving confort and suspension. How is it compared to the old one. My biggest complaint in mine is noise at highway speed, I can't listen to a podcast or anything because of the noise and the car bobs back and forth a lot over speed bumps.
Hello! Could You please tell me, If the car have the possibility to use the cameras in order to register on the memory card! Some sort of centry mode! I saw this on the Kona in Korea!
Great review. You go into a lot of detail. Apart from your review, the way car manufacturers are coming out with more complexity concerns me. There are more and more accidents on the roads these days, and a lot of them are due to driver discretion. A wise person would deal with all those complex settings before heading out on the road, but so many, I’m sure, would be fiddling with the panel while driving. Years ago, it was said, that people were concerned when radios were added to a car. They were worried that it would distract the driver. Have we come a long way in that regard.
Really dissapointed that Hyundai chose Front Wheel drive on the new Kona. Would have been amazing if it was rear Wheel drive. Even PoleStar realize that for an electric drivetrain RWD is the way to go.
@@BatteryLife Yes, it's cost cutting, I understand. But it's really disappointing. I had Kona for 7 months. It was really scary driving it in the snow and also i get stuck alot.
@@kristoffergo6973wouldn’t say it’s cost cutting, it’s as if they cared for efficiency. It’s better than Tesla Model Y 2024, though Tesla will untroduce cheaper version of Model Y in 2025…
We nearly bought an original Kona in 2021 but we found the boot space lacking, so we got the ID.3 instead which we love. However, I think this new Kona might've changed our minds if it were available. Though to be honest I think the ID.3 still looks pretty sharp whereas this new Kona looks a bit dumpy.
Good morning! Kona Ev charge faster than Niro E, right? Do you know if the battery is the same in both cars? I know the capacity it’s a just a bit bigger on the Kona Ev, but it is same chemical composition? Is it the Kona Ev Battery provided by German Company Webasto like the one on the Niro Ev? Just thinking if that is true… in the future the charge speed on the Kona Ev battery can be increase by a software upgrade. What is your opinion about that matter?
Does anyone ordered the new long range Kona recently? Is the 218hp electric motor with 65,4 kWh battery still available? I ordered a new Kona in Romania and only the 204hp and 64,8kwh configuration is available.
We ordered a N line s ev in the uk 🇬🇧 yesterday. Electronic paper work says Kona 160kw, n line s, 65kwh 5 Dr auto electric hatchback in metallic ultimate red.
I saw and sat in one of these (plug in but the same otherwise AFAIK) at fully charged earlier this year. It looked just like a shrunk Ionic 5 to me. I found the rear seat legroom disappointing.Much more disappointing is the price for the 64kWh version at £43k in the UK. You can buy a model 3 for just less than £40k with the same range and of course full access to the SC network, plus that will also save a fair bit in "luxury tax" over the years as well since that kicks in at £40k, essentialy an extra £2,000 over 5 years.
Have fun with that model 3 shutting down in heavy rain due to battery getting water damaged. Tesla warranty is like Apple warranty when it comes to water damage, so save another 17k for a new 🔋because Tesla warranty will not cover it.
@@Joe-lb8qn no they drove through the rain, and Tesla warranty was not covering it because there was a yellow weather warning 🤣 yeah pretty sad that they reduce the built quality this drastically to meet the low prices
1. One charging to the road to Drezda? 29%->100%, who does that? And 1:23, WTF. This planning is useless. :( 2. The datas on the real time consumption screen aren't good. Remember your old test drive, the city one (2009, EP13, 7:48), you mentioned it. ;-) Test it now, it's still bad (I have a Kona 2020).
@@BatteryLife Majority accidents in a car park is from people reversing into other cars. i.e. reversing out of a parking spot. It's also for safety. Annoying the new hyundai has no over head sunglasses compartment unlike the previous model and even more annoying is it seems to be a lot slower than the previous model but i still went and ordered one though. Had to be the n line s model as the standard got kinda ugly😊
I test drove this car. It's plastic galore inside. No single soft touch surface anywhere. And in my market, Romania, it's more expensive than Model Y long range. It's absurd.
We cross shoped a kia niro ev 4 against the ev kona n line s. It was a close call, but we have ordered the kona because you just get more kit for your money. I agree the kia looks posher inside, but when it comes to actually using the controls I found the kona was much easier to use.
Best 2024 Kona review yet.
I bought one February 16, 2024. Love it!

THANKS for including your personal information (height); without this, it can be very difficult to extrapolate what comfort any of us can expect.
Height doesn't mean much. You can have long or short legs/torso.
Kona is so beautiful in the serenity pearl white colour/paint ❤
Just ordered ours get it end of November
Really enjoyed your review. Thank you!
Awesome car with a lot of features ❤
How would you rate the sensation of acceleration and loudness vs the ID3?
Loudness similar.
Accelerating feels very weak
I like your reviews. EV-centric, and all the stuff we need to know.
@BatteryLife Which white is this? Atlas or Serenity?
I am wondering the same thing.
Me too. Plus I'm stuck on any version of the white Vs the ecotronic grey. Which would you go for
Do you have to enter menu every time you drive the car for turning off the speed limit varnings?
Yes.
@@BatteryLife At least one can switch it off 👍
I’m sure there will be car models not even offering that choice 😖
Love the 24 Kona EV. My only complaint is I wish it was a little cheaper in price.

Did they have dashcam built in as they said they would at launch but seems quiet on that
I have heard that it is available on the Korean spec, but not on the Euro/UK spec due to regulations in some EU countries
