I used to live in San Diego and my wife and I had season tickets to the La Jolla Playhouse. We were going to see the pre-Broadway production of Thoroughly Modern Millie there, but a couple of days before our show, they fired the lead. We learned that the understudy was going to take over the role. We weren't terribly excited about seeing an understudy until Sutton Foster came on stage. We knew immediately that she was going to be a star! I've been a huge fan ever since.
Saw her in Anything Goes back in 2011 and absolutely loved it. She was so glamorous. Still my favorite Broadway show I think. Hopefully the prices for a ticket to music man become more reasonable.
I was lucky enough to see Sutton in Anything Goes in London and she was spectacular, the whole audience were overjoyed! Would love to see her as Mama Rose eventually.
Fantastic person, fantastic singer and fantastic performer. What a truly gifted woman. What a wonderful performance she will give on Broadway! Whoever gets to see this performance is a very lucky person!!!
Sutton, so so glad to hear you would love to play Mama Rose - my prediction from years ago after seeing you in Anything Goes was that the next Broadway Production to me mounted for GYPSY will be starring YOU!
It's a shame that Broadway doesn't film a show for sale after a production closes. I'd have loved to have seen the original cast in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE.
I so agree, from what I hear it's the 'unions' holding that up, esp. the Orchestra's Musicians union ;( Most of the videos on BroadwayHD are videos already available on DVD or PBS airing. I hope that Live Streaming takes off! I saw Millie and it was truly a historic performance.
Saw Sutton in Thoroughly Modern Millie. She just blew me away at every turn. She’s right “Gimme, Gimme” seemed very hard to sing, but she nailed the hell out of it and brought the audience out of their ever loving minds! She’s a queen.
Ms Foster, I live in Chicago and have never seen you do the show. Bought tickets for you last Saturday performance in London . Unfortunately I became ill and was hospitalized. I missed the show. I am hoping that you will do the show again, please once more. Looking forward to the Music Man. You are an American instruction.
just got back from the music man about an hour ago and i LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! seen it twice i saw it two days ago and her talent it’s amazing same is hugh jackman love them!!
She is amazing. It was so cute, the way Jonathan Crombie spoke of her to me one night after a performance of , "The Drowsy Chaperone". The awe was real. I completely agreed. He did a great job too.
I am going to NY in January - for my first Broadway play, to see SF, of course! Huge Jackman was just an added appendage of delight. I was in search of a Sutton Foster fix, when my eyes jumped to the coming Music Man production. I have only seen Sutton Foster on U-Tube, so this will be a thrill. It seemed quite apropos to bring along my son, who played Moonface Martin in his high school musical and auditioned for the part singing Seventy-Six Trombones. The quality and range of both Foster and Jackman voices will be an out of the ball park hit, but you add the energy that they both bring to their charters that they play and…… Anyway, I just can’t wait!
My dad was a high school music teacher, and when the school musical was South Pacific he cracked up the pit orchestra by telling him his daughter (me, about 7 at the time) thought it was about a cross-eyed octopus.
finally someone with some sense - Jackman is truly an awful singer and is hokey af; not dissimilar to Hasselhof’s embarrassing “performance” in Jekyll & Hyde
I adore him so much so I have to be honest here. Hugh can't sing at all. Ppl give him a pass because of his charming personality, nice guy persona, and being handsome. Being a fan of his shouldn't mean praising everything he does.
This woman is an enormous talent.
Sutton is a shining light in an otherwise bleak world.
Sutton is so real, I have so much respect for her. And yes, she's also a queen, it's true

I saw Sutton in London in September and had the pleasure of meeting her afterwards. She's such a queen. No words can describe how much I love her. 🥰
she's so humble!! she not only starred in the nyc production of anything goes but she also won the tony for it!!
I love her so much. She’s so real and sweet and so unbelievably talented
Saw her in Anything Goes back in 2011 and absolutely loved it. She was so glamorous. Still my favorite Broadway show I think. Hopefully the prices for a ticket to music man become more reasonable.

Even a little bit of Gimme Gimme gives me goosebumps! Probably my favorite broadway songs of her
Just when I thought I couldn't be more taken with Sutton Foster.....I see this!
Just saw "Music Man" with my daughter. Phenomenal!
had the honour of seeing her in london as reno, she was just spectacular🤩

I almost saw them all! Sutton was at a funeral when I went though.😞
Does The Broadway Channel do that?
@@beannamated I'm not sure if they do.
They’re usually recorded for the New York public library archives.

Yeah, I know…thanks for the spell check 😉

What an adorable, beautiful soul
Love this Girl!
She is freaking AGELESS
Such a lovely energy she has. I watched Shrek the Musical couple days ago. I Know It's Today one of my favourite🥰
My daughter was named after Amaryllis from The Music Man. I am so pleased to see Sutton starring in my favorite show.
I love the idea of Sutton and Hugh Jackman in The Music Man! I look forward to more info on this production, and I hope it doesn't get delayed.
He is just awful in my opinion. Whereas she is the GOAT. He is hokey, one-dimensional and a poor vocalist
Sutton is amazing!!
Sutton is amazing I love this video it made my day Sutton is amazing and a queen ❤️

I’d love to see her as mama rose when she’s older! 🥰🥺🥺
I love her🥰❤️
I love her!
Whoa, Sutton could do a Debbie Reynolds biopic. I'd watch that.

Anyway, I just can’t wait!
It also helps that my memory of "In Your Eyes" is from "Say Anything" 😍
omg I LOVE this
I sooo want to see Foster & Jackman in Music Man!!! Soooo curious how she will give her unique style to Marian Paroo.
Please give Sutton the Mama Rose role, it would be EPIC!!!!!!
How incredibly charming is she?
Ok, well, now 200 more reasons to think she's incredible.
Dan Fogelberg!! Ah… she just reminded me of a retro musician I *love*! Classic!!!
love
what a darling!!!!
My dad was a high school music teacher, and when the school musical was South Pacific he cracked up the pit orchestra by telling him his daughter (me, about 7 at the time) thought it was about a cross-eyed octopus.
Eventually we'll get a Gypsy revival with Sutton. I'm almost 100% positive.
Theatre kids assemble
If Mandy Moore were mixed with Hilary Swnak on Broadway. She seems really cool.
Kelly Clarkston.
Of course the Monty Python song has a different impact when you watch the video along with the singing.
9:25 Tell me you've never seen Life of Brian without telling me you've never seen Life of Brian...
Wait, they asked the shower question twice? But she gave two different answers??
Wow. I used to like her.
And now you love her? 😉
this was the whitest set of songs ever 😭 love her tho
It’s a shame Hugh Jackman can’t sing
Go check your ears urgently!!!
finally someone with some sense - Jackman is truly an awful singer and is hokey af; not dissimilar to Hasselhof’s embarrassing “performance” in Jekyll & Hyde

She will be Marian Paroo? Marian should be a soprano. NOT a mezzo or alto. BTW, Meredith Willson is spelled with a double L.
Weird. Enough said.
What do you mean weird?
Fix your dress dear!!!!
For a brilliant entertainer her taste in music is notoriously awful.
Pull your shirt up on your shoulder. Lol.
Why???
