  • For 12 years, Shawn Bradley lived his NBA dream. The following 16 years he traveled the world. But in January 2021, Bradley's world was turned upside down.
The former BYU basketball player, who went on to be drafted as the No. 2 overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1993 NBA draft, was paralyzed in a tragic bicycle accident near his home in St. George.
"Being an elite athlete, playing at the highest level, to have someone help change my diaper - I mean, come on, that's not easy," Bradley said in an exclusive interview with KSL.com.
In the year since the accident, Bradley and his family have come to accept their new life.

I broke my neck on 9/11/84 and am a C4-C5 quadriplegic. I too had a severely bruised and damaged cord. But i am not able to snow ski, golf, play tennis. etc. So keep working Sean!

Truly hurts to see a great guy and player laid up like this. One thing I will definitely say is that wife of his is an absolutely amazing woman.

A 24-25 mile ride is unusual. It's a distance that crosses from riding for the pleasure of it to something that's more serious.

This video really humbles me. How fragile human beings are ! No matter how bad ass we believe we are, my life could end like …. A snap of my fingers.
