    This was exactly what I needed to understand causal loop diagrams, you made it so clear and understandable. Thank you!!!

    I saw 3 different videos befor this one, but I finally got a hang of the whole causal loop concept with this particular video. Thanks Dr. Donna.

    This is how every professor, instructor, or teacher should be talking and lecturing. She talks clearly, precisely, slowly, and phase between each sentence or idea so that listeners and watchers can clearly understand. She wants to make the audience learn and comprehend not herself.

    CLDS protocols are that there is always increase at the tail then see the effect on head either positive or negative.

    Very effective video Dr. Gurule. I learned and enjoyed the pop quiz. Just a quick question - are causal loop diagrams and stock and flow diagrams the same? If not, Can you explain the different nuances between the two? THANK YOU :)

    Is it me that I'm not understanding correct or the first loop diagram at time 0:49 has the the arrows on both bottom loops are wrong going the wrong direction? The left top loop is going counterclockwise, right? So, the R arrow is also traveling counterclockwise. The lower left arrows are traveling clockwise, but notice the arrow around the R. The arrow is traveling counterclockwise. The same problem exists with the lower right side. Am I wrong or you all have a typo? Let me know, please.We are learning systems thinking in grad school.

    Thanks for the loop diagram information.
    Just one observation. I doubt you can bring data pointing to inequality driving conflicts of vice versa. Not even simple to build as conflicts might have many variables of influence. Keeping political views away helps on driving personal thoughts and so, diversity of thinking... in this case accepting my view that this doesn't work (based on reality by the way).
    That aside, thanks for the technical info, very useful!

    In the last example the 6th loop is a balancing one(because odd number of -) but the round arrow is wrong or is the 5th one?

    Thanks for the interesting video! At 9:20, as there are fewer resources per person, shouldn't there be a minus in life expectancy and therefore also a plus in deaths?

    • @DonnaGurule
      @DonnaGurule  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alexander, Thank you for your comment. My apologies for missing it earlier. Your statement should be true. The thing to keep in mind is that when you start each factor (e.g., Resources, Life Expectancy, Deaths) in a Causal Loop Diagram, you assume an increase or positive in that variable. Then, the + or - outcome at the end of the arrow makes sense.

      Hi Dr. Gurule,
      Thank you for your video. I actually have the same question and I read your response to Alexander and I am still confused. So does this mean that the CLD is incorrect and it should in fact be a (-) at the life expectancy arrow and a (+) at the deaths arrow?

    where you loose me is at 9:35min you say population is increasing then resources decrease then life expectancy decrease (But there a positive sign) then you say rate of deaths will increase but you have a negative sign ...

    Hey thankyou so much for video but i'm confused with quiz no #4. For the loop of number 5, is that reinforcing ? I think the answer is balancing because more grass can make less soil erosion and from soil erosion can make less new grass growth.
    Thankyou!

    • @rloggen
      @rloggen 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      More grass leads to less soil erosion. Less soil erosion leeds to more grass growth. More grass growth leads to more grass. : reinforcing.
