I have MX Master 3 for Mac. I used it on my old iMac and it was great. Now I have the MAc Studio and it's a nightmare. The biggest issue is that the scroll wheel often stops working. Sometimes every day or a few times per day. Sometimes it works for a whole week. Then suddenly it stops. Total pain.
I would scroll to the bottom of the comments to see if anyone else has these problems, but of course the scroll wheel has stopped working....

BUYER BEWARE - If you have an M1 Mac, DO NOT BUY this mouse (March 2022).
I never comment on TH-cam, but just like the uploader I feel so strongly about the issues with the MX Master 3 on M1 Mac that I have to say something. I work in IT and believe me when I say this has been the most frustrating peripheral and software experience I've ever had. It's utterly infuriating that a mouse that is marketed specifically for a Mac, and that is so expensive, is so broken and unsupported.
This isn't something that can be fixed on our end, it's something that Logitech must recognise and provide a fix for in both Firmware and Software (assuming it's not a hardware incompatibility). Logitech has not provided any meaningful support or fix in the last 15 months, I'll leave it up to you to decide if you think that's going to change.
I've returned my mouse and would advise anyone considering purchasing it to look elsewhere until Logitech brings out a new model.

M1 Macbook Air, MX Master 3 user here.
If you are a mac user unistall logitech software and get SteerMouse.
I've had similar issues, most annoying was intermittent horizontal scrolling.
Absolutely random on and off, 2 seconds here, 5 seconds there and because horizontal scroll was one of the main reasons I went for mx master 3, I started to look for the solution.
Logitech support is a joke. Once I uninstalled all logitech software I realised that all the issues disapeared so it's not hardware incompatibility.
Of course after uninstalling logitech software I couldn't customize buttons and scrolls the way I like, but then I've found SteerMouse.
Way more ways to customize scrolls and buttons and no issues anymore.

With the USB receiver, the MX Master 3 worked flawlessly for me. I can't say the same for MX Master 3s, though. They've introduced this new "Logi Bolt" receiver, and the experience is lacking so far. I think there are no issues with tracking, but the Bolt software on MACOS is half-baked and doesn't allow changing the DPI.. Or anything, for that matter. "Logitech Options" is quite solid, though.

I'm at the same crossroads, I have had the Logitech MX Vertical mouse for over a year, I like it but I have the same problems on my Macbook pro M1, they have been partially solved with the unifier, it's not perfect at all, super annoying because it's an expensive mouse. Today the wheel has stopped working, I've tried to repair it and nothing worked!! As a graphics designer, I need an ergonomic mouse, so I was thinking to opt for the MX Master, but I don't want to have the same problems, especially if it doesn't even come with unifying. I hope we find some other similar mouse that is not Logitech, I really need it!! Thank you for the informative video, subscribing

Glad someone talks about this issue. I bought the MX Master 3S for my MacBook M1 Pro and I was totally disappointed by the way it moves the cursor. If I try to make small circles with my trackpad it is totally smooth. With the MX Master, it is totally jittering. Find that very unpleasant and inconvenient to work, because hitting buttons on screen is impaired comparing with the trackpad. Even though I never experienced these jumps you had on yours. Sent my first back to Amazon and my new one is a bit better, but I think I'll try to use an external USB transmitter as you advised. Or I'll get my self an Apple mouse and try to use it plugged in ;)

I found a solution to the Logitech mouse issue with the Mac Studio... if you use a USB-C to lightning converter to connect your mouse's USB receiver to then there are no issues. If you connect it to the USB C port, there's all kinds of skipping, lag, it's terrible... there is no disruption when you connect the receiver to the adaptor in the lightning port. 🐁

I'm still replacing it with an MMO mouse for video editing, both because I don't like the ergos myself, and because the battery life and button placement aren't great.
Also, many mice I've used have SIDE scrolling with the main wheel. Just push it to one or the other side and viola.

I use the wired Logitech MX 518 and G400 on the Mac Studio with Sonoma 14.1.1.
Both mice actually worked well until Ventura.
With the last Sonoma update, however, the problems started. When moving objects on the desktop, they keep getting stuck. They can be moved, but these delays are annoying.
When I work with Adobe programs, there are display problems with the cursor and some tools. When work palettes are moved, they drag slowly as if on a rubber band. This was not the case before Sonoma. However, if I use the Magic Mouse, which is connected to the Mac via Bluetooth, I don't have these problems. Very strange. But I think the Magic Mouse is a real ergonomic disaster.
It doesn't matter whether I use the two Logitech mice with the Logitech software or with the universal driver USB Overdrive - the problems occur in both cases.
I already suspected that Apple might be deliberately preventing the use of third-party mice. But that is certainly wrong.

I guess I was super lucky cause I have never had such issues with my MacBook pro M2 max with the Mx Master 3
Also, I know I'm playing devil's advocate but the reason the magic mouse has the charger upside down IS because they want people to use it wireless, so the wire doesn't stretch and hang with the computer, comparatively the keyboard/Trackpad doesn't move like the mouse does, they stay stationary because of which there's no practical determent to having them plugged in while charging but the mouse does. (Although I do agree with the ergonomics part)

    Warning: Long post
Here’s my experience. I’m using a MacBook Air M1 with an external monitor and keyboard and Magic Mouse, iPad Gen 7, and an HP windows PC. For various reasons I am not willing to trash the Microsoft OS machine and the apps I am using there. The PC usage is with a K350 BT keyboard and M510 BT mouse. Both have been easy to use and very dependable, with long battery life (for me). My complaint after I got my Macbook was the constant shuffling of keyboards and mice when switching from one to the other. My prospective solution was an MX Keys and the MX3 mouse. Shortly after receiving both, I discovered Apple’s Universal Display feature. What a game-changer. Now the keyboard and Apple mouse can be used on both my M1 and iPad. Seamless usage, in my opinion. Super easy to use those two peripherals on the Apple devices. And the keyboard easily communicates with the PC when I need it. So now I have one keyboard, instead of two. Unlike you, I’m not yet disgusted with the Magic Mouse. It serves my needs well enough, but of course doesn’t work with the PC. So, should I open and use the MX3?
Well, I agree with you about many of the annoyances with that rodent. And, the M510 has not failed me over several years, so why trash it? If I switched to the MX3, I would be “flipping the switch” back and forth when switching machines anyway, so why waste that US$99, simply for more buttons that I may or may not make use of? Besides, I think it is a bit ugly.
So, I sent the unopened mouse back to Amazon for a refund, but kept the MX Keys. Superb keyboard for my usage, with easy switching among machines, long battery life in my experience, but a bit pricey at $120. When switching to the PC, I throw one switch on the keyboard and pick up the M510 and “Away we go” as Ralph Cramden used to say. One keyboard on my desk, and two mice. Plenty of room now.
You asked for it, and that’s my take on the subject. Thanks for the video, and your well-considered opinion.

While he could've just used his brain in the first place and ask himself if he really needs this mouse for his usecase, which clearly is a NO because he's ranting about it not having a wire, completely missing the point why you want to buy this mouse.
Then instead of being aware of the crappyness of Apple hardware: bluetooth sucks. He goes and blames Logitech for the incompetent and highly overpayed QA engineers at Apple clearly not doing their job to validate the Bluetooth connectivity.
The whole solution is simple: pair with the bolt USB dongle.
If he would complain about Logitech not using USB-C for the bolt dongle: then yes he would've had a point. Maybe he did, didn't watch the video anymore after the 7 minute mark..

    • @sebastiantrauter2368
      @sebastiantrauter2368 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@meh8099 his arguments are pretty much right I would say. I mean if Logitech brings something on the market and then also brings out specific mac versions of that product, the customer can expect a fully functional product right? If Bluetooth would be the only reason why the MX is not working correctly, there would be nothing that Logitech could do since it's an Apple problem. But I guess it's not just the Bluetooth. Other Logitech products work way better (MX Vertical for example) and the magic mouse 2 has no problems at all (except the shitty form factor 😅).
So the rant is basically about companies that release unfinished products and about yay sayers that are either sponsored or are on the hype train because not many have something negative to say about the MX. Maybe their expectations are way lower but from a neutral point of view, the MX Master 3 is (was) way overpriced for what it can do. It's a different story now since the newer version is on the market but it almost took me 2 years to get used to the MX with it's issues and i'm not using logi options anymore since the software is just not what it could be.
All in all the point of the video was to show people, that the product has some issues under certain circumstances and that it's definitely NOT the new standard mouse for professionals, creatives or powerusers. I was blinded by all these good reviews and was disappointed when I got my MX. That's why I find negative reviews way more helpful than the positives tbh 😅

Wasn't sure if it was something to do with it having to go theough a usb a to usb c hub or that Mac's (in my opinion) have an inferior operating system.
The mouse is just ok, not really what you need for your role but for general office it is fine. I needed the ability to swap between machines which is why I bought the set. Mac/PC/Pi.

I do have a logitech MX master 2. But i always revert to my Apple Magic mice. It just works better. It's nice for scrolling, (especially sideways on the internet.) Or on the time line in Logic Pro X & Final Cut Pro X. So the logitech MX master 2 lays here in one of my drawers as a back up for when my AMM battery is low and i need to charge it. Then i will usually take out the MXM 2 or i just take my Apple Magic trackpad 2. So i'm still in search of a good mice. But also for a good keyboard that works nicely on my Mac. I've been looking to the Keychron keyboard's (with numpad) but i've recently heard their mice's are pretty good as well. So i'm going to look a bit more into that. I personally do like gaming keyboard's as well. Especially the Corsair/Logitech915 & the SteelSeries Apex Pro Keyboards really appeal to me. But i know that the compatibility with a Mac isn't good with those gaming keyboards as they are made for Windows.
I do think my only option is either the Keychron or go with a Logitech MX Keys. I would like to try out a mechanical keyboard. Preferably "half height." I'm not sure which switch i'm going for. Though i do think it will either be a red or brown one. I don't have any other experience with this. But those 2 switches looks most interesting to me.

When I am not using my Wacom tablet, I am sharing an MX Master 3 with both my M1 MacBook Pro laptop and iMac 27, both running Ventura. I find the MX3 to be extremely comfortable to use...WHEN IT'S WORKING! When I am on my iMac, it is not uncommon for the MX3 to lose its Bluetooth connection. I actually came here to see if you had a fix. I don't have a noticeable lag, but for graphics work, I pretty much only use the Wacom. I'm not a gamer, but could see why a lag would suck. The Magic Mouse is a joke for anything beyond surfing the Internet or doing some writing.

I just bought a Logitech G604 hoping to solve the skipping cursor issue which it did with DPI settings and report sensitivity. What really is driving me crazy is that G Hub software, and Logi Options wont hold their settings you program in. Hit the button, nothing happens. Check your settings, yep still there. This is on my 2012 intel mac mini. Very flaky and beyond absurd. Apple bears a lot of blame in not providing a full range of OEM mice for their computers.

I miss buttons & bezier control points/nodes all day and had to enable the Windows feature that automatically puts the cursor over a button, or I would be much slower in general. The device software Options is awful and doesn't let you assign custom commands to buttons in the same was as the gaming mice like the G502 (a MUCH better mouse for anything). There are no features on this mouse for designing and making a precise selection in PhotoShop makes me wanna break things, as it'll go too big/too small/too big. So inaccurate! And if you wanna control 2 PCs/Macs, use the Synergy app, so you can use a keyboard, too and control Linux/Mac/PCs with the same K/M with only software via your network. No more pressing a button on the bottom of the mouse (stupid placement), you just scroll from one PC's screen to another!

honestly, i've been so dissatisfied with available choices for mac first keyboard and mouses that i just resorted to using almost only my mac's built in keyboard and touchpad (even for gaming, when i do), and it works well for me. i know you've mentioned that using the magic trackpad strains your hands, so i don't think that would work for you.
it kind of sucks that short of logitech there's not many good high quality mice that are also not completely gaming focused.

Don't remember why, but as an aging boomer, with very basic use-needs to say the least, ended up using an old Apple corded mouse plugged into the back of my 27"imac via usb... I also got tired of going the bluetooth route with the keyboard so I have my mini apple magic board plugged in usbc (?) as well... that's 2 ports taken; so what (in my case). ... ... I'm getting a new M1 Mini with the Studio Display (as soon as they can send it) but CAN"T FIND A "GOOD basic MOUSE"... they don't seem to even sell these anymore. PS: the reason was the frequent disconnection problems with bluetooth... Has that improved over the last 5+ years???

I have the same issues with Logitech intermittence/incompatibility. And frustrated at the money wasted on them.
I now use a trackpad on my left hand, since I use the Pencil and iPad a lot to scribble notes with the right. I'm thinking I might tolerate the Magic Mouse for the right hand for the minority time I spend doing more drag & drop work or fine work - which the trackpad isn't so great for. If I have issues with the Magic Mouse, I might try the Mello silicone cushion for it.
One of Apple's great deficiencies is that sometimes they seem to believe their own hype about their design capabilities.

This is what Logitech says about designing products for Apple devices! 🤔
“ Logitech accessories just go with Apple® experiences - and that’s completely by design. In fact, we’ve been designing for, and sometimes with, Apple for over a decade. The result is a suite of tools that elevate every Apple experience with more functionality, more customization, and more comfort. Now, that’s what we call magic.”

I've been using a Logitech M570 with a MacPro since 2008. I had to replace it after 6 years. Since its replacement in 2020. At the moment I am using the M570 with the unifying receiver on a dongle/adapter for my MBP M1 Max. I don't like having bluetooth on constantly. Why Logitech hasn't at least made and included a unifying receiver with usb-c after all these YEARS is utterly mystifying. There is of course the lack of wired usage which you have already made express mention of. I could have opted for the M575 which also can connect via bluetooth. I already have another cheap ($30 USD) ergonomic mouse connecting via usb or bluetooth, which I use with my tablet or phone. All these considerations and shortcomings, I apply to Logitech's keyboards as well when operating on Apple Silicon. There's more similar nonsense I could expose about both Apple and Logitech, but I'd rather use my time much more productively. Have a great day sir, and keep up the honest and to-the-point(s) reviews. Thumbs up simply for using the expression "chinwag" - which I first heard from my Kiwi friend several years ago. 😁

I love the magic mouse have been using it for years with no problems, I'm thinking on buying the MX master 3s for a couple of reasons, 1 use 2 machines during the day a Macbook Pro, and a custom build PC running Linux and rarelly windows. the fact that I can change from 1 device to another with the same keyboard and the mouse follows.
I may not having the same issues with the mouse as mine is still intel based. If I could use my magic mouse across all my systems I would with a shadow of a doubt. :)
This to say there are use cases for these products, easily change machines, copy and paste files between 2 systems like Mac and Windows (not sure this one works with linux)... Aaargh, again that Magic Mouse "weird choice to put the charging port at the bottom" discussion again ...
The Magic Mouse is designed with swiping gestures in mind. For comfortable swiping the surface has to be as low as possible. Hence the low design. Putting a port at the front or back conflicts with that design, because then you have to raise the surface to make room for the port.
The battery life is very long. You get a warning when it's low, so you have all the time and opportunity to charge it. If you ignore the warnings and run out, then a 5 minute charge (the time to get a coffee) is enough to get another 3 hours.
Yes, the Magic Mouse isn't suitable for continuously using it many hours in a row. Most people don't do that. Stu isn't in the "most people" usage group. But that doesn't mean it's a bad mouse. I think it's a great mouse. It's not a "one size fits all" mouse. I personally hate / dislike the large mouses like the MX ones. I understand that they're great for some people. But not for me.
So, please stop complaining about the port at the bottom. Just get a mouse that suits your work scenario. Aargh!

I have both mouses and here is my opinion (I use them on Macbook Pro i9 chip, mostly with unifying receiver, but sometimes with bluetooth):
    1) MX master 3S came with a new unifying receiver, the new one, it was in the box.
    2) 3S is not compatible with older receiver (and the same for Craft keyboards - if you have a combo 3S + Craft, you need to use 2 receivers, or just bluetooth).
    3) The same for the software - Options+ is not compatible with either 2S or Craft keyboard (you need 2 versions of the software if you have a combo)
    4) Thumb wheel on both mouses is something I never liked to use, it's not precise enough / clicky to be usable comfortably in my opinion (for example when scrolling timeline on Premiere Pro)
    5) Ergonomics of 2 extra buttons close to the thumbwheel (usually Back and Next) are much better on 3S. On 2S they are so close together that are hard to press (especially the upper one is difficult to press)
    6) Scroll wheel on both mouses is in a very similar position, I felt it natural to scroll on both mouses, great to use on both mouses
    7) Side button (below the thumb) is easier to press on 2S. 3S has a smaller clickable area for this button under your thumb. But 2S had a problem with rubber around it (after couple of months it gets deformated and stuck because there is a plastic next to it, with not too much free space - if if rubber gets deformated with time, then you cannot freely press the button - seems to be fixed in 3S, but time will tell)
    8) 2S has a problem with screws, they used a very thin plastic inside for screws, and it basically just crumbles. After a year of 2 of using, you start hearing noises of something in your mouse, you open it and you see small bits of plastic from around screws everywhere. It gets worse in time (possibly planned aging of the product - so you have to replace it)
    9) I always had problems with Options software on MacOS. Usually it was not loading my custom buttons/presets configuration when starting the system. Doesn't seem to be an issue with new Options software.
    10) I used 2S for 4 years of daily using and it was never broken (except broken screw plastics), always working.
    11) Overall I'm happy after the upgrade, and I would not choose 2S again due to (in my opinion) improved ergonomics and software.

I am surprised no one sue Logitech for false advertising of this mouse.

finally someone who actually records and points out issues I've been having ever since I got this God Forsaken Mouse lol! I honestly just end up using my trackpad on the mac and a g502 hero on my PC because I can't use the MX master 3s on anything without getting that jitter on my mac or pc with the bolt receiver as well.

Really? You have a newer version, 3s, and it still has a jitter problem?
