This was such a breath of fresh air. Thank you. And I love that you're an improver, too. Improv teaches us how failure is okay, and not really "failing". It's learning how to let something go and move on to the next thing, to accept that it happened and that you can carry that forward with positivity.
Hope everything goes well with your shift! I know I'll be subscribing to see what you do next!

    Well documented.
We need more videos on quitting photography as a job.
As a hobby it is fulfilling, but it drains you completely as a profession.

Gotta adapt and change with the times. After a brain injury 4 years ago, shooting a 8hr wedding day is just not possible now. I only have 1-2hrs of energy before my brain shuts down for 2-3hrs. So time to adapt, one off 30min family shoots, 1hr little league sports teams, real estate, product photography are all now possible options to adapt to the changes. I am building portfolio this year with the plans to jump start my old business next year. Wishing the best of luck my friend. Shout out from Milton Ontario.

I'm not in business as a photographer but you offer words of wisdom in case I go that route so thank you very much for being open and honest good luck with your business in the future

It's a really hard time right now, for a lot of people. I hope you stick around. Please let me know if there's anything you'd like me to cover.

I really needed to hear this. I'm really struggling creatively and just not finding passion in my photoshoots anymore. I want to shift my focus but I'm unsure of what direction to go in at the moment.

Emily, I'm in the same boat right now. Losing my studio has really taken the wind out of my sails.

I shoot real estate and am in the same boat. It's such a hard pill to swallow.

I’m in Kingston, was thinking of starting next summer as a second shooter... so I’m doing other things in the meantime and trying to build up a portfolio from weddings 👰 I took over the years.

Something to consider: a lot of the weddings happening in Ontario in 2022 are ones the clients booked in 2018 and 2019 for 2020 and 2021 weddings that have been rescheduled multiple times now. There will be a lot of couples looking to book their weddings once Ontario comes out of the back-end of the pandemic in 2022, but those will be for weddings in 2023 through 2025. Are you prepared to wait that long to have income from weddings? For most people, it's not feasible. I don't want to discourage you, but I do want to make sure people know exactly what to prepare for moving for. All the best.

@@StudioBuilderI appreciate the timing insight. for me its a potential side gig for photog friends who do weddings already looking for a talented second shooter, I generally be the guy you call if you have a last minute cancellation. Possibly not feasible but like you I'm not "all in" in just one kind of content creation so I'm not "waiting" for income in that sense.

I'm on the same boat as you... to me wedding photography just isn't a viable source of income even if one is really good at it.
