I think that there is an incredible supply of parts available via MG Owners Club, I believe the club in the UK have all the original tooling for producing body panels. They even produce replacement body shells..... Well worth getting in contact with them if you get stuck.
Hi Josh. I'm a 74y/o long time retired mechanic in the uk. That series of engine was one of the best ever produced, treat it with love and respect. Between 1960 and 1972 that engine in competition won 32 major rallies around the world, including winning the Monte Carlo rally 3 times. However, changing the Oil Filter is about the worst job on the car but, you have to do it to keep that engine good. I would rate changing the oil filter as harder than cleaning out all that rat crap. The original carb's were twin SU's, simple but brilliant and easiest ever to set up and tune. That twin Weber tells me the car was driven by an enthusiast with a heavy right foot. The rust areas on both front wings were notorious for extreme corrosion, they need a lot of love and care but the car is worthy of it. The roll bar is after-market which again points to being driven by an enthusiast. The front spoiler and amber lights below the front bumper are also after-market (unless the lights were a US spec' item). The hand brake is probably a Fly-Off for rally starts, so if it works in an unusual way don't think it's faulty. Also check carefully around the side jacking points for serious corrosion, they are a weak point. Fun fact for Mrs. Sleeperdude, Small Petrol Tank... If that engine is properly tuned, you should get at least 30mpg even from your smaller US gallon. From a UK gallon which is approx 20% more than US I would expect that engine to give approx 40mpg. She mentioned the tank was only 6 gallon but that will be UK gallons so, maybe 7½ to 8 US gallons. However with that Weber carb' the car was clearly used in a 'sporty' way so that would affect mpg. In good order that car would have been capable of over 100mph with the top down. You should have no problem finding mechanical parts but the trim, the soft top, and the tonneau cover could be difficult. You might need to get them made. The seat trim with the Tan coloured bars could well be original, they did lots of that kind of fancy trim.

Sorry to hear about Puddin! A loss of a pet is like losing a part of the family! My Mom bought one of these in the 80’s. We took a road trip to my Grandpa’s house. 78 miles with a family of five. There is no back seat so me and brother rode on top of convertible with our legs stuffed behind seat! Thanks for new content! Bringing back a lot of great memories! .

I had a girlfriend that had a MG Midget... I was 6'3" 225 lbs. She was 5'4" 125 lbs. She fit perfectly in it. I looked like Mr. Potato Head when I drove with my head sticking a foot above the windscreen.. It was hilarious, but so much fun to drive in the N. GA mountains~~! Then, the next girlfriend had a Miata.. Same, same thing. Then, I bought me a Porsche 911 Carrera and life has been great... Very comfortable !! I still drive one at 70 years old. Love it !

I had a '79 MGB Ltd Ed.... Oh it was purdy! Spent a lot of time in the shop or on a tow truck 🤣 but I loved it! Had ski racks on the luggage rack.... 2 weeks after I sold it , burned to the ground in the guys driveway.. Someday I'll have another one. Loved that car! 😍

So sorry about Pudding. As a dad to many animals, I know how it feels to lose one. Enjoying this episode. I currently own 4 British sports cars myself. Parts availability is great! The quality of some of the parts, especially rubber bits, not so great. Prime case of you get what pay for, unfortunately. As for a name, maybe something British, like Lily, or Elizabeth (Beth). Mine are Bartholomew (Bart), Cecil, Melvin, and Quinn (short for Harlequin because of the different colors).

I saw that as she turned away from the camera. I lost Rudy about 3+ years ago (cat) and still miss him. He was very sick and I gave him lots of care and TLC And he made it to 11 1/2. Vet was amazed as at around 5+ he wasn’t doing well. Had an operation done that he needed and nursed him along the last 6 years of his life. I have Tom n Jerry now they’re brothers. Sweet cats but Rudy was special. Rocky has a spot in my heart too!! He’s awesome

Hi every one, wow, i live in UK and back in the 80s i did strip and total re-build in a round arch Midget too a year, changed the cam and exhaust man8ifold, added 2 45 Webber carbs ported the head, resprayed went really great. i had 3 in total, great little cars.
Its rough to lose a pet but yall give all the animals such a good life with lots of love and family togetherness.. just know she was loved and taken good care of and certainly had minimal suffering,
due to the disinfective properties of the chlorine i will say that yes a pool should count... And OMG... my heart goes out to your whole amazing family in the loss of a pet... i know that they become members of your family. Hugs and Prayers...

Man a very nasty car for sure but the engine bay cleaned up really well. You are right about removing the finders to save them and maybe the frame. Looking forward to hearing it run. Hey Josh and family, y’all are a big inspiration on my grandson and I. We recently bought a car that is your favorite type. A 1979 Ford Pinto Station Wagon field find, been sitting for 33 years! Lots of deposits full up to the valve cover just like the MG midget…and inside too of course. Engine is stuck and we’re hoping to free it up and do our own “will it start”. Thanks for all the great family entertainment videos, we always look forward to the newest post. Keep up the great work! So sorry to hear of y’all’s baby goat passing. Love the "will it start" videos. We're sorry to hear of the goat passing. Very good chance it was something eaten. We would suggest you do a search of property for wild parsnip, lost one ourselves due to that.
We enjoyed the video alot as usual. We were also very saddened to hear of Puddins passing. Our thoughts go out to your family as we consider our pets family members and losing one is hard. Keep up the good work and try to keep Rocky in line.

Being from the UK,I can say that the spoiler is definitely not a factory fitted part!lol Parts for these are very easy to get hold of and there are plenty of suppliers that will ship to the states. Looks to be in reasonable condition rust wise.
Dear Mrs. Sleeperdude, mad respect, the way you dug into that trunk was great, not only cleaning it out but for finding all of the parts, I think you might have found them all. You win the award for "More than a woman, More than a woman to me" congratulations, you may now take a bow, seriously very nice job on the little Mg. The second most valuable player is Scooter, I loved how he checked every inch of that car and I was hoping he flush out that rat. But I was also afraid he would get ahold it. I use to have a little terrier about twice the size of Scooter and watching him brought back some great memories. Honorable mention Mr. Sleeperdude (Josh) and of course the kids. That car was really, really bad and it was looking much much better at the end. Warning Mom Look out Wa-Wa has her eyes on that one, she got to be turning Drivers Age fairly soon. I was born and bought up just a few miles from the MG factory in Abingdon Oxfordshire , a friend did an apprenticeship there , shame production ended in the early 80s, the engine is a BMC A series been around since 1951 until year 2000, could be either a 1275cc or 1500cc , originally fitted with twin S.U carbs ,very simple engines easy to work on .....♥ from the UK .

Enjoying this episode. I currently own 4 British sports cars myself. Parts availability is great! The quality of some of the parts, especially rubber bits, not so great. Prime case of you get what pay for, unfortunately.
As for a name, maybe something British, like Lily, or Elizabeth (Beth). Mine are Bartholomew (Bart), Cecil, Melvin, and Quinn (short for Harlequin because of the different colors).
I am so sorry about Puddin. She was such a sweet little thing. Scooty was so in the zone that even the vacuum wasn't scaring him. Happy birthday to Squeezy. Now to the car, that dang rat even scared me! Sweet ride tho.

I saw that as she turned away from the camera. I lost Rudy about 3+ years ago (cat) and still miss him. He was very sick and I gave him lots of care and TLC And he made it to 11 1/2. Vet was amazed as at around 5+ he wasn’t doing well. Had an operation done that he needed and nursed him along the last 6 years of his life. I have Tom n Jerry now they’re brothers. Sweet cats but Rudy was special. Rocky has a spot in my heart too!! He’s awesome

Hi every one, wow, i live in UK and back in the 80s i did strip and total re-build in a round arch Midget too a year, changed the cam and exhaust man8ifold, added 2 45 Webber carbs ported the head, resprayed went really great. i had 3 in total, great little cars.

Man a very nasty car for sure but the engine bay cleaned up really well. You are right about removing the finders to save them and maybe the frame. Looking forward to hearing it run. Thanks for all the videos.
For only a few years they made the MG Midget with round rear wheel wells, I think these round wheel well versions are the best looking.

Hey Josh and family, y’all are a big inspiration on my grandson and I. We recently bought a car that is your favorite type. A 1979 Ford Pinto Station Wagon field find, been sitting for 33 years! Lots of deposits full up to the valve cover just like the MG midget…and inside too of course. Engine is stuck and we’re hoping to free it up and do our own “will it start”. Being from the UK,I can say that the spoiler is definitely not a factory fitted part!lol Parts for these are very easy to get hold of and there are plenty of suppliers that will ship to the states. Looks to be in reasonable condition rust wise.

Dear Mrs. Sleeperdude, mad respect, the way you dug into that trunk was great, not only cleaning it out but for finding all of the parts, I think you might have found them all. You win the award for "More than a woman, More than a woman to me" congratulations, you may now take a bow, seriously very nice job on the little Mg. The second most valuable player is Scooter, I loved how he checked every inch of that car and I was hoping he flush out that rat. But I was also afraid he would get ahold it. I use to have a little terrier about twice the size of Scooter and watching him brought back some great memories. Honorable mention Mr. Sleeperdude (Josh) and of course the kids. That car was really, really bad and it was looking much much better at the end. Warning Mom Look out Wa-Wa has her eyes on that one, she got to be turning Drivers Age fairly soon. I wish Miss Obstinate (Squeegy) a very Happy Birthday, you go girl. And lastly and the saddest news of the video, goodbye to Puddin and so sorry for your loss, she was a very cute and way to young to pass, only thing you can figure is that God had a need for the cutest little goat that ever lived. 🙏🐐

I was born and bought up just a few miles from the MG factory in Abingdon Oxfordshire , a friend did an apprenticeship there , shame production ended in the early 80s, the engine is a BMC A series been around since 1951 until year 2000, could be either a 1275cc or 1500cc , originally fitted with twin S.U carbs ,very simple engines easy to work on .....♥ from the UK .
