    The Benjamin Franklin is by far my favorite bridge into and out of the city. It offers the best views and dumps you right into downtown Philly when entering PA.

    Glassboro, NJ is my hometown. (I'm in Gastonia, NC now)They never got that cross-Gloucester County highway.. . I have many memories of crossing all of those bridges. But some of my favorites were when they would have fireworks from the now long gone Campbell's Field Baseball stadium in Camden. Walking across when they shot off the fireworks after a game on Friday nights.

    Forgot to mention that the Tacony-Palmyra is the only one of these bridges that opens up to allow ships to pass by.

    When I was a tow truck driver back home we used to call 76 the Short Kill Expressway. Whether it was your schedule or God Forbid your life it’s always a mess, especially during a nor’easter west of the Belmont Ave Exit!!

    Those bridges you drove are the only bridges that connect the Philadelphia metropolitan division with the Camden, NJ metropolitan division of the Delaware Valley.

    Some items you did not mention about the Takony - Palmyra bridge. It is the only bridge named for the towns it links, Palmyra NJ and Takony (really a neighborhood section of Philadelphia). Also It is the only bridge between Philadelphia and New Jersey. that opens for ships on the Delaware river as it is the lowest bridge of them all. Did you know the toll used to be 5 cents to cross.a long time ago ? Another crossing is the Burlington-Bristol bridge to the north, also opens and closes for ships.

    • @MileageMikeTravels

      5 cents? That sounds like a fairytale in modern times with the toll prices I've seen these days, that's amazing.

      @@jbgroup1, they are the Lower Trenton Bridge and the Delaware River Bridge, but they could get congested. There's US 1/Trenton Morrisville Toll Bridge that only have a toll for southbound if you want to skip congestion.

  • @OldAndGettingOlder
    @OldAndGettingOlder ปีที่แล้ว

    The toll structure remains the same further up the Delaware. I-295 and Rte 202 bridges are the same way. No charge to go to Jersey, but pay the other way. Why? This really makes no sense.
