@Matt Donaldson You’re not wrong mate. We’re lucky enough to remember how it was and how good it could be. I realise the irony of writing this comment on TH-cam, and tbh I’m grateful to TH-cam for being our time machine, and allowing us to go back and remember these times. Childhood in the 80’s was like nothing else.
If we had internet gossip back then you would know Hannibal from the a team was a mean drunk, Michael Knight was a jerk who treated his fans rudely and Captain Kirk and Spock actually hated each other. Aren't you glad you didn't know any of that growing up it would've ruined it.
Makes me think I'm 13 again, healthy, carefree life at that age compared to getting old with health problems now. Wish I had a time machine and could go back to that age.😊😅❤
I am glad to find a community of people who love this movie as much as I do. We all understand something that transcends physicality. The truth within us resonated with this movie! We are all "The Navigator!"
Just played this tonight for my daughter to put her to sleep, 15 mins later... out like a light. I loved this movie when I was her age. :) There's something about 80's music that provides a level of peace
The music, the acting was in my opinion convincing and the love between David and Max was not only believable, it was powerful and brings tears to my eyes even today. I’m now 42. Love this movie
Im 37 and I was obsessed with this movie and is still one of my favorites! So much so that when the only copy the library had was not working I begged them for over six months until they finally reordered another copy and I watched it over and over! The music actually brings tears to my eyes and the touching relationship they had I think resonates with us because it brings us to the truth within us that we are eternal and that there is an infinite number of intelligent life that we are always connected to even if its not on a conscious level.
been listening for years best film and soundtrack ive heard ever, i remember having this on DVD my father got me growing up. i was born in the wrong era (born 97) 80s films and soundtracks are so different. LOVE THIS FILM Robot Romb gives me chills and hairs stand up from the back of my neck everytime.
The soundtrack for "Flight of the Navigator" was composed by Alan Silvestri and is notable for its entirely electronic composition. Silvestri used the Synclavier, one of the first digital multi-track recorders and samplers, to create the futuristic and otherworldly sounds that define the score.
I'm 40 years old...hearing the first few notes of the first song almost had me in tears. Great movie, but more than that, it's a great representation of the time it came out. Shit just felt good back then. Real good. A type of good that I fear is long gone. Young people: Stay playful. Learn to love NOW. Spend time with your family NOW. Do the right thing ESPECIALLY when its unpopular. Your idea of what "cool" is, is WRONG. The "weird" or possibly awkward boy or girl that was always forgotten about - the one with all the hobbies and interests that everyone laughed at or talked shit about and never got to know - that person is fucking cool. Then and even more so in the future. PLEASE...Someone just go sit down next to the awkward kid and say "hi". Ask them what's up ... how ya doin'? Girls: quit being so damn mean! Especially you "pretty" ones. You now what will make you more beautiful than ever? Being a sweetheart. Being kind. Genuine. Realistic. Go talk to that awkward quiet kid that you KNOW thinks you are the most beautiful thing in the world. Don't approach them like it's charity work...dont make a joke out of it. Trust me, you want a real guy/girl. Ain't nothing that the big varsity quarterback can do to keep you safe that the quiet kid wont do in an instant to make sure you're safe. Summary to all: Quit bein' dicks. Make multicolored babies. Lives matter. LEAVE THE GOD DAMN COLORS OUT OF IT. Smoke pot, not crack. Bring back the word RAD. Eat marshmallows out of the bag. Laugh when you fart in the bathtub, because its fucking funny. Pay attention to food labels, or you'll end up with fat free, reduced sodium, soy based BS and non-alcoholic beer. Play Madlibs. Take your neighbors garbage can to the street on garbage day. Eat cheese. It's good and leads to a shapely ass. (My beautiful woman has a shapely ass and eats cheese, so my advice should be solid). On the subject of asses. When your lady inevitably asks you if a certain item of clothing makes her ass look fat there is only one answer you need to remember: "Damn right it does!" And then walk up and kiss her and while grabbing a handful of butt. That's it, that's all I've learned in life.
I'm 35 and I'm with you. The first few notes made me well up, because this movie and soundtrack reminds me of so much of what our culture has lost over the past couple decades. This film and this soundtrack is a pure and authentic representation of a beautiful time period in our history. And we've all lost the innocence and optimism of that time. I was totally with you until you said "make multicolored babies" and immediately contradicted yourself by saying to leave the colors out of it. You should've just stuck with the latter statement in my opinion. Love who you love. Their skin tone and those of the babies you make together is irrelevant - because all of our colors are irrelevant. The love you have for each other? That's what matters. Color is nothing but something those in power use to divide us. THIS is where today's culture has gone wrong. Out of a supposedly well-intentioned desire to correct for past injustices, we have made things more about our differences than ever before, and it has made the world a much more toxic and hateful place. A color-blind society and cultural melting pot is infinitely preferable to today where everyone competes to see who has the most grievances to file. Our culture has regressed and I fear that the magic of the 80s and early 90s will never return.
I remember watching this movie as a young boy growing up in the 80s and being aww struck...im 42 now and this is still a great movie! Man i loved the 80s! Great sound track !

I remember when I first watched this awesome film. I was sick and hoping to be entertained while still recovering. So my mother rented it from Blockbuster Video when it was still a thing, and I just loved it all the way through. Just watched it tonight for the very first time in ages, and I gotta say: it's still fun. Definitely love Silvestri's score for it, too. In retrospect, it also kinda reminds me a bit of Harold Faltermeyer's score for *Top Gun* (which came out that same year). Radical. 😎

This is a great soundtrack to one of my favorite Disney movies, it’s disappointing that Apple Music doesn’t have this soundtrack and though a lot of the stuff that Alan Silvestri did is on Apple Music, this one is not. I think it’s time Apple Music acquires this soundtrack.
Well done with the remastering. I watched this movie last night and the sound difference is definitely there.

Mine adult life now is Avengers I’ve seen these movie before my time but hell I loved them and little did I know it would be the same composer.
Radical. 😎
I feel like a kid again......😃
When movies were magical

12:40 transporting the ship has always been my favorite musical part
What should we do about a cover for this soundtrack?
How about the scene where David halts the ship to go take a whiz?
Weird how I can pick out some of the evolutionary steps to 'The Abyss' soundtrack listening to parts of this. Never noticed it when I was younger...

This man went on to score the Avengers theme and movies :) You can sometimes hear hints of "Portals" in this soundtrack.

14:15 the sound bit was tattooed in my brain as a kid.
