Matchbox King Size Dodge Charger restoration No. K-22 Toy model cast.

The Dodge Charger is a very rare model from Matchbox's King Size version. It was produced from the beginning in 1970. It is such an interesting model that it is rarely found on the aftermarket and its prices are higher than other models of its kind. My car was complete. I had to replace two hardened tyres and one rim. These early 1970s models had the disadvantage that the rubber from the tyre dissolved the plastic rim and it was quite a hassle. I made a box according to the original photos in which this model looks phenomenal. I thank you for watching the video, I publish car repair videos on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Mine just arrived today. It is flawless as is its box. I never realized how beautiful this model really was until I actually held it in my hands. I wish that I could upload a photo of it. I bought it from an eBay seller in England and it is the nicest example that I have ever seen. Looks brand new in fact.

A beautiful restoration. This model was unusual - it's construction was more akin to a Corgi, than a Matchbox. Much prefer it with those tyred wheels, rather than the ugly 'Superfast' ones it was given a short time later.
Those boxes are more of a nostalgia hit than the model, I find.

Top class restoration that box looks original and amazing the king size dodge charger was introduced in the superfast version called dodge dragster it had massive rear wheels a big block engine sticking out of the bonnet with transfers with the word bender on the boot and doors and it was orange in colour

the tyres eat the wheels? I have two of the Cougars, and there the wheels still look good. I hope I'll stay lucky. :P do you think it's the plastic, or the tyres' rubber material?
I have found out that the vinyl tyres that are part of plastic model kits can eat up the polystyrene as well, even through a layer of car paint and base coat... :o

it means that you have come across a batch of good quality tires that do not react with plastic. I have a lot of cougars and most plastic rims are useless

@@PaulRestorer so they probably switched to cheaper tyres of poor quality which either fall off or destroy the plastic rims. I'd suspect they went from real rubber to a kind of PVC, because I had model kits where the tyres would eventually eat up the polystyrene, even through a layer of basecoat and car paint... must be the softener, I heard they can be agressive sometimes.
