4:42 SW&E Loss Table = "Special Weapons and Equipment Loss Table", ie the chance that an MI will drop or lose a piece of their carried equipment after taking damage.
I bought that game from the bookstore when I was like 15 or 16... around '85 or '86. I've had it ever since. My brother Clint also has a copy. It's a great game! I would like to see an "updated" version.
And that's vol 13 #6 of The General...the 3 is in the same color as itself and makes it hard to read... Now I just wish they would actually make the book into a film...the drop sequence haunts me to this day...being jammed in a container, shot out of a spaceship from orbit with nukes on your back...this and Forever War by Joe Haldeman both had a big impact on me as a young reader. I've looked at picking up the Forever War game from Mayfair but just can't seem to pull the trigger on it.
Decent attempt at a faithful adaptation of the novel and unusually asymmetrical, but I wouldn't put it in my own top five by a long shot. Some of the scenarios are really unbalanced, and too many of them involve the Bug player eating lunch while they hope the MI player stumbles into a few to many atomic mines while trying to scout their tunnel layout. I'll give it this, it's way the heck better than the wretched movie-based version, or the minis game for that matter.

Correct!
I bought that game from the bookstore when I was like 15 or 16... around '85 or '86.

Agreed!
Great game! I'd like to get this to the table again. I agree its a classic.
Agreed!
And this was the second or third wargame I ever played...classic...
It definitely is.

I'll make sure to wear it, especially to GenCon 2021!
Sure thing!

I've played Forever War years back, but can't remember if I liked it.
@@CenturionsReview And I remember looking it over in a shop back in the day...probably not a good sign (-:
Now here's one we used to play the heck out of after school. One of my friends was a master of tunneling. I hated it.
Squad Leader also had the programmed scenario instruction rules format as well.
Nice!
The General Vol 20, No. 4 also has some SST stuff.
Thanks! I bought a bunch of General magazine about a month ago. I'll check to see if I have that one.
@@CenturionsReview in case you don't you can find all the Avalon Hill Magazines on the web free (just google Avalon Hill Magazines)
probably my favorite game, don't get to table enough.
It's definitely one of the best games I've ever played.
Now this is a great game. I still have mine. It is worn out.
Agreed!

its General Vol 13 #6. Not Vol 1 #6. the 3 of the 13 disappears into the yellow art of the cover. =)
Thanks!
