Just for Noah to not have to wonder any more, the oldest tree in the world is the Methuselah tree, a bristlecone pine in the White Mountain range in California. It's estimated to be 4,700 years old.
That is soooo freaky because back when I was in 6th grade, my class did a play about the bone wars and there was a very painful hamilton inspired rap scene based off of that song. I played Cope btw
Also, the tree ring counting thing only works in climates with a strong annual growth cycle. In desert areas a tree may only develop a new ring once every several years, and in Equatorial climates it can be unpredictable too.
I rolled my eyes so hard at Noah when they were talking about Avatar The Last Airbender. I then paused the video and recited the whole intro by memory.
Fun fact, Wyverns are technically not dragons. In mythology, they're creatures with the head of a dragon, and they breathe poisonous gas not fire. Historically Dragons have been depicted with anything between no legs and no wings, and four legs + multiple wings. So yeah, the big lizards like Smaug's film depiction are not Wyverns.
Even more fun fact: that’s wrong. Wyverns ARE dragons. Dragons are a multicultural umbrella concept and no one vague unnamed “mythology” can really lay claim to their definition. The idea that dragons are very specifically six limbed (four legs, two wings) fire breathers is an invention of modern fiction. Dragons are wyverns and serpents and drakes and wyrms and cockatrices and what have you. The “breathes poison” interpretation is a remnant of the word wyvern evolving from the latin vipera which means viper. The word Dragon, like most terms for dragons, also is derived from a word for serpents.
Watching this episode today, for the first time, its kinda sad how Noah is treated :/ He's just an ADHD sufferer tryna answer the 1000 questions his brain thinks up in a second. Enjoying the episode but Noah seemed a lil bummed about the teasing at some points imo. I have ADHD myself and getting attitude or being teased for a "random question" really sucks tbh.

Love the podcast, hate science lessons, but love the podcast. Keep it up lads
Corry FINALLY treats Noah nice and Noah rejects it as unfair 😧
Noah's capacity to derail a conversation is gold.
Cory “there is a quiz at the end” : Noah “oh lovely” *panic increases*

The further on we go, Cope honestly just sounds more and more like a spurned lover.
Monograph is a detailed written study of a single specialized subject or a aspect of a subject.
Are you Team Cope or Team Marsh?
Sci Guys I’m team cope
Cope all the way
Cope, even though he is a bit mad
Marsh gets points for having the same birthday as Bob Ross (and me, but that's less important) but Cope is better overall
Cope of course
TEETH AREN'T BONES
Ok so plants still grow in the winter just differently. They get girth and thickness instead of height and leaves etc.

Marsh is Sherman
Impotence does not mean you're infertile, it means you are unable to achieve or sustain a penile erection... LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH THOUGH!
