A lovely insight into what is now a lost community. As I was born in the mid fifties and lived in nearby Penygraig I have vague memories of old Dinas travelling to visit my uncle who worked at mines rescue based in Apple-tree in mid Dinas.
Absolutely heartbreaking,so many were killed,God bless all Miners that died for making a living to feed their families, You don't hear of any compensation from the RICH families who made their money off the backs of these Brave men and boys, SHAME on the owners of these PITS.x

Those concrete houses were built like bunkers - but very necessary in the housing shortages after WWII
