Love the fact that at 7:40 you 'walked with the camera like this', and the result after 'adding warp stabilisation effect in post' is turning an indoor shot into an outdoor shot!!! :D :D :D
My dad is an architect and he's been wanting me to shoot the houses he made for a portfolio but couldn't do it without a wide angle lens! Thank you for this!
This is EXACTLY the type of video/lens I was looking for! I'm a GH series user and have been looking for a wider option than the Sigma 18-35. Thank you!!!
Maybe already been mentioned but this lens require a matte box for ND filters since, due to construction, it lacks filter threads. As seen in video, Andyax got flicker from a light source because he couldn't stop at 180 degrees (1/50) @ 25p or similar in a 50Hz power network. Also, since you can't get correct motion blur, be prepared to get choppy movies. So, think twice before getting this lens for video. There's a 10mm as well as a 16mm.
Beautiful footage and fantastic walk through. Thank you for creating such an easy to watch video. Will be ordering this lens soon for my Nikon D800 to film car interiors
+Rodrigo Vazquez Good Day Rodrigo, I will have to agree with you, and say that it is certainly welcomed and beats all those that come on the 'youtube' site only to swear, curse, and act vulgar, just to get their rocks off!! Yes Andyax is cheerfully entertaining, and a well needed change. Have a wonderful day and GOD Bless you!!! SuperSniperSal
Everything that you do is so great in quality and so beautiful Anders, your tutorials are always the best and it's always very enjoyable to watch. 10/10
I've got the Nikon mount and couldn't be happier. It's sharper than ANY other lens on the market in the 14-16mm range. However, it does distort more than other wide angles but this is easily fixed by the click of a button. I'd take sharpness over distortion anyday. It's a steal, buy one!
Amazing video, I don't use Film-making at all I'm my daily life, not even in college, but learning about from your videos is a god send. I can't wait to try this out for myself one day.
You are an exellent instructor man thank you, easy to understand and always straight to the point, simple and clear examples, thank you again you make me dare and do what I always wanted to do all these years.
Love Bror Svensson: You have turned off the reply button, so I can't reply, but I'll write here instead. Yes I've heard about the new speedbooster. It's really exciting! :) but it's so typical that they told about the new version, just after I got mine :P
I understand that a speedbooster allows you to have a faster shutter speed, but isn't that a secondary effect from the device altering the aperture size? Shouldn't it be called "aperturebooster" or something similar? I might be completely wrong though, I'm just learning this stuff.
+Andyax this really helped me make a decision on my next lens, I have a black magic cinema cam and the crop sensor can be somewhat hindering in the wide angle arena but this is a great solution for the price and quality
Nice vid! Regarding the focus ring - there's a T3.1 / cine version of this lens with same optics but a geared focus and aperture ring, that might suit a videographer better. As for stills, the long focus throw is not a downside because it helps to focus accurately and when shooting e.g. landscapes you've got enough time to focus
Great review! I just got my GH4, and since the crop is 0.4 times more than in my gh2 my old 14-42mm lens isn't that wide anymore, so i might consider investing in a speedbooster and the lens youre showing there!
Thank you for the review. I am thinking of having this lens being sold as second hand. Glad you showed how it performs from a Canon cropped sensor. I will be using this on my 50D.
hello .. I dot know abt lens but the set ups..location and house...everything else is looking so good..i really loved the environment you are shooting this vdo...amazing....man !
Hey bro.. The video looks stunning. Thanks for sharing the information. I wanted to know which picture profile did you use and where can I download it.
Really great video, but remember when recording 4k on the GH4, it crops the image 2.3 times, becaurse it doesn't take the entire sensors view and down-scaling, it just takes a 4k image straight out of the 16mp sensor. If you understand. Its a 1:1 pixel ratio
Andyax, Thanks for your video. I'v been wondering about this lens for some time now and as you mentioned, some come out great, some are not. Regardless of this issue, you helped me make a decision and get it. Thanks.
Since I just started out with budget with a Panasonic G6 camera without a speedbooster, my solution to wide angle is the Rokinon 12mm f2.0 which gives me 24mm(35mm equilvalent) of field.
Hej.
Hi Andy, really thanks for your review of this lens. i have some question, 1. how did u attach the filter holder to the lens? 2. Will the speedbooster work on ff camera? thanks for answering!! keep on good job!
Andyax you are the man! New favorite youtube channel by far; was wondering your honest opinion I have a T3i and 50mm 1.8 will possibly upgrade camera in the future. I bought a Glidecam and am thinking that the 14mm would be great. But I cannot make up my mind if its the right choice or if I should get something like a 18-35mm or 10-22mm other than the 14mm that gives me range. Just wanted to have your opinion as I feel many people have when starting out buying lenses. Thanks for your time and expertise.
Yaaaay, I'm so glad i saw your video on my subscription feed +Andyax Oh and also i just wanted to say thanks for the advise on the panasonic GH4, i'm definitely going to buy that soon. Anyways keep up the amazing work you do, can't wait for another amazing video :D
Yasin Balooshi And I'm glad I saw your comment! Thank you so much. One of the next videos will be a short film. It's a while since the last one :) Good luck with all your film projects!
Love this review, very informative. Do you recommend this lens for real estate photography taking photos of interior rooms for magazines? Just wondering how wide I would need to go without the fish eye effect to get good quality pictures.
This is the best review ive watched of this lens, finally my questions are answered! I'm thinking to buy this for landscape/city photography since i'm going to london and nyc this year. Would you recommend this also for photography?
Hi Andy, great video as usual! I'm wondering, what's the the difference between the Rokinon 14mm for M3/4 and Canon EF? The speedbooster makes the EF version faster, but I don't have speedbooster so I have to factor the price of it as well. Also, have you tried Tokina 11-16mm on the speedbooster compare to the Rokinon 14mm? Thanks!
Hi Andyax, Great video, I like the visual effects you used. Do you think that it is possible that you can share the post production techniques to make a video like this?
there was a declicked version of this available, no? Why didn't you buy that one, given that you will be using it for video? Great vid though... thanks.
Hi Andy.. As usual your videos are awesome and informative. Thanks for making these videos. I have a question and i'd be glad if you can answer this. Is there a way to use ND filter on this lens so as to be able to shoot on f2.8 and maintain field of depth in bright light? Also, how do you maintain the field of depth in videos in this lens given you are shooting on 1/50th shutter speed at 24fps or 1/60 for 30fps.. And so on.?
Thanks Andy - great info. Do you use the Speedbooster only to get the extra wide shots? I'm thinking of getting this lens for internal shots. I'm just wonder if I really do need the Speed Booster too or will this lens fit the gh4 without the booster? Cheers - Mike
I love watching your videos, they are always so helpful. But I have a question, I am looking to upgrade and get a GH4, but the available lens is pretty overwhelming. I film mostly travel, adventure videos handheld, but I also purchased the Yelangu s60t steadicam. Is there one all round and affordable lens you could recommend?
Hi @Andyax one question: Are you using the CANON version of the metabones speedbooster? I'm a little bit confused if a manual lens can be used on the canon speedbooster version? Or do you use the Nikon version of the SB and your Sigma 18-35 1.8 is also a nikon lens? Thank you!
I have the exact same slider, I use it a lot. But to keep it fluent in movement I spray it every use beforehand with WD40 and rub Vaseline on the rail itself.
That's great Andy. It's definitely a good lens for the price. Even though it's not as good as the canon but it is more or less 1/4 of the price. What I usually go for is that if it does 80% of the job for 20% of the price, then that's a good deal. :)
Incredible explanation my friend !! Congratulations !... So, I`m trying to decide with this one and the brother Rokinon 16mm t2.2 (for Canon EF mount). Besides the de-clicked aperture on the 16mm.. Is the quality on the sharpness image similar? I will thank for any help from you !! Regards !!
Hey Andy, thanks for this video. I understand that Samyang also make these lenses with the MFT mount. However, if I want to use a metabooster do I then need to buy the Canon EF mount version of the lens? Or is there another metabones speedbooster for MFT to MFT? Thanks!
I really like your review its great all the way ! but i wonder if you can make a review for tokina 16-28 its has auto focus because i am confused between them right now :D
Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 would have been awesome since it has capacity to take ND filters when filming outdoors plus its razor sharp and would have been perfect addition to your kit
i like your tutorials...you made me buy gh4 with the speedboster tho i couldnt afford the sigma lens.... one year later am going for this lens... thanks...what is the exact rokinon that will go with the speedbooster?
Hi Andy ! I have a question about Wide Angle Lens and the DEC adapter. How can be the 10-22mm (EF modified) wide with. What can be the equivalent in therm of mm ? I'm waiting for the DEC Pro but i must buy an adapter shortly... Thx in advance and thanks for your videos !

3 years old and still an amazing review!
man. The shots with the sigma are just gorgeous.
I really love my Samyang 35mm lens. Definitely will be looking at this lens as well. The video quality of the barn is magnificent.
You are an exellent instructor man thank you, easy to understand and always straight to the point, simple and clear examples, thank you again you make me dare and do what I always wanted to do all these years.

Andyax wow looks incredible man
+Andyax haha don't sweat it, thats just how it goes in this industry.

Best part of your video is the enthusiasm and your smile :) very positive !

Brilliant review! Now all I need is a full frame camera body or the speed booster..
Why videos are so often. I simply love them!
hello .. I dot know abt lens but the set ups..location and house...everything else is looking so good..i really loved the environment you are shooting this vdo...amazing....man !
hi Andyax... I just want to say a big thank you to you. Your videos have been very helpful
OMG can't imagine 14mm is that wide! great video! keep up your good work!
Hey bro.. The video looks stunning. Thanks for sharing the information. I wanted to know which picture profile did you use and where can I download it.

Thanks for the video man. This helped me make my decision on which lens to buy.
14mm was Stanley Kubricks favourite lens as said by Steven Spielberg!
14mm on a super 35 sensor is more like 20mm because of the crop factor. Sill an interesting fact though.
Im glad I found your channel! So full with useful tips and its easy to understand! thanks! :)
Nice review. Really liked the stabilization tip. Keep it up!
Andyax, Thanks for your video. I'v been wondering about this lens for some time now and as you mentioned, some come out great, some are not. Regardless of this issue, you helped me make a decision and get it. Thanks.
This is the BEST review about the samyang 14mm lens.
Thanks a lot.
Really cool setup dude!
The Norwegian stereotype of cabins just gets confirmed and confirmed... over and over! xD
I just bought this lens today! Thank you for the in depth review.
Thanks for your video Andyax :-) your wide shots look great too!
You are one of my favourite youtubers.. keep it Up bro!
Since I just started out with budget with a Panasonic G6 camera without a speedbooster, my solution to wide angle is the Rokinon 12mm f2.0 which gives me 24mm(35mm equilvalent) of field.
I went with Sigma 10-20mm. It's about the same price as the Samyang here in Canada and it does a job good.
Great review packed with a lot of good information on this lens. Thanks - and I love your work!
I'm not into videos but i must say your videos was helpful and i enjoyed your shots.. Keep it up.
This was a very good video. Informative, and well produced. Thank You
Herlig video Anders! Super kvalitet på videoene dine, og veldig hjelpsom video! :)
I found a lens correction profile to add to LightRoom and it takes care of the distortion issues quite well
Great video, love your directions and angles

Worth mentioning that you can also get this lens in the Cinema line, with declicked aperture ring and follow focus gears on the lens itself :)
BraxFilm Thanks, I added it to the description :)
You won yourself a subscriber, sir!
Just stumbled upon this tonight, great informative video! Just curious, what’s your camera setup now, 6 years later?

Great work, very useful review for someone like me that does kind of the same work but in México. Thumbs up!
Nice Video and very informative... Thank you for this
there was a declicked version of this available, no? Why didn't you buy that one, given that you will be using it for video? Great vid though... thanks.
Great video! Did you use the Optics Compensation in all images for the promotional video? Thank you.

Love the video! Helped me out a lot! Lots of love from Dubai! :)
You have the best videos on the net. You have my support! Keep it up! How can i get in contact with you?
Why didn't you set up for the 10 mm? Do you think it has too much distortion?
I have the exact same slider, I use it a lot. But to keep it fluent in movement I spray it every use beforehand with WD40 and rub Vaseline on the rail itself.

Herregud, blir så sjukt inspirert av klippende dine. Dat bildekvalitet...
SturL Godt å høre :) Lykke til med alle dine prosjekter.
Hi Andy, awesome video thank you. Which light did you use to light your face?
this was so beautiful and informative, thank you!
Love your video! Do you suggest getting this lens for a Canon T6i? Thank you!
Cool channel. That what I long sought.
All simple and clear.
For authors this channel Respect!
Is this still music of your friend in this video?
Amazing (as amazing as your all productions) Perfect example :)
Bunch Productions Hi, jepp the composer is my friend Thomas Leypoldt. Check out his channel :)
Thank you for answer.
Man, what a quality review
beautiful review man! kudos!
Lovely video! So what adaptor did you use so this lens could fit on your GH4?
Great video! Why did you buy this over the cine lens version?
Andy have you seen the new XL speedbooster which magnifices by 0.64 insted 0.71, gives more wide angle, shallow dof and light.
Hey Andy, thanks for this video. I understand that Samyang also make these lenses with the MFT mount. However, if I want to use a metabooster do I then need to buy the Canon EF mount version of the lens? Or is there another metabones speedbooster for MFT to MFT? Thanks!
Excellent content, have you ever considered Olympus 7-14mm F2.8? (Has anyone done a comparison video between Olympus 7-14mm and the Samyang 14mm)

Thank you very much for a detailed and a very professional review!
Great video...learning a lot from your vids :) subscribed
Wicked review, also you got any rooms available?
