    Your nose over problem can also be solved by being more gentle with the power on starting roll out. Push the power up slower so there is not as much thrust trying to pull the nose, allow some speed to build so the elevator has enough air to give good authority and then power up for take off. These little planes only really need about 50% power for takeoff.

    since ages I did not pilot any RC plane (ca. 45 years to be fairly honest, had however some real flight experience as pilot in my 20's and as skydiver in my 40's) and on this beautiful afternoon, I finally unpacked my Eachine F4U ( I received back in December 2021, no joke) and went in the backyard with the cows and just flew this plane. After two failed starts, the Corsair was in the air, and how! Easy to master in Beginner and Intermediate mode (I prefer the latter, more flexibility and responsive), trimming ailerons and elevators easily, this small RC plane fly really well, even for a beginner. If someone wants to (re-)enter the RC world of aircraft, this mini-warbird will do the job and no need for large space, one can fly within 50 meters around.
    It is just, as you say, extremely immersive and relaxing. I enjoyed the afternoon.
    Last but not least, the batteries are supposed to last some 14 minutes, I have three and had only the first one after at least 25 minutes, still running, and short of two propellers lost in crashes, had to go back home and order ten more. Will paint the tips in yellow.
    Conclusion of the day: I ordered the Eachine Spitfire and many more props.
    Thanks a lot Brian for your channel and you very in depth reviews and wise advices, you made my day !

    I've had the P-51 for a couple weeks now and am enjoying it. It seems a little nose heavy to me..but that F4U seems especially nose heavy. I hand launch, and flare to drop in grass for landings. I've had no issues with the plane and I think it's worth every penny!
    I also have the QF 008 787 and that thing is major bang for the buck! I've learned how to trick the gyro at the top of a loop and get it to fly inverted too! As soon as the plane is vertical and starting to go inverted go full negative elevator and it will fly inverted for 5-10 seconds!
    Thanks for the great videos you two!

      It's fun for sure, but was disappointed with the prop clearance. Seems like a bit of an oversight by production....nothing that would be insurmountable to overcome, but most who buy these little planes just hand launch them anyway :)

    As a sometime r/c plane park flier the thing that sells me is it easily survives most any hard landing. Thats key because your UMX plane typically will not have too many smooth landings. The break-away prop thing is brilliant and its sturdy foam with all your control surfaces re-inforced. finally a UMX i can fly more than three times before the plane is toast.

      Hope you enjoy it! It's a good one, but a little disappointed with the prop striking issue. I could have fixed it with just a small trim to the prop....and would have paid only a VERY small top speed penalty.

    Great video. If I may, a tip: Coil a small gauge insulated wire around the screwdriver and touch the naked copper ends to opposite poles of a battery for a few seconds. The screw will cling to the tool. My grandfather taught me that. I've always used it. :)

    Ive been in RC for 20+ years, but still get a lot of enjoyment with my Corsair, and Spitfire, and bonus is, you can fly these anywhere, not just our rc flying club, plus they are extremely easy to fly, i do so on the middle position, and gyro off, but if its windy middle is fine, gyro off its a handful ! also, i remove all the undercarriage, and tail wheel, they fly soooo much better, and look wicked in the air

    • @BrianPhillipsRC

    Nice flight review, Eachine makes a great product, the little mustang is a WINNER, probably going to try this one, I put a small dot of super glue on the prop shaft of the mustang and solved the problem of the prop coming off in landings

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the prop isn't allowed to pop off, the prop will break on strike. On this F4U, I think the mains were just a touch too short :(... but still not a deal breaker ;)

  • @cap3
    @cap3 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have P51 and F4U. Good birds! These mini planes also perform a "corkscrew" - fly higher, turn on the expert mode, reduce the propeller speed, the elevator-aileron joystick to the extreme position for a dive with rotation. Before the ground, put the joystick in the middle position and turn on the gyro. Your bird will straighten itself out. Good luck

    Hi, One of the best videos I have seen on this plane, A typical problem on these micro planes is the wire on the landing gear is too short, when the plane is level for takeoff, The prop hits the ground, I have had to make my own wire gear from .047 piano wire to correct this problem. Or just remove it , And hand launch and belly land, Also, Love your kitchen, Looks like mine, except all my chargers are in a guest bathroom, And I have 79 planes ranging from 15'' to 8ft. wingspans, several RC 4x4 trucks, drift cars, boats, tanks, quads, heli's, If it is RC I have it, And my wife tolerates my hobby, LOL , I am 65 years old with 52 years in the hobby, And she says, What do I do with this collection if you die?, I told her,,, Here is the Ebay website, Good luck! LOL, Best of luck to you, Stay safe!

    I've been waiting for this model for so long. I already have the mini mustang. After watching your review, I'll buy it at some point just for display purposes along side the little Mustang in my rc warbird museum...lol. They're so cool but they definitely don't help me as a beginner pilot. I have been working so hard to get better at flying in "expert" mode but the stick sensitivity, combined with the speed needed to stay in the air, on these little planes makes the experience much less enjoyable for me at this point in my rc pilot "career". Thanks for the entertaining and educational content, y'all!

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, flying on "expert" is a fools errand!!! They're CRAZY unwieldy. I wouldn't recommend it. This is one of the reasons I recommend the Sport Cub S UMX for a beginner...as it's flyable without SAFE, as you still have AS3X. I think the auto leveling on this and the P-51 are phenomenal, given their price point, and the one touch aerobatic function is very fun!

    I preordered my F4U and have had it for a week or so. Mine has a NON-functioning rudder which I told Banggood about and they offered me an $8 discount on my next order. I told them no, I want a fully functioning plane, that I paid for. They offered to send me a another new plane for $25 which I accepted. Looks like I'll have two F4U's to crash now. The UMX Turbo Timber, that you suggested, just arrived this morning, so I'll be taking that one out too as soon as the wind dies. Good to know about the taking off problem on the F4U and it looks like it flies just about as good as the Mini P-51 Mustang, which I really enjoy flying. Camera crew is still the best. q. The Prop break away hub(the part that connect to the motor/gear) is not tread on, but rather press on/off which you should be able to pop off with a small plier! and yes, I do believe that is a weak point(pop off prop is great, but the plastic is too easy to break so you might need to have a bunch handy instead of one extra(just saying), 2. the batteries connector can only be connect one way, so the color code is really not need or helpful! need little plane for super low price. 3. The wheel is much too small and prop much too close to the ground to have a reliable take off, hand launch is probably the only way to go.

    Hi Brian, you just made me order the small Corsair. I've dreamed for very long to fly an RC and when I took the decision, Europe decided to move on a specific law for unmanned flying objects (RC planes and drones) limiting the flying weight to 250g. What's above must be visibly imatriculated as a normal airplane, or something weird like that. Flight height will be also limited to some 120m above your head. I planned for the 1'200mm Sea Fury and must now switch to light flights ;-) There is a levelling instruction for the gyros, did you do that before the first flight. By the way, nice videos on your channel and cool that your wife is part of the game and enjoy as you do. Take care stay healthy and go on making us dream.

    Love these Warbirds. The reason it won't take off from the ground is because the landing gear wheels don't free spin, which sticks the plane in place on the ground and causes the nose to drop forward when applying throttle. They're more like crude foam washers rather than wheels, and their lack of free spin is why they're useless other than keeping your prop up on landings and also because without them, you're belly landing right on the servo throw. Eachine has corrected the problem on other models with upgraded landing gear with much better free spinning wheels that snap in. But the red tail Mustang, the Trojan and the Corsair are the three Eachine models that still come with these crappy landing gear wheels.

      I was curious as well. In the unboxing of the Jumper he covers Ultra Micro Maniacs and that person has a review for the P51 that showed up in the list of suggested videos. I watched it for hopes of seeing anything mention the Jumper and while it isn't explicitly shown, one shot shows the plane being controlled by a Jumper and there's a file in the info, as well as some text talking about DeviationTx/OpenTx, altering the mid and expert modes and mentioning the file. Seeing as how I'm using one tx for the P51 and Corsair that originally came with the Raptor I imagine it can be used with all three planes. I'll give it a try soon and see how it shapes up. The main reason I'm interested in trying is because the trims don't save when you pop out batteries in the plane or the tx gets turned off. Will try to come back with news of how it goes. Still gotta figure out the Jumper for myself.

      If it's broke at the pinch hinge, just use some tape...press it into the seam, make sure it's free, and NOT BOUND UP, then run a bit on the other side, so it can still move free.
      If it's broke length-wise, just use some CA (foam safe if you want to be totally sure, but this is EPO, so you can PROBABLY use regular CA) - I'd use MEDIUM (BSI White Cap - "Low Odar" AKA "Foam SAFE"), then I'd put a small 1/3 length of toothpick as a SPAR to pin it together in the middle. Gotta maybe split it length wise, with a knife, too so you can not be to thick causing a bulge. Nobody wants to be surprised by a bulge...
      "Kicker" will help it set quickly, and I'd suggest it too, if you don't have it already.

      Charge the battery and fly the plane, then just store it "dead" or just check the voltage is at or about 3.8VDC and you'll be golden!

    I Hawe a 40 30 mah 1S baterry for whoops and when i charged them using paralel board and extension cord if i charge 4 baterry at onece on 1 port i chose 4S and charged them on 1,6 Amps and newer have the problem.Nice review i have huge Homemade airplane from Balsa and i never fly a RC Aircraft so i am searching something smaler to practice before i go Fly my huge Airplane becose it is fully manual no F.C. and i am afraid to crashe it at first flight.So i am searching something smaler but with all control surface like my big model...

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dude - 1.6 amps is WAY FAST and for 4 different sized batteries too boot!
      if you have a 40mAh 1S, that means 40mAh/1000mAh = 0.04 AMP HOURS!!! You're charging them WAY too fast!!! You're gonna have a problems at some point, and I hope you get this message in time to not burn anything down (or maybe you told me something wrong???)...
      Secondly in a parallel charging scenario, you should really only charge the same cell count together, and same mAh together, and same C rating and usage (how warn out it is)...or you'll find the LOWEST Cell and OVER CHARGE IT. It WILL eventually catch fire.
      Not trying to bust your balls, I'm all about having fun too, but just gotta get it done safe. I would feel TERRIBLE if I heard about you burning your own house down....seriously.

    You mentioned how the Eachine and Volantex mini warbirds are the same with different branding. What about the XK / WL Toys mini warbirds...are they the same as the Eachine and Volantex with different branding? Looks to me like those are different parts, different electronics, etc. even though at a glance they first appear the same. ???

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty much, except some use different transmitters. The Rx'es change between the older and newer of the same brands in my experience. Some of the planes and heli's are in fact different, but some are just branding/marketing differences. Some have more options, some are offered with different geographic distribution rights.

    Brian, I got the Apprentice STS Trainer. Haven't flown it yet, 1st plane. I'm nervous about landing and probably over thinking but I don't wanna Duke it my first time out. How hard is it to land the Trainer? and what are some tips besides getting a 180 dollar simulator lol. I've watched some videos on first flights with the trainer and honestly it doesn't look like it's their first time because they fly it/land it with such ease. I did order the landing sensor for Europe because I couldn't find it anywhere in the country and Spektrum says they won't be available until August. Should I wait for the sensor, is it that necessary or should I just go for it and hope for the best? Lol.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no idea what you're talking about with the "sensor" for landing???
      As for flying and landing....here's a tip. If you're unsure of yourself, got a field with very tall grass, then when you're ready to land, if you're still unsure of yourself, just cut the throttle to 0% and let SAFE glide you gently into the tall grass. The grass generally won't hurt the plane. HOWEVER, if you're feeling up to it, which you WILL..just land it on the parking lot or the short, well manicured grass.
      Make sure you know where your switches are, and be prepared to pull the switches into SAFE mode. If you're not sure, make sure you GET sure before you're in the air, as you will probably NOT be able to look at your Radio while you're flying...which is a vary scary feeling as a newbe.

    6 axis is a misnomer. Its actually 6 degrees of freedom or movement.
    Rotation around and linear movement along the 3 axes of our 3D world.
    2 types of motion * 3 axes = 6 DoF
