He's physically a beast. His demeanor is such that he is willing to take those bumps and learn from them. He's not afraid to admit he needs help, and he's the kind of guy others wanna be around...With that said, and as an armchair analyst, he still has a lot to learn..He's so stiff off the line, and seems to be more worried about being the "quickest" off the line. He doesn't allow himself any fluidity in molding into his roll. He acts like every player is going to come at him at full bore. As a lineman you have an "area" that you patrol and you need to be physically and mentally able to see what's coming and how to react to it..Jordon just get's up and off that line and takes one gigantic step. A step that a most defensive lineman will exploit by going inside on him. He's gotta tone that first down and learn to relax a little. Don't overexpose the inside while also having good rotation in his hips to cover a guy who goes wide. He's trying to get up on a defensive lineman coming at him instead of letting them come to him...But after all that, he just doesn't seem to know what to do after the initial bump and scoot. He needs to learn to adapt on the fly and catch up to blocks as the play progresses. He just kinda stands around when he thinks his job is done. Always gotta keep moving...All in all. I love this guy, and hope the eagles stick with him.
Rootz Mana 3 months vs ppl who spend their whole lives getting there i call it a win. They work with him and there gonna see big improvement in a few years
Considering he’s never played American football. He’s playing at the elite level and doing pretty good! Remembering my first time playing little league, the game went by so fast and it seemed as if everyone was running around me and I was standing still.
Damn he got alot of reps..pretty good debut for someone with 3 months of football experience, lost his feet a few times n his step back is massive not sure if that's bad or not...cheers for the vid too fam...keep'em coming
Stylz Ali TV it seems like it doesn't matter if he has bad footing. Usually if you take a bad step your done but he is so strong and big it doesn't even matter with him
No, they have the right plan. His attributes are special for an olineman, he didn't lose often or badly in this video playing FOOTBALL for the first time in his life.
I know right? I was thinking the same thing. I had to replay that part because I couldn't believe what I saw. What kind of a throw was that? Looks like he was the one learning a new sport for the past 3 months.
First you say he's 6'8 now he's 6'7 what is he?? he stood next to a 6'9 guy in his team and he was taller?? How does this thing work, when are you going to be accurate
DieFlabbergast - Wrong. JORdAN measured at 80.9 inches that’s 6’8 and 3/4, which is basically 6’9. They had his height right at the draft don’t know why they want to make him seem shorter now for some reason.
Kishaun SALAVE’A yeah I know, they keep saying this than that, I'm getting so pissed off about it, cause people don't talk facts, they just speak out of their ass
I think its very smart of them to do OT. But the eagles are so loaded in the OL that he might be better at linebacker because of his quickness. But linebacker is very hard and i think OT is a better start
No this route is the best route. At worst he becomes a decent blocking tight end. Kind of cool to see that they envision him being a left tackle though.
Left tackle is highest paid position besides quarterback. Coach thinks him best at that position. That is high praise that he put him there. It's the hardest O-line position and highest paid because of a beast who used to rush from that side by the name of LT. He protects the QB's blind side. That's why he'll get the big bucks. The highest paid left tackle gets paid 16 mil a year at the moment, and if it pans out that Mailata becomes a pro-bowler like some former NFL linemen think, he'll rake in that kind of payday.
Mailata is 21 years old Eagles have plenty of time to teach him how to block protect the QB..... Go Birds just another awesome decision by Howie Roseman
once he starts slugging an blocking getting into it and not thinking he be joe jacoby and forrest greg .. have him watch them block in games .. i say you design plays for em to pull and smash . looks like so tough good he don't even have to try . scary . trick is learning simple one thing at a time . break it down . just be aggressive like his rugby he wont have to learn just hit people ./ he could probably block more than one . haha . good bloke .
You know what? Not bad at all given no experience whatsoever. He needs to stay with his blocks a bit longer, but hey, the guy is huge and he's hard to get around. I would have liked to see him block on more running plays to see if he could truck some d-linemen.
Given his play, I am quite surprised he made the roster. Then again, if the Eagles had released him, he would’ve been picked up on waivers by another team. He would’ve never made it to our practice squad. Can’t lose this potential after using a draft pick on him.
surprised? Do you not hear former linemen raving about this guy? I mean I don't know if you know a lot about lineman play but I'll trust former NFL linemens' opinion on it.
I wonder what it would be like to play this game without the helmet and the body protection gear...I suppose it will take to another level, players can run much faster, the tackling..imagine the hard hits...it would be fun to watch.
Stuff left tackle. This bloke should play defensive end or outside linebacker. The size of this bloke can sack the quarterback in most plays. I could see this bloke too play tight end. He's bigger than Gronkowski.
???? Left tackle is a very sought after position. All the fundementals he learns there if he doesnt make it can be translated to a blocking tight end or a monster fullback. This is the right path for him.
@@wpa3715 I hope so young blood. As an Aussie we wanna see this bloke succeed. Hope he makes the 53 man squad. It would be ashamed if he doesn't make considering his gifted size.
@@iiLitezlike I said I'll be pissed if he didn't make it. But I'm glad the bloke made it. He'll make all the Aussies proud especially the Polynesian community.
Tackle left or right is the only chance he has to make it. His 40 is 5+ and his bench is soft as well, he stands no chance at TE or DE. Now this particular tape here is horrible but he’s only 21 years old and if he gets 2-3 years to be tutored in technique he could carve himself out a career as a swing tackle or depth guy. More importantly he can help pave the way for more future Aussies in the NFL and bridge the gap all fans want to see crossed!!
Nfl should invest mote in international academy to put good atlethic kids from europe let say from age 10 to 21 to these academys with ex nfl players coahes and from high school and collages coahes. I have never had more fun watching tape, then watching this guy!
He`s gonna make it!!
Getting better Mailata.. Hope to see him make the roster
he did more than make the roster, arguably the best left tackle in the league
His kick step is omg great..what amazing progress he has made..
The man!!! Great game uce!!

This was a great edit thanks so much bro!! Loved the lightning on his big hit!!
Rootz Mana so true brother!
for a guy who never played nfl did pretty damn good
Not a bad NFL debut with 3 months of #football experience for Jordan Mailata.
Rootz Mana 3 months vs ppl who spend their whole lives getting there i call it a win. They work with him and there gonna see big improvement in a few years
His positive attitude and great coach ability so evident through all the interviews. In time he's going to be scary good.
Hes only gonna get better. His first step is quick as hell. His first punch is strong. I'm rooting for him to make it. Fa'a Samoa!
Who is here after his first nfl start? Still see so much potential and he play phenomenal last night.
he started??!!!!! well got dam
@@uglynose2k yeah he did again as well against the Steelers. Gave up his first sack in the 4th against Dupree. But has played really well
He can be an occasional lead blocker in those heavy run formations, or a goal line eligible receiver like what the pats did with one of their tackles.
Dude is the real deal. Future all-pro. Call me crazy but this cat has flat out got it.
His first kick slide he gets like 4yds of depth. Crazy.
I heard he made the cut. Fkn awesome. Hope he has a mean year.
more than made the cut, some former NFL linemen think he will be a pro-bowler. That is, and all-star football player.
Just give him playing time and he'll be a beast.
Rooting for u from 684 big Uso
They should call him the wrecking ball Jordan
I went to school with him when i was in year 7 when we had games at our school everyone would just yell “GIVE THE BALL TO JORDAN”

I would love to see him in one of those o-linemen passes.. like Pats did to the ravens a few years back.. and the colts
1:48 HOLY FUCKING SHIT THAT SPEED. He reacts and jumps off the ball instantly and squares that dude up fast!

Footwork/steps are crucial for OLines i believe but heʻs doing better than i thouht he would do in his first NFL game.
Hope he gets similar game time vs the pats
His back step is excellent and its only gonna get better
3rd and short like the Fridge!
He'll make the roster.
He's getting there...2019-20 season...WATCH OUT!
- JORdAN Mailata is measured at 80.9 inches. That’s 6’8 and 3/4 ths, which is basically 6’9. Not 6’7.
Bro they should put him Tight End
he seems unusually fast for an OLine i agree
No, they have the right plan. His attributes are special for an olineman, he didn't lose often or badly in this video playing FOOTBALL for the first time in his life.
Nah give him a chance to become a decent tackle and if that doesnt work then play him at tight end. He has the athleticism.
Swissy T o line is the fastest to learn and after he learns the line he can learn routes and be a TE
Swissy T full back
Jordan looks like he’s catching on quick he will make the team.... EAGLES !!!!
Yes indeed..he has made light year strides and in such a short amount of time
has anyone else ever played their first game of competitive football in the nfl? he looked pretty ok which is saying alot.
michael hall Jared Hayne

IMPACT blocking Jordan. You should be able to ROCK those ends at the line. And I want to see even better use of those hands use your quickness.
