    You ROCK Kevin ! Love watching all of your older videos since TH-cam is pushing them like crazy :)

      What the bloody hell. You need a freakin watches all my videos award. 👍

    I never know why I watch videos like this. This equipment is so far out of my reach for money reasons and it always gets me drooling.

      It's a disease. We all have it. :)

    I just received a new longer Kanova slider the other day. The quality standards are great as ever. I would love to replace one of my small jibs with the Sun, the quality looks fantastic.

      @BasicFilmmaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really is a beefy pile of awesome. I have jibs and cranes costing ten times as much that don't have this quality.

    I have a heavy-duty tripod with a 75MM claw ball head. Will this jib work on that?

  • @StyleByZaza
    @StyleByZaza 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Why am I watching this video? Oh yeah... because I could use new equipment and I now know what a sun jib is! Bravo! Another great video! 👏🏼

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL! Thanks Zaza. New gear - the film and video creators mind virus. :)

      Haha, this is the reason I watched it: I had no idea what a sun jib was! Very interesting video, +Basic Filmmaker. Thanks for producing it! -Michael Grand
      EDIT: Oh right. I keep forgetting they removed Google Plus integration.

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Michael. The comment showed up - what was the prob with google plus?

    • @itsgaming1603
      @itsgaming1603 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** It seems to be more difficult to make mentions, like this one. Typing a "+" in the comments section of a TH-cam video does not seem to link to the page anymore. Oddly, it seems to work fine from the Google Plus notifications section... I just miss when these two systems were a bit better linked.

    Wow! Beautiful and smooth shots, you are so easy to understand, I'm just leaning and buying gear to catch family moments, thank you for the video! 😜

    Do you think it might be a good idea to put some foam on the underside of the jib arm to lessen any damage where it touches the pivot should you lower all the way to the extreme high and low reaches? I see under the word 'professional' the arm touching so believe it could mark the jib arm and if protected it will stop any shock from a sudden hard connect if the weights aren't balanced.

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow! How interesting that this comment JUST NOW shows up for me after THREE years. Sorry I missed it. Yes, foam could be an option.

    Looks like a great piece of equipment. Film cat seems to take direction well ;)

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Film cat takes great direction, that's why he's "Film Cat" and not "Cat who sucked on camera and couldn't take direction Cat." :)

    I like the oliviatech jib u made which brought me here. This is cool but looks less affordable.

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very cool, and it leans more towards pro gear quality, with pro gear prices.

    Do you think it is worth the upgrade price vs the one you made a couple of years ago?

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a whole different deal. If you want a mini-jib, and you use it and plan on having it for years to come, yes. But I surely wouldn't get this unless I was going to use it.

    I can’t find any information on how much weight of a camera I can put on there. Would it be suitable for a 15kg Arri Alexa?

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Easily. You’ll just need to have proper amount of weights on the back.

    If you were purchasing, would you go for the S900 or do you think the S700 is more than enough? TIA!

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lee. If I were going to buy a job, I would go with the longest one. p.s. If you buy these through Konova (bit.ly/KonovaSunJib) they are having a 50% off sale right now. :)

    love that it's build as a solid piece. which tripod did you use with it? (the beefy one)

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I intentionally used a cheaper under $100 Davis and Sanford tripos to see how far I could push it. All the shots were using that tripod, I just weighted it down in the later shot after the first shaky one.

    I know this isn't related, but how do you expose for S-Log 2 on camera? Do you have a video on that?

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not, but I would head over to Dave Dugdale's channel, as he talks a lot about SLOG.

    • @genjii931

      He should make a feature starring Film Cat!

    • @BasicFilmmaker

      I am seriously considering it - some totally random filled 200th episode. :)

    • @BasicFilmmaker

      Absolutely. Hmmm...how to get Film Cat as part of the episode. Cool challenge. I'm doing it. :)

    konova has good products but their customer service sucks

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Surprising - I have always had nothing but pleasurable experiences from them, one of the major reasons I like their products. Was it Konova or a third party seller? If it was Konova, please send me an email as to exactly what happened and when, and I can forward to my contacts there.

    • @gabaktech
      @gabaktech 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** i talked to Peter Feng and Frank Shaw, and they are clueless about what they are selling, I bought motor and controller for my slider and they did nt know how to make it work back and forth automatically, after weeks of begging so they can help me, they someone else contact me 30 or 40 days later with the solution. Sometimes they don't reply emails so when they did that i had to contact them via eBay in one of their products so I can get an answer from someone. If you want you can go to my other channel GABAKUSA and see the video I made recently about the slider

    • @BasicFilmmaker
      @BasicFilmmaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK. Although I realize there may be a language barrier, this does not sound like Konova. I'll email them and let them know they need to get to together.

      why do you say that? they speak english and me too. Worst of all, I bought everything at B&H and they did nt know either. They good things is I made a video in spanish and english how to solve that, in case other one go through the same pain, at least everyone now they can find that video very easily. I am the only one who made a video about that in both languages ;-)
