I know this video is mostly about the plane, but a small rant with regards to the light tank: I feel like when I'm in a light, my reason for existence is to scout the hell out of the enemy team, in order for the heavies and planes to have markers to kill. It drives me absolutely bonkers when I'm in a heavy or a plane and my whole team is running around in lights, and not one of them is making any effort to scout a damned thing. Shoot at that tank all you want and maybe you'll get some kills, but scout it first so the rest of us can support! More than likely wherever that guy is, there's another one in his general area. It makes the team so much more effective than having to wander around the battlefield hoping to run into something before it runs into you.
Same. I am a light tank main. I scout even if I am going to engage the enemy I scouted in the off-chance that someone kills me. I get the intelligence assist and the spawn point reduction to bring out CAS. I've had 20+ scouts in matches quite a few times yet got very few assists because my team is not pushing to the front lines.
Gaijin really needs to sort out the teamwork problem in war thunder, like give players incentive to actually work together by increasing the rewards you get for doing stuff like scouting, helping teammates repair or put out fires, and maybe towing teammates out of danger (I’ve done that a few times when I still played the game). And have an updated tutorial that teaches players how to effectively work with your team, and maybe something like a better voice chat system to quickly communicate with teammates rather then taking a few seconds to type a message in chat. But knowing Gaijin, they’ll probably never implement something like this because they’re either incompetent or think it won’t give them money.
@@junkers3824 I agree. You do get benefits from teamwork but most people don't want to play WT as a team game. It's a bunch of lone wolves. Yeah, I will occasionally have one of those "carry the team" try-hard matches, where I am doing everything I can to win the match (usually in spite of my team's insistence on losing) and those can be really fun *(and sweaty), but I would rather get some help. TBH, when I start a match, I check the scoreboard to see if there are any "stacked" squads (2-4 people playing together, not randoms), since I know they have the ability to talk to each other in voice chat and mark positions with squad markers. Lone wolfing is sometimes the way to go. If you solo-cap an objective, you get all of the SL, RP, and spawn points...if you have team-mates on the cap, your earnings are reduced. This is why you see people taking Pumas, M-22's, and BT (and R3 T20 FA_HS rats) tanks into higher tier matches...cap rush to get a solo cap, maybe get a kill or an assist afterwards, and then hop into CAS.
I used to uptier my M5 Stuart to 4.0 such a fun little scout. I always end up play my Chaffe like a medium. The Stuart is my favorite light tank Because it actually feels like a light tank.
Hey Odd I'm not sure if you're aware but there is a setting that sets your aircraft to automatically jettison the rocket pods once they're empty. This will help you survive a bit better in your attack aircraft if they get jumped
Bombs with FFARs was the first thing I thought of when I saw the new loadout releases. It's not quite as insane as the A-1H with even better bombs combined with Zunis, but it's definitely an improvement.
They are really the balancers for the Americans at this BR. Leaving it alone it'll just eat up the tanks one by one. And leave it to a skillful pilot who knows how to rocket snipe, even SPAAs are no match.
Odd sending a good 20 rockets off the rails, and then casually saying “hold that” and showing us a pinpoint bomb drop as an afterthought had me far too excited. Once again, a masterclass of armour and CAS 23:31
I'd rather take the magnetic mines, as they have very large amounts of explosives for how light they are (they have 500 kg worth of TNT and are lighter than the 1000 lb bombs), while the 2000 lb bombs + extra bombs or rockets gives you the flight performance of a garbage truck.
This BR is near perfection, without going past 6.3 you can have so much fun in exceptional usable vehicles and the fights can be long and personal. Very memorable BR
Hey Odd! I love your videos! They are much more cheerful (and/or painful really depends on the vehicle) than others imo. Idk if its just because of the way you talk during the videos or if its just a personal preference but they kept me entertained for pretty much 1-1.5 years now and I never missed a new upload since I joined but there is one small little thing that botheres me for quiet a while now and that's a distinct lack of love for the russian SU-100P or how I like to call it the ASU-100. Compared to the ASU-57 it isn't nearly as small but it has a somewhat comparable mobility with a maximum speed of 65 kp/h going forward and ~21 kp/h in reverse and it also has a very deadly high velocity 100mm D-50 gun that reloads like an 85mm gun and an even more deadly grenade: the BR-412D with almost 170mm of pen at 500m at a 30° angle that can reliably pen and one shot any vehicle at its BR (with some exceptions being the Tiger II H, Jadgtiger, T26E5, T32, M48, the Tortoise and some others). The shell flies at almost 900 m/s making it very easy to aim at long ranges and with almost 100g of TNT in the shell its a mere wonder if the target survives a successful center-mass penetration. The SU also follows the teachings of no armor = best armor and can therefore be quiet survivable if the enemy doesnt carry HE, HEAT or BESH but its biggest downsides are the frontalyl mounted engine and transmission so you have to expose your front in most situations and the lack of gun depression with only *negative 4° of gun elevation* **!Disclaimer! I didn't test every vehicle from 5.3-7.3 and I only tested the ufp at 500m so most tanks still have giant weak spots like the turret or the lfp !Disclaimer!** I enjoyed your video as always and I'd really love seeing the SU-100P on your channel in the near future as it is a very overlooked tank imo and it deserves some more attention. i think that allowing the planes to carry what they did historically and then balance them after the new performance is better than giving us loadouts we won't would make implementing planes easier as well i suppose as they only need the hardpoints and what to be able to carry
Bawz you should really enable automatic pod drop, for expended mentions, it would have save you tons of roll time in the 2nd game, bc you were hanging on to two hvars and had 8 empty MM pods
The ostwind 2 is probably my favorite anti air in this game, it is so powerful. All you need js one shot to kill a plane, it has two cannons, decently high velocity, and doesnt have to reload. So good
This thing and the french corsair are my arch nemesis in war thunder. There's a reason I have the tag anti air and am very accustomed to seeing the wing breaker in my results at the end of the match
I love that I'm not the only one with the graphical bug where the rockets actually come through the outside of their pods when they're pulling hard turns. The ZUNIs in my A-1H do the exact same thing and it drives me nuts every time. That P-51 got you killed, even with how god-tier .50 cals are he didn't have enough angle to get into the turret reliably, you did. He should have flown further out in front of him without shooting to make him turn his turret away from you. You had the cannons and rockets to do the job.
"as long as it doesn't unbalance the wings" fun fact, you can unbalance it, i tested it on my AU-1, just loaded up one wing with 500lb bombs and nothing on the other. it still let me fly, though it would constantly sideslip to one side and when i pulled up hard it tried to corkscrew me. but yeah, you can pretty much go hog wild on it and make the silliest loadouts you want
This is still a small snippet of what the skyraider can carry. Even though the A-1H can carry more, the AD-4 still carried the same ordinance. I'm still waiting for that. Skyraiders are rad.
This Br in my opinion is my favorite. 6.0-7.0 is peak war thunder after that it’s like grinding ur nails against a rock wall to get to the other side. And the bull dog is my favorite light tank with that round. I’ve been grinding to get the sky raider. Can’t wait to use this combo
The AM-1 with the custom loadout is even more deadly in naval, too bad there is no longer a 5.7 lineup for the US! Not to mention the A-1H with Zunis, napalm, and 2000lbs bombs on 6.3!
try the f105d with custom loadouts, you can carry 2 bullpups 2 3000 pounders and 6, 750 pounders. if the enemy doesnt have spaa you literally have enough ordinance to wipe their team, on a mach 2 capable jet
Honestly, it's a change long overdue. It'll make a lot of planes simply better by giving the user a chance to make it's loadout as comfortable for their playstyle as possible.
There are so many "cas" options that you are forced into playing to play with your ground br, so now being able to strip unneeded load and perfect a setup like OMFG what's the AD-1 mauler looking like now???
I wish there were custom loadouts for the A-4. It's a squadron vehicle, so you can get it for free but it sucks because it doesn't have a loadout with both bombs and missiles (and a few other problems) That one little fix would make it so much more viable
I just hope the P-38 gets its rightful (and historical) loadout of 2 independently dropping 2000lb bombs. Only the last P-38 can carry bombs, and they're 1000lbs.
There is a setting in the options that automatically drops empty rocket pods like those. I have no idea if there is a performance increase afterwards though.
came here. i have 6.0 ground a fair bit of progress before i reach a full 6.0 ish line-up, but my planes are only 4.0 ish. came to see what to grind out first. i was liking the p51s at 6.0 ish and the f8f and f7f, then decided i should maybe look at strike planes (woah shocker). saw this things secondaries and wanted to see if it was actually good. time to grind strike line
Seriously, only playing for fun is the only reason i havent quit after 7 years. When i dont feel like im having fun i just close the game and do something else instead of forcing myself to suffer.
I think there's definitely a place for this feature. I mean it isn't going anywhere anyways, anyhow. Gaijin should just go all out and put it all pretty much every aircraft in existence. Their is quite a few aircraft I can think think of that could do with it. Multi role aircraft would love it especially. So there's that I guess.

Possibly a pity they don't have the loadout of the AD-4B - a Mk-8 nuclear bomb, delivered by over-the-shoulder toss bombing. It was mostly just a political power-play by the US Navy, but they did build about 200 of the planes and 40 Mk 8 bombs (which had no safety systems and were set off by a black powder time fuse).
I don't really get mad for losing a match, maybe a bid annoyed when i just need 1 win for a daily or something. What does pisses me off, is when i'm nog satisfied with my own performance.
Day 13 of proposing the challenge I came up with to Odd: The challenge is called "Basket Bomb": Your goal is to accurately drop a bomb into any open top tanks' turret basket (e.g. M10 / M18 / the big german td's / the german AA's etc.)! You should check out the am-1's bomb load. You can have 3 2000lb bombs with lots of 250lb bombs or rockets.

AM-1 gets an even more absurd loadout and can use it's flaps and airbrake at the same time without any interference.
The AM-1 Mauler can now carry three 2000lb bombs, all single dropped. It's lovely

You can kill them easy, but they'll get ya.
I would also add, limit the amount of ammo you take into battle, its the difference between being a firework show and surviving minor penetrations

Now you can do a "Fan loadouts" series where you fly CAS with loadouts dictated by patreon or TH-cam commentors.
One thing i notice now when i watch this video is how you easely get like 3-4 kills while i struggle to get more than 2😂
Mad first game, would love to know how you honed your CAS skills, because I am lucky just to drop a bomb or two. You seem to be up there for ages.

Possibly a pity they don't have the loadout of the AD-4B - a Mk-8 nuclear bomb, delivered by over-the-shoulder toss bombing.
It was mostly just a political power-play by the US Navy, but they did build about 200 of the planes and 40 Mk 8 bombs (which had no safety systems and were set off by a black powder time fuse).
The AD-4 is literally my worst nightmare in this game

I don't really get mad for losing a match, maybe a bid annoyed when i just need 1 win for a daily or something. What does pisses me off, is when i'm nog satisfied with my own performance.

The challenge is called "Basket Bomb":
Your goal is to accurately drop a bomb into any open top tanks' turret basket (e.g. M10 / M18 / the big german td's / the german AA's etc.)! Extra points if you use a very low-tier aircraft like a biplane, for the funnies.
I think that would be extremely fun and it would make me so happy if you gave it a try

Q: why not carry sea mines? It's basically a weaker 2k lb bomb but is way lighter
Pt-76 + su-85m + tu-2 + yak-9b is the best loadout in the game basically
