dude THANK YOU so much for this. several videos just rattled off settings without any great explanation, even the obs discord snuffed me with a "use simple mode!" or whatever it is. i need the DETAILS ya know? thanks again!
Thanks for this video - very helpful. Is there a way to measure the actual amount of live stream data going out from OBS onto the network? A utility or a system measurement? (I am running on a Mac). Thanks. . .
I know on Windows you can open task manager and click the Network tab to see how much is going in and out in real time, so I'm sure Mac OS has something similar.
Have a question I'm confused about this I have 985 Mbps upload and download I'm trying to record 4K HDR with a capture card from the PlayStation so I'm confused on what to put in that great record
If I have an i9-12900k thats never been really used over 50% would it be better to use that for encoding than my gpu that runs around 90% most the time?
Unless you want to stream at a lower quality like 360p, or you have a top of the line gpu, it’s usually better to use software rendering rather then gpu rendering
The nightmare of my OBS streaming is the bitrate randomly dropping to zero. All the forums are suggesting this is not related to wifi. I am limited to streaming with a laptop when using OBS because I am mobile. I noticed on my last stream that the cpu usage went up to 98% and then came back down to around 50. This then affects the bitrate. I am trialing disabling my antivirus as this seems to use the most cpu. Do you have any other suggestions.
But that much high bitrate means long rendering time and long uploading time. And doesn't YT have it a like 30? Won't it hurt the quality if its that much compression?
hi i have a question if i have 10.6 upload speed and i set my bit rate to 6-8 mbps why is my stream still blurry ? i dont lag or buffer but its really blurry
Hello! I've been using a Ryzen 5 5600G for streaming on TH-cam. Whenever I check my VODs I notice that my streams are blurry. Since I don't have a dedicated GPU (the 5600g has a Vega 7), I use the x264 encoder. However, I've noticed that I have the option "AMD HW H.264 (AVC)" available. Should I use this? Or is it not suited for integrated graphics/Vega 7?
I got the wifi thing on my PC and the cable is in the PC and I got an 442.49 and I think is bad is it? also should I put it at 4k bits when I did the test i got discord on Also cool vid
See what changes when you choose one over the other, and whichever options give you choices between Performance and Quality should be the right one to try first.
This makes zero sense I have tried every bitrate from 2500 to 4000 with lowest quality to highest quality they all look the same no setting looked better. I have 10 upload with 250 download I don't understand nothing looks better or worse.
@aranhawaii I believe the bit rate, but I was using this and another video to get more info, and now it went from low quality to good with excellent connections 🤟
I wonder why they have Streaming bitrate and then Audio bitrate as separate. Video bitrate becomes this kinda hinky Total bitrate - Audio bitrate. In the Recording tab, it makes more sense.
How the hell do you have almost a 1000mbps in data speed I don’t have any provider who can even touch close to that wtf tops for me is like 100mbps for broadband suppliers how your getting that is speed is so annoying tbh.
I work for spectrum cable make sure your paying for the correct internet package he could also be using fiber internet compared to coax. I’m getting 600mbs downloading and 20mbs upload
6000 if you stream to Twitch, 16000-20000 if on youtube. Yes, youtube has a higher stream limit. You could probably do 40000 on youtube, but pretty much is not needed.
By far the absolutely best explanation of bitrate and walkthrough on OBS on TH-cam Thank you.
This helped so much I was so confused about bitrate when trying to stream on TH-cam
THANK YOU FOR ACTUALLY EXPLAINING THIS
Best explanation I've seen so far. Thanks so much for providing me with the information and tools I needed to be able to experiment on my own.
Love the water analogy. Very helpful.
Thank you so much...my upload was only 4....i was set at 5...i truned it down to 2 and nice steady stream...!!!! yay!!! thank you so much!!
That was.... Insanely helpful and clear. Thank you! Subbed!
This was a very helpful video! Thank you so much. Subscribed 👊
Awesome, thank you!
That sink metaphor works great, thank you

Lol i watched best settings video onhere and now im looking for more details on everything!! Good luck
Awesome video where he explains advanced features in a simple way that anyone should be able to understand. Thanks!!!
Thanks for this video. Gonna try some of this out.
Very good clear explanation. Thanks. Also CapCut works with mkv directly
Actually amazing video. No nonsense.
Best video so far
Thank you for this video and the information !!!
Very helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Curious what you think when people say you should only stream on twitch at 960p as opposed to 1080?
Thank you so much. For someone just starting to live stream, this was the best video I'd watched so far.
Thanks super helpful, best video I've found!
Glad it helped!
many thanks for this video! Explained very well...
You're welcome!
Really helpful, thankyou!!
Thank you!
Thank you.
Guy!!! That mkv vs mp4 information was INVALUABLE!!! Everyone else is just saying set it to mp4. Great video.
Thanks!!!

"Activity Monitor" app ➝ "Network" tab
Awesome video you really are good at explaining things but TH-cam tells me that using 3000 bitrate is to low any suggestions

Your GPU has a separated hardware video encoder, streaming should never affect your games even if your GPU was at 100%.
Hey man. I have a AMD ryzen7 laptop and it gives me the option to use integrated graphics. Should I use the CPU or GPU?

Excellent information.. TY ..what bitrate would you operate at if reading from speediest came back with upload at 85 mbps?
No need to stream above 6000
@@aranhawaii Thank you but I need to set bitrate on OBS when streaming TH-cam live.. I’m getting spinning wheel buffering
Can you see improvements switching from quality to performance on a good pc?
But that much high bitrate means long rendering time and long uploading time. And doesn't YT have it a like 30? Won't it hurt the quality if its that much compression?
what is the best bitrate or youtube live streaming of games i dont have issue with internet speed ?
20000 maybe, it should already look good at 15000 for 1080p 60.
My speed is 500mbps what would you recommend the bitrate. I'm streaming to twitch?
hi i have a question if i have 10.6 upload speed and i set my bit rate to 6-8 mbps why is my stream still blurry ? i dont lag or buffer but its really blurry
Thank you for the video, I'm getting ready to stream to TH-cam for the first time. My upload speed is 24.63 mbps, what should my bitrate be set to?
watch the video -_-
@9:40 for me in preset it shows a drop down box from p1 to p6 and not performance
same did you find anything new on this?
Great video with No BS

yes ryzen is amd thats the one you should use like us nvidia owners like he mentions should use the one with the nvidia name....hope that helps

So my UL is 21mbps, so my kbps should be 18,000? Not 8,000? OBS has it recommended to 10,000
what if i dont use obs since im on playstation 5 please answer me someone
which encoder would you suggest for recording ?
NVEDIA NVEC H.264 vs HEVC
Probably Nvidia
@@aranhawaii both has Nvidia nvec as their starting name

YOU ARE the best
is it worth going up to 40000 bitrate? Nvidia can easily handle 50000 on my rig but not sure about OBS. are there diminishing returns going past 8000?
He's not very interactive I see. What did you land on? I'm at 21 mbps and I was told by another guy who streams to set it to 8,000kbps
This makes zero sense I have tried every bitrate from 2500 to 4000 with lowest quality to highest quality they all look the same no setting looked better. I have 10 upload with 250 download I don't understand nothing looks better or worse.
Can you do adding discord and it actually working in OBS I don't see any videos for that here and youre the only one with non bs tutorials
My upload speed says 120 so what should my bitrate be?
I did my first ever live on youtube, and the quality is okay...
What do you think could be better?
@aranhawaii I believe the bit rate, but I was using this and another video to get more info, and now it went from low quality to good with excellent connections 🤟
@@LightningCo0kie Awesome glad you saw improvement!!!
lol where do you have the internet from? nasa? we got 10mbps upload in uk

Streaming bitrate is the total bitrate, it includes the audio bitrate.
@@GoldSrc_ It's a stupid way to code it for the interface. Should show the video rate and the audio rate and combine them in the background.
5:33 aint 1000 bits 1 kilobit?
Sure is. 1Mbps is 1,000,000 bits!
@@RichD1471yea man I’m confused lol
i have like 6.8 mbps upload speed & i stream at 4000kbps bitrate
skipped audio bitrate

how are yall getting 900 mbps of download and upload speed 😭
my internet sucks :(
My guy just pulls out 700 upload from thin air, meanwhile my upload is a solid 16. Btw download is 550, so wth lol
16? must be nice, 1.5 here. even in a 2mil+ pop city in a 1st world country. its horrid
My upload is 14😂 wtf
bro i have 5 download lol
As someone with social anxiety, the amount of eye contact was too much for me and I had to keep looking away lmaooo
Also thank you, this fixed all my lagging issues!!
poop
my upload speed is 925.89 so what do i put
6000 if you stream to Twitch, 16000-20000 if on youtube.
Yes, youtube has a higher stream limit.
You could probably do 40000 on youtube, but pretty much is not needed.
amazing thank you for this video and the information! Seeing your upload rate compared to my 3-4 mbps made me cry a little 🥲
