The reason why the CEO of Chick-fil-A made statements against same-sex marriage is that Chick-fil-A is well known as a business that espouses Christian values. That is why they are closed on Sunday.
They're closed on Sundays because it cuts down on operational costs. The religious thing is just a sales ploy. The actual controversy with Chick-fil-A, beyond decades of giving political contribution to far right-wing anti-LGBT/anti-abortion campaigns, was them lobbying the Family Research Council to prevent members of congress from voting to denounce the original Ugandan 'K*ll The Gays' bill with the goals of suppressing it as the bill was created in part by a midwestern evangelical with direct ties to Chick-fil-A's charter, 'The Cathy Family' group. That's why when a gay man had planned to shoot up the FRC HQ in retaliation he had brought Chick-fil-A sandwiches to lay on the bodies of his victims. It's never been controversial that they're allegedly christian in their CEO-ownership, its been how they express that supposed religiosity onto others.
I'm no "right wing Christian" myself, but it bothers me that the Chik-fil-A gets flagged as a "hate group" because the CEO espouses traditional values. They have never been hateful or mean to those who disagree with them.
@@CaseytifyIt's more about donating money to anti-LGBT causes and promoting the "kill the gays" bill in Uganda. Yea, Chic Filet (I don't care how they spell it) espouses "christian" values, but at the same time still utilizes the sleazy marketing tactic of plying children against their parents pocket books.
I worked at chick fil’A years ago, and we peeled the potatoes, then we sliced them through a waffle potato slicer, we hand filleted very real and raw chicken breasts and prepped before the deep frying or grilling… pretty much all the food was made from scratch. We made the tea, we had a lemon press to make fresh lemon juice… it’s really the best fast food for you. One thing you may not know about Truett , the founder… he donated millions to Winshape to help foster children. I knew several of them. I worked with one young man who was a foster child, he called Truett his “father”, and always spoke highly of him. Chick fil’A pays for full college tuition and board for fosters kids. I’m not exactly sure how it all works but I live in a city where many foster kids have been able to live on a beautiful campus and get any degree they desire. It’s amazing.
Truett has done so much for so many people and kids - beyond the best fast food and fast food service on the planet. I'm lucky enough to grow up in the town where he resided, and where his son resides now. He developed a few off-brand personal restaurants. We had two - a pizza place (now gone) and a Hawaiian themed place (Truett's Luau - still here). Many years back he was the speaker for my high school graduation Baccalaureate.
Cutting and squeezing the lemons was always my favorite part of the shift when I came into work, sadly we stopped doing that several years ago and now we just get bagged lemon juice these days. It was sad when it happened, but I would imagine it's for the best, I can't tell you the amount of times I have cut myself or ground my hand against the rotating part that juices the lemons. Though even with all of the injuries, it was still my favorite part of my job and I am bitter about loosing it to this day.
As a Chick-Fil-A employee for the past 12 years, I can tell you that we do in fact have freezers, one side is filled to the ceiling with boxes of chicken, and the other side is filled to the ceiling with boxes of fries. Our chicken comes quite frozen and we let it thaw over a couple of days in thawing cabinets. As for how we get the grill lines on the grilled nuggets and grilled filets, we cook them on a grill with heating elements on both the top and the bottom, and the top part presses down on the chicken. Fun fact, if you don't separate the chicken when you are placing it on the grill, it will sometimes melt together making giant slabs of grilled chicken. Loved the video as always! It was interesting hearing your opinion as a person that works there.
I went to Chick-fil-a one time and when I went up to the window to get my food, the employee handed me my food and a milkshake. When I said I didn’t order the shake the employee said the person in front of me bought it for the person behind him. Day made

Most fast food fries are batter coated these days to add flavor and consistency to make up for no longer cooking in beef tallow oil blends and color them up easier when frying. McDonald's developed what they call "Stealth batter" to hide the coating from customers. Yes, many "grill marks" are printed on at the processor. Those which aren't are usually done with what's called a "brander" that quickly burns a pretend grill mark to really fool eaters into thinking the food was made at the restaurant itself. 38 years in the business of supplying equipment to the mega food processors and it's amazing what they get away with. I've been in too many processing plants so rarely eat fast food any more.

Absolutely love the video Diane! I just wanted to say that Chik-fil-a also offers your DOG free “WOOFLE FRIES” when you order from the drive thru. (You have to ask though) Not sure if the one in London does this
Diane. Try mixing the bbq and buffalo sometime... reduces the buffalo sauce's kick a little and takes some of the excessive sweetness away from bbq... and I agreed with your ratings as well ! Try their salads.. you can have freshly made grilled or crispy chicken added on the salads !
Popeyes spent a year researching and testing to come up with a chicken sandwich to specifically compete with Chick Fil-a's chicken sandwich. The browned cheese on the mac and cheese is from the mac and cheese being baked in an oven, instead of being cooked on a stove.
Regular customers know that you get need to get a salt packet for the waffle fries if you want salt. They are largely unsalted for salt-free customers. The drive-through lines can be crazy long, but they are so efficient that the lines move quickly. Here in Charlotte the company is tearing down and rebuilding some of the restaurants as drive-through-only because they have lines so long they create traffic problems. One near where I work can have a line that wraps around the building and down the street, through a major intersection, and continues on the other side. Everyone politely waits at each side of the intersection, not blocking the grid. Actually, this is one that was torn down a few weeks ago and is already being rebuilt. Here in the southern US, the closed-on-Sunday policy makes the place more popular. They are able to hire and retain the best workers because the employees know they will be home with their families on Sunday. Chick-fil-a also has a scholarship program for their workers. Now that so many chicken places are making it difficult to get actual chicken breast pieces _(these days, fried chicken places only have thighs, drumsticks and sometimes wings),_ Chick-fil-a still has real white meat chicken. I've driven by the original location in Atlanta. It was _(and I believe still is)_ named The Dwarf. This might be politically incorrect these days, but I think it had a garden gnome on the roof. The Dwarf used to sell regular burgers and sandwiches, but one day the meat supplier asked the owner to consider buying some cases of chicken. The supplier had too much chicken on hand and didn't want it to go unsold. The owner agreed to help the man out and bought it, then started to figure out what to do with it. This was the birth of their chicken sandwich. Hopefully the company will expand so you can find it where you are. Try calling and asking them to consider it. Turn on the Irish charm. It works for us.

Best sauce is Chick fil a sauce. The grilled nuggs are more steak like than chicken. They are good with A1 steak sauce. Their best sandwich is the grilled chicken sandwich but get it on a plain white bun not that wheat like one they want you to have it on. Their chicken noodle soup is good and so are their wraps. The sweet tea is great.
I like to dip my waffle fries in honey when my family and I go to Chick-fil-A. I also dip my chicken strips in it, so I guess I dip everything in it. So hey, when I go to Chick-fil-A I like to dip all my food in honey. Lol
My city got it's first CFA in 2020 there was an absolute frenzy! People waited 7-10 hours to partake in the lords chicken. Weeks later there was still a 3 or 4 hour wait. We've only got the one store in the entire county of 500k people so it's always busy!
The fact i just discovered you also love Dr Pepper is wonderful. Also, Simon Whistler just posted a video about Dr Pepper which i watched just before this one.
Gravity is Diane's enemy when she's eating. There's a guy in Vermont who makes T-shirts, hoodies, and other items with the words "Eat More Kale" printed on them. Chick-fil-A sued him several years ago for trademark infringement because they said it was too similar to their slogan, "Eat Mor Chikin." He fought them in court for years, and eventually won, mainly because he was selling shirts, not food. Not long after he won, Chick-fil-A added kale to their menu. Petty.
The objection to same-sex marriages was based on his religion. It led to a fire storm, and lost sales, but the founder of the company was a devout Southern Baptist, and at the time that church was really down on it. In fact, a lot of liberal politicians still opposed gay marriage in 2011. Look around their stores and you'll see references to Christianity. I'm pretty sure they are still closed on Sundays. The employees really are that nice. They are not allowed to accept tips. And as you discovered, the food is pretty good!
When the first "boycott" hit they actually saw increased sales as a rally in support of them occurred. Those were his personal views anyway, and didn't equate to how the business treated anyone. If anything it did cause political discrimination in where a restaurant could be opened though as DCA lost out on the chance to have Chick-Fil-A in the airport because of politicians.
Being an employee there during the "boycott" I can tell you we did not loose sales ='c We did record sales that day because of all of the people that came to support CFA. Fortunately for me I swapped shifts with someone and was one of the only ones in my store that didn't work the initial day of the boycott. We stayed super busy for a whole month though so I ended up experiencing our customers full support in the end.

🎉
Absolutely love the video Diane! I just wanted to say that Chik-fil-a also offers your DOG free “WOOFLE FRIES” when you order from the drive thru. (You have to ask though) Not sure if the one in London does this
The waffle fries are a bit tricky. You need to eat them as soon as possible.
I hate them. PDQ switched from hand cut fries to waffle fries too, probably to compete with Chik Fla LA.
Waffle fries are ok when they cool off. Any fries beat cold McDonald's fries.
Aww Chick-fil-A . I go once a week here in Cali. But it's so packed. Cool seeing you in chomping down. 😊👌
Chck-fil-a are rare compared to other places . I have to drive 20-25 mins to get to the closest one . Certainly worth it but damn I live in NY
Maginificient Magical Mondays always make the day more joyful when Your Videos arrive. Chick Fil A Yay! Eat on and Party On!
Hooray hooray!!
@@DianeJennings 🎉🎉 Iam glad you got to try chick fil a
Diane. Try mixing the bbq and buffalo sometime... reduces the buffalo sauce's kick a little and takes some of the excessive sweetness away from bbq... and I agreed with your ratings as well ! Try their salads.. you can have freshly made grilled or crispy chicken added on the salads !
Waffle fries and Chic-Fil-A sauce is where it’s at.
You could always open one for yourself. They love expanding; you just have to adhere. You try to work on a Sunday and they'll close the store on you.
Hello Diane, happy Monday! Chick-fil-a cooks in peanut oil, so that gives their food a little different taste.
Yes it does!
chic fil a's slogan is "We're not Open on Sunday"
I really like Chick-fil-A. There are are two within a couple of miles across town. Yummy.
Good to know!
Popeyes spent a year researching and testing to come up with a chicken sandwich to specifically compete with Chick Fil-a's chicken sandwich.
The browned cheese on the mac and cheese is from the mac and cheese being baked in an oven, instead of being cooked on a stove.
Their sandwiches aren't bad as a competitor, but they're often out of stuff, and their floors are always sticky.. so.. ick.
BTW, love the sound effects when you take a bite.😄😄
Chickfila Milkshakes yummy 😋!
So good!
Watching this video has been “my pleasure”.
Hi Diane! Chick-fil-A has some good chicken especially their Chicken Biscuits. But nothing beats that Popeye's Chicken Sandwich. My Pleasure.
Love you so much
As a SoCal person, we have the Chik and I get how people really like it but it's always going to be behind In-N-Out
Mis Jennings. I live in the only place more Irish in the US than Boston.I live where lobsters come from. I myself, am hawaiirish. Thats a whole lotta catholic.. and I'm in love with your editor...
😳😳😳😳Imma McDonald!!!!! My feelings just got hurt where my heart is..
tell your editor, i'll be sure to drop a like and subscribe..
Slantia, "the postman"
our chic fil a's around here don't have either Barbeque or the other one. Sweet and sour, honey mustard, Polynesian those are the standards here in the Appalachian foothills
They do have some good items & thanks for the video
So sad that you didn't try the Chick Fil A sauce!
It goes marvelously withe both the chicken and the waffle fries!
A serious "miss" here!
Their chicken salad sandwiches are really good too; try one next time!
Chick-Fil-A is so delightful of course Diane would think of her dear Chewie 🥰
The sandwhich is even better with a bit of mayonaise on it, and perhaps extra pickles.
Love you Diane! 🥰😂🥰❤
You didn’t try their famous Chick Fil-A dipping sauce? That’s the best part of any meal.
I like to dip my waffle fries in honey when my family and I go to Chick-fil-A. I also dip my chicken strips in it, so I guess I dip everything in it. So hey, when I go to Chick-fil-A I like to dip all my food in honey. Lol
Imagine! An Irish lass excited about potatoes 🎉
My city got it's first CFA in 2020 there was an absolute frenzy! People waited 7-10 hours to partake in the lords chicken.
Weeks later there was still a 3 or 4 hour wait.
We've only got the one store in the entire county of 500k people so it's always busy!
Omg that’s wild! The hype is real
I didnt really get why Chik fil A was so hyped up the first time I tried it. This video makes me want to give it another try!
If only it were sponsored!!
I always order the nuggets/strips every time. Hate their politics, love their chicken. Perfect combination of chicken, breading and spice.
Every time I visit home, Chic-Gil-a is a must! Partially because the food is such a good quality. I wish they’d open one in Australia
I bet it would be a huge hit there!
@@DianeJennings I’m sure it would Aussies love their chickin
Petty.
That is so petty! I love it
The company should be sued for adding kale to the menu. Terrible stuff.
And as you discovered, the food is pretty good!
still closed on Sundays
