Cheers for doing this, it helps a lot!
Brilliant. Not played TW before and was staring at the screen wondering what i had bought and what the fuss was about. Exactly what i needed and cheers for being so clear.
Thanks a lot for this man, is really hard to move from Rome II or Medieval II to Thrones of Britannia
No problem, thanks for the comment :)
How? I'm very confused by this, not judging just curious on why it's hard for you to move to this game? Attila is considered the hardest of the total war games I could understand that this one is easier than medieval 2 in my opinion.
A much appreciated tutorial . Though I am in fact a veteran TW player, there are enough changes across multiple lines in this title that even the experienced would do well tp learn the new systems in play.
Thank you for this.
No problem Richard, thank you for taking the time to comment. I'm glad you found the video useful.
Best tutorial, it help me out a lot. Because i am a new total war player. And the game have a "low informativ" tutorial
Glad to hear it's helped you out! Thanks for the comment.
thanks for this guide,we're so lucky people like you take the time to help newcomers like me and take the time to make a tutorial well done mate
Glad I could help!
I appreciate the timestamp tldr right off the bat, I wish more tutorials did that
No problem, happy to have helped!
This was an awesome tutorial. It really helped me find new functions i didn’t know existed. Thanks!
Thanks Cold Truth, I'm glad you found it useful :)
Very well delivered tutorial, Concise, articulate and easy to follow. Very helpful indeed.
Thank you, glad you found this useful. Thank you for the comment.
thanks for the guide, I'm brand new to total war and I got so confused because the game doesn't give much tutorial so I couldn't get a grip of the game until I watch this video
No problem. I mean I haven't played this for awhile now so it might have changed a bit, but hopefully at least this gets you started :)
I have experience with previous Total War titles, and enjoyed them quite a lot actually. When I seen ToB I instantly fell in love as I love the Viking era. However, when I started actually playing it that love changed variably. I don't know why but I just had a really hard time with this one. In the first 2-4 turns all my allies decided to go to war leaving me with the tough decision of either abandoning my allies or going to war. I chose what I thought was the best option, maintain my alliances as I might need them later. I was horribly wrong. I started getting attacked and lost a few settlements before I could even raise a sufficient enough army to retaliate. One of my biggest problems with this game is how extremely slow it is to raise an army. when you have someone with 20 units coming after you you need fast recruitment. They start you off with a small army then make it virtually impossible to raise more men to defend yourself against 15+ Unit armies. What am I doing wrong??? It's extremely discouraging and ruins the experience for me.
AS a middle aged bloke brought up on Civ and Age of Empires I have never dipped my toes into this series. Was hoping for a tutorial in-game but glad I found this, more than helpful. Thanks my friend.
Hi, thanks for the comment, I'm glad you found the video helpful!
why in total war britannia doesn't have prologue or tutorial?? i play all total wars and this one is so hard, I must play it on normal
This is a very easy game
Thanks for this, it helped me out a lot. I've played most TW games, but this is very different. It strikes me that two tutorials might be necessary, one for a total beginner, and one for an experienced player looking to adapt to the changes. This falls somewhere between the two, but it got me playing, so maybe my observation is redundant. Either way, excellent work. Subscribed.
Thanks Peter, I appreciate the comment and I'm glad you found the video useful. I haven't played this game since the recent changes have been made in the recent updates, so maybe I will do a follow up video going through it. Cheers for subscribing :)
Same , I have played a lot on Total War Rome and Medieval but this is totally different
Installed this yesterday see how we go. I havent played any of these series "total war" from back in the day. This is alot of information. Really hope this game is worth it
Thanks man. First time player, tried to play my first turn and I was so lost. So thank you ^_^
Shwmae
Diolch yn fawr.
Was very helpful. I like others in the comments have only played Rome and medieval so was reall good to come across your video.
Have a good one. And thanks again.
Thanks for this. Well explained tutorial. As someone who is not normally a Total War game player I was struggling to get to grips with the game - there are so many things to be aware of. Thanks again.
No problem Neil, I'm glad you found it useful. Best advice I can give is to no be afraid to fail and have fun :)
Perfect, super helpful, thank you so much!
No problem, glad you found this useful. Thank you for the comment.
thank you so much for this. I am not huge on games, but enjoy them on occassion. this helped me alot.
Thanks appreciate it :)
Thanks for the Tutorial, My friend gave me this on steam and I had no Idea how to play it
Thanks for the comment Pepe, I hope you have fun playing and find the guide useful :)
I enjoyed watching your battle strategy. Thanks!
Thank you for the comment,I'm glad you found it useful.
I just acquired TOB, as well as Empire and Napoleon (Steam sale). I'm completely new the the series (I've had TROY for a bit as Epic offered it for free) but haven't gotten the gumption to dive head first into it yet. It's my hope that your videos will provide me the ambition I feel I need to do so. Cheers!
DragonHeart The Prince of Wales: what are those colored Tabs the Red, Blue, Green popped up when to hit the Diplomacy TAB one top Right 15:43 just curious cuz I dont pop up when I played? just curious. also Thank you much for ur detail Tutorial.
Good stuff. Appreciate the many various menu explainations. But is it also good to just get pissed up and dive in, as per 27 mins? Then work the rest out?
Not really XD totzl war is a strategy game, soo having a battle plan really helps, even if you completelyy out number the enemy you still shouldn't just charge your units blindly, in those situations just try to completely surround them so you don't lose any units
Thanks for the help mate. First time playing Total War is quiet daunting.
Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you found it useful!
Thanks mate very good Turorial.
DragonHeart, The Prince of Wales:: well, this is the best Beginners tutorial i ever saw TY, the Ui Layout is clean and clear, compared to Medieval Kingdom Wars. I tried playing it, but get overwhelmed, and lost, the Ui is messy like have no idea, what to do or build, doesn't say you need serfs, to build, and do the work. As it is i am too skilled in building and managing, but i wanna learn these types of games. With this video break down you Encouraged me to Buy this TW Game, after months of watching other videos, i didn't understand to well. But finally, i sat and Listened also played back certain parts of the video. Yup this is by far the Best Tutorial, easy to follow and understand, Man Thanks A Mil. Took me a few months to find a good tutorial. Least now i can Buy without having second thoughts, also you can see i asked B4 i commented, but wasn't to sure cuz i did not sit and watch this whole tutorial-like Now.👍🏼🏹🗡⚔
Thanks for the comment I appreciate it, also glad you found the video helpful. I hope you have fun with the game.
@@DragonHeart1791 :: Thank you for always, Responding. Means a lot to Ur viewers. Keep up the Hard Work. I know its not that simple putting Videos together.
Thanks, it is challenging, but I will always try my best to respond when I'm able, and create videos when time allows for it. I should have some more history videos up in next few days and will get the new podcast setup soon :)
Thank you so much for this!
Thank you for the comment, Im glad you found the video useful.
first time TW:ToB for me:
- chooses small faction with one or two starting provinces somewhere in northumbria which says 'normal' difficulty
- a'ight, clicking in
- a tad difficult to figure out UI, lots of new stuff I don't recognise right ahead (I totally skipped TW:Attila, though)
- starts recruiting an army to expand quickly, as I always tend to do
- is wondered why they need ten rounds to be fully replenished, walks out with half manpower
- three rounds out in the wild, eager to pillage, though food supplies run out significantly fast
- oh sh*t what do I do to fix this?
- somehow manages to capture another settlement, food situation isn't solved but gets worse instead
- angry neighbour approaches, I draw out my pitiful rest of an army towards home capital
- army starves before I reach said settlement
- angry neighbour besieges me
- game over
- should watch quality tutorial on this beforehand
- there I am, thanks dragonheart!
10/10 would do again 😂
Does anyone know how to repair a damaged building in TOB?
Excellent. Really helpful
Thank you, no problem.
How do you change stance?
I have literally no sense of what would make sense to do at any given moment from the start of any campaign. I wonder where to go? What to do?
No tutorial of any sort.
I have no notion of any kind, of what I should do. Click somewhere on some coloured thing in some settlement? Which one? When? How? What things? What I do with the king?
I launch a game expecting to be guided at least a little, but after "kill the rebels", it lets you do anything and you don't even know if you should just end the turn and other nations do whatever they do (no fucking clue what they do).
That's not how you introduce new people to a game.
Its a sandbox game. Do what you want and see what works. Its true that other total war games have better new player experiences though
Great clear tutorial, thanks
Thanks, glad you like it.
Even tho this game is two years old I still brought it, mainly due to me loving history, and I'm a brit XD I like the time this game is based in, however there isn't set formations, like I can't create noob box with just one unit.
I am bankrupt after my first turn 😩
thanks for helpful tutorial man, I appreciate it :)
Great video! Thank you very much, it is an enormous game, so your video will surely be helpful ;)
Thanks, appreciate the comment, glad you found it useful :)
Great vid !
Thanks Enzo!
What is the icon to the right of the command star on the army markers on the campaign map?
How have the game changes with the updates, have it gotten better and more complex?
Great tutorial. Are you gonna make one about the more advanced mechanics in the game?
Thanks Allan, at the moment I am doubtful if I will, maybe if CA patch it a bit more and add new stuff then I'll come back and do a follow up video.
What does turns mean?
Hey dragonheart ,can you help me?why my ai group attack and defend suddenly disappear ,i already create group of army ,it works at first in the first battle ,but in the second battle the option dissapear and i cant no longer let ai take control my group
Thank You
AndryRoby No problem :)
while playing the campaign as wesex i got a few missions from plp that want me to give them land or else I would lose loyalty but I don't know how to give them the land anyways great vid
Hi dragon heart the prince of Wales please could you do an update version of this game with the dlc as I’ve just got it and I have the dlc and it’s harder to learn everything when your screen doesn’t match yours it would be really helpful
Thank you a whole lot brother Dragonheart , I am from India , I am going to buy Troy in 2021 , coz it is not available yet on Steam . Will be waiting for a great tutorial from you brother .
I’m a semi experienced player, I struggle with mounted skirmishes tho, any tips besides counters with cav?
Great video BtW, You sir are a Legend .
Hi Joe, thanks for the awesome comment, I really appreciate it.
You can counter with spears. You can counter with archers behind spearmen.
Pretty sure foot skirmishers are the counter to mounted ones
Does army get replenish when your food negative?
No it doesn't, you'll always need a positive food deficit for replenishment/growth.
I started playing recently and Im doing great in combat, but every time my Generals' loyalty is either 1 or 2 and they start Civil Wars. I only played as Wessex and 4 Generals started civil wars. What am I doing wrong?
I know you writ this comment a while ago, but to me it. Seems your not giving your generals/nobles estates, owning your estates qre pointless so giving them to your generals increase loyalty massively, also you can increase loyalty by selecting them on the " family tree" icon, wish I seen your comment earlier but if your still playing then there you go I guess😂
@@reposter6434 Thank you for your help.
I've played Total War since Medieval 1 in the early 2000
The only ones I still haven't got the time to try out were Hannibal, Britannia and Three Kingdons
So I just started playing Britannia for the first time yesterday, and Oh Boy
The UI was just a complete mess
Played 10 turns and I still have lots of questions
So, no agents now? Also, the food mechanics are static but public order isn't? Some cityes have only 1 slot to build and you can't choose what kind it is? The tech tree is also kinda crazy
Great tutorial!!!
Cheers Jackus, appreciate it :)
This game is so damn confusing. Gonna watch and hope this helps!
Thanks for thd comment Anthony, hopefully you found this useful 😀
DragonHeart, The Prince of Wales::; i haven't bought any Total War Games. I been wanting to buy but i can't pick which one also i know nothing of it or how to play, as to why i am here hopefully i will learn something to encourage me to buy it. I am not really a multiplayer fan just more into the single player's campaign fanatic, plus i have no friends that are all into video games. also, i didn't see no video Link to ur short Animation anywhere not even in the description.
Sorry, I should have added the link. Here it is th-cam.com/video/O8FgK1O50Rw/w-d-xo.html
Also thanks for the comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you get into Total War and have fun with the games.
@@DragonHeart1791 :: i asked for a refund, cuz i wanted to get Total War EMPIRES. But yes i really want to learn how to play it, for the moment its really overwhelming for me.
Ty very much :)
You're welcome!
i have exactly the same graphics card
I've upgraded since this vid, now have RTX 2070 Super
@@DragonHeart1791 :(
xD
You did buy it :)
Ended up here after getting spanked by Mercia and losing the king in 6 turns..
I give up with this damn game, when its not a rebellion, they are starving, or someone attacks me, and if I decided to go out to attack some unloyal bastard creates a civil war
Thanks for the video… but the game feels broken… no loyalty and the usual ÇA harder settings of spam armies 😅
Shame too… because I love the era… but the game is almost unplayable
44:35
Why do they have to mess with it? I've played hours and hours on Empire Total war . I've got this game and I don't understand it at all So Difficult
Tried again . To deep. Wasted money I wont be playing it again. And they wont give me my money back I've asked!!
I'm sorry to hear that, I've barely played it since it came out.
@@DragonHeart1791 I'm back on Empire total war. Deleted Britannia
Not buying anymore total war games
@@xwasp58 I loved Empire as well! Look into downloading darthmod for empire, it makes a ton of changes that make the game feel more epic. Also Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai is similar enough to Empire that you shouldnt have any real problems adapting. Rome 2 is a good choice if you don't want to have guns and worry a lot less about food, but army organisation is more like Thrones. Sorry if this is all redundant info for you or if it's annoyingly late.
TOO MUCH INFORMATION! I really want to play the Total saga games, but this is just too much! HELP!
