Ezra is definitely up there with, "For what it's worth, I've got a good feeling about this." Can't recall the episode, though. Might have been for a blunt humor, but come on, it's Rebels.
@@steffenschmidt3470 I can't place that one either but I can definitely here Ezra's delivery of that line and for some reason it feels like Hondo is involved.
So the more vague and less tangible the threat, the better? I’d never thought about it in such literal terms with regard to a ‘feeling’ but I see your logic. I always kind of judged it based on how funny sounded the delivery was.
@@StarWarsExplained Oh I have to agree on the point of the Obi wan TFM being the best one though. It’s by far the most meaningful one for the story and on a funny meta level.
On not overusing it, not every novel or comic run uses "I have a bad feeling about this". But when a writer finds a good place in it, where it would work to express an idea similar to that, they go for it
overall I agree but in terms of the Han Solo uses of the phrase, I do think it fits his character quite well in that he's understating what is quite obviously a bad situation
From the thumbnail it looked as if the title said "I have a dad feeling about this." New spin on the line for the Rogue Squadron movie perhaps? "I have mixed feelings about this." "I have no particularly strong feeling about this." "I am ambivalent about this." "I would not like to share my feelings about this." "I would like to know *your* feelings abou this." "i am bad at feeling things." "Things I feel bad about: a list." "I am about feeling things."
I know you're listing possibilities here, but I just imagined a long cut of everyone on the squad saying these lines similar to them calling in "standing by"
I see what you're saying, but I love the way Ford delivers the line in A New Hope. I didn't even realize Luke says it first until I watched this video because it sticks in my head so much.
To be fair, when Han said it in ANH, the walls had not started moving. There were audible clanks (and it doesn't take a genius to figure out what was about to happen) but they still seemed mainly worried about the dianoga (or sudden lack thereof).
Really fun idea for a video. Personally, I think I have to go with Rogue One and K2 being cut off, but I do enjoy whenever this line pops up. I wonder if it will continue to be said as (presumably) we get movies less and less connected to the Skywalker saga.
The salt at the bottom of the list! We could cure nerf steaks with that. 😄 I will say I disagree about #10 - saying the line before diving in wouldn't work unless you re-wrote Han's behavior at that point. He's in full "well it beats getting shot by stormtroopers" mode at that point; it would be a complete tonal change to use the line there. Plus, he's at least 10 years separated from his time in the Imperial forces, so he may not know it's a trash compactor. Han gets uncomfortable when there's no visible threat so the line is natural here.
I was hoping you'd put BB-8's at the top but after hearing your explanation for Obi-Wan's use of the line in TPM I completely agree now. Having said that, I would have loved hearing Yoda get his crack at the line, even though it's probably totally unrealistic to expect him to say it.
I wish they got a bit creative with it in TROS. It was cool in TROS but since it’s the last one, I would’ve liked them to have a more interesting approach.
I’d love it if sometime in a movie or tv show the main characters find a crashed ship or abandoned building and as they search the creepy halls someone scribbled “I’ve got a bad feeling about this” in Aurebesh on the walls or a piece of paper or something That would be hilarious and a great Easter egg
A list of best overall lines from the movies/shows would be a good idea for a video. Clearly #1 is Obi Wan when he said the immortal words "you won't get away this time, Dooku"
What about Clone Wars movie?! Lol. I don't even remember who says it in that one, if any. I thought someone did, but it's such a throwaway line. I think your ranking is a good one!
How about Hayden Christensen saying it in 'American Heist'? That's some fan service, extra-franchise. But he didn't know what they were up to, so it was appropriate the use.
I said it once. Back in '99 sitting in a theater during The Phantom Menace. The movie had just started. That ship flies across the screen. Then they switch to inside. Liam Neeson says something to the pilot, and when he turns around to respond, he looks like a sixteen year old kid,...and a truly bad feeling swept over my body. :(
HA! Two side stories and arguably some would say the worst Star Wars movie ever get three out of the top four spots. I agree Rogue One and TLJ were surprises, great twists while still doing the homage. Solo I wasn’t really counting because it was exactly it, but your reasoning won me over and it is ironically very funny. Rogue One is the best! Make Solo 2 happen!! TLJ was a bad movie but a good story, opening up the world of Star Wars, and gave us two incredible visual scenes, one of which (Holdo maneuver) may be the best thing in all of Star Wars visually.
So only live action, no animated films? I actually don't remember if it's in the Clone Wars movie or not, it's definitely in the show. That would be good a Schmoedown question. Which Star Wars movie does not have a rendition of the "I have a bad feeling about this" line? People would misremember it as The Last Jedi and then boom, Clone Wars.
“Are your instincts as the chosen one kicking in, or are you just using your eyes?”
The absolute SHADE!

One of my favorites is when Leia says “I have a bad feeling about this” in the asteroid cave/space slug in The Empire Strikes Back.
I remember going in to see Episode 1 and saying to friends, "I wonder if they are going to say it?" First line! and we LOL'd.
The screenshot from Episode I just gives me such nostalgia. I loved that opening scene

I loved the line in Rogue One lol
someone just made a lot of people mad with the 13/12 spot
I want someone to say i have a bad feeling about this, only for them to be immediately proven wrong and for everything to go right
The first one will always be my favorite, is the one that feels the most genuine. The one from SOLO is a great variation though.
Who said it best is clearly HAL 9000 in 2001 A Space Odyssey, 9 years before the Star Wars first film.
#1 was the very first use of the line that I ever heard. I agree, it's brilliant.

Finally asking the real questions.
Ewan's delivary is great in Ep 1 because he didn't play it as the trope that it is, he said it as genuinly as the character would have felt it
I think BB-8 should have the bottom spot. It's not that bad but come on, I didn't even notice it!
Are you going to do a list for this but for Animation? I'd really like to see that!
Can't complain about # 1. To me, it would've been better had Obi Wan started with the 'Hello there' line
Awesome video! But just to point out, the title should have the quotation end at This, not Ranked
How about Hayden Christensen saying it in 'American Heist'? That's some fan service, extra-franchise. But he didn't know what they were up to, so it was appropriate the use.
About 3PO, you should have mentioned that he actually doesn't have feelings cause he's a droid what kinda makes it funny
Would have loved if you showed the clips from the movies instead of simply describing them. But a fun analysis nonetheless
