Very nice Mr. Rivera. Now your tailgate has a secret place for ropes, bungee cords, air hose, or maybe rain gear? I would prolly spray it with black bed liner paint to match the bed.
It holds all of my compressor gear, as well as some recovery gear at the moment

Mmm for the most part I don’t hear anything rattle back there, could be due to the insulation I put in there, also it’s pretty packed lol the inl6 thing I would change is the way it’s installed tbh I don’t think drilling all of those holes was really necessary.
I've got a GFC camper. That insert strong enough to still stand on top of to close up my tent?
I believe the bpf guys did a jump test on their instagram @bpfabricating. I’ve stood on mine as well as sat on mine for an extended period and it didn’t seem to flex. However, I can’t really say much cause I’ve only had it on the rig for about a week.
A couple of questions: why do the locks seem to stick up and are not flush? It would seem to me that sliding cargo will hit and damage the lock. Or accidentally be "opened" if something is set on them. Also, I see that you have a camper cover, can you open the storage from inside without letting the tailgate down?
Gear often hits my tailgate and I roll gear over the locks all the time, haven’t had any issues since I pretty much keep it locked when it not In use. You can open it with out putting the tailgate down.

Question thoe? Did you end up painting it? I like the look of the raw but does it get too hot in the sun where you can’t sit on it or it’s too reflective it’s unbearable?
I left it raw cause I kinda like the look. It does get stupid hot if it’s in direct sunlight but I rarely have it out in the sun, it’s either in the shade from my awning/ topper or covered by my topper tent.
Any luck finding a tailgate assist for the extra weight?
I haven’t really been looking into it to be honest. The tail gate is a bit more heavy now since it’s loaded up with stuff but it hasn’t really an issue for me at the moment.
For and extra 10 bucks I would just buy the Huracan fabrication one it is a fully enclosed box not just a lid and it has carpet on the inside and it is powder coated.
Last time I checked the Hfab storage was like 600$ base price with out options. The BPF one is 345$. I suppose it comes down if you need the items you put in the storage enclosed.
I only put stuff I don’t really care if they get dirty in there. The primary purpose for this storage for is just easy access.
Should measure and print some 3D trays for that.
That would be pretty tight. I’m trying to find some water proof containers I could shove down in there in the mean time.

Does water get into the compartment?
Yes it’s kinda impossible to make the tailgate fully water proof. If you have anything that can’t get wet I wouldn’t put it in there unless it was in a waterproof case or bag.
im alittle confused, what goes in all the holes you drilled if you just reuse the holes on the inner side of the bed? mYbe i missed something lol
They’re just holes for the hinge screws to drop into lmao. They stick out about a quarter inch.

Don't the tailgate already so freaking heavy? And now you want to add more stuff to it. 😅. Someone should create an aluminum tailgate for tacoma instead to replace the current one. Then these storage can be consider, otherwise you must be crazy 😅
Mmm I never considered the tailgate to be heavy personally. Currently it’s just some hoses and my water port stuff in there. It doesn’t make it that much heavier
I just don't get it, thats a lot of work just to store a few things. I can't believe you'd have to drill all those holes just to get it to lay flat and water can still get in. I'll just stick to my inside the bed toolbox.
It’s a way of utilizing space that you wouldn’t normally be able to utilize. I don’t remember if I said it in the video but everything that I used to have to climb on top of my rig for is now in that tailgate storage. Yes water can still get in, kind of, but I have a topper so I rarely get water into that area, and on top of that, anything that I put in there that needs to be away from water is in a waterproof box or bag.
