Like what you see? Pre-Order the game here! - gsght.com/c/xws9td its fun to click the link so click it Hey so how about something VERY different! Sega was kind enough to invite me to come over and take in a preview of the latest Yakuza game, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii! Your favourite RGG Studio influencer is at it again I guess! TL;DR its all the yakuza madness you've come to love and expect, the pirate/naval aspect is very well done, combat is the most interesting its been to date, and its a very worthwhile addition to the series. Everything presented to me makes it feel like the game is very much another "jumping in point" for the series, as the Majima plot is not tied to infinite wealth(at least not directly) and he starts with amnesia so its basically a blank slate, so if you are in the mood for just a plain ol' pirate game I think it works well as that too!
"Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii" is a combination of words that have never even been uttered together in human history and I'm glad I was born in this era to witness them
@@CarbyGuuGuu Tricky wasn't at the event I was at I'll say at least. Considering how incredibly high production it was overall there was shockingly few people(at least to me)
Yes little bit of Virtua Fighter jokes at the start, but there actually is no VF6 to talk about... yet anyways. Game still early on! Til then sail the seas and try to take on the satan shark to make Jeffry's life easier
Absolutely love you covering some stuff outside of fighting games. You're my go to guy for them, but I simply enjoy your presentation style a lot, so having you cover something like this is actually super cool, especially since I'm really looking forward to the game. Keep it up Roofle. and much love!
thanks for the kind words. Yeah very different for me to say the least but who knows maybe every now and then something like this could pop up again in the future
its a crazy life. Like I got snubbed for the Terry press event cause capcom japan is mad that I make videos that are TOO informative instead of bland hype, and even changed the NDA's so you can't make vids like I do. This whole industry is weird.
I did not know this game was going to be closer to a character action game than a beat 'em up or rpg. I think this video just made me decide to buy this....
Like its still very much a Yakuza game so I don't wanna misrepresent it there, but the actual combat is now getting closer to a character action style with much more aerial aspects.
This is a pleasant surprise! I love the Yakuza series and Majima is my favorite character, so this game was already catering to me, along with the fact that its gonna have the usual Yakuza combat with JUGGLE combos now like WHAAAT?! I'm hyped to the end and back for this game.
Our favorite pillar of the Yakoozer community back with another gem. I finally started Infinite Wealth about a week ago and it's great. Hope to finish it in time to have a refreshing break before this.
Seems to me like Sega and RGG studios recognizes your love and desire to support Virtua Fighter and decided to have you help with this game too. I need to go pick up a Yakuza game eventually. Hope something like this can continue once VF6 actually comes out!
As someone who loves the series I wasn't very hyped for this game until the previews hit. Ramping up the silliness even more feels like it could hurt the awesome melodrama and gangster power struggles, but man I just love what I'm seeing of the combat.
Well Majima in his current day form(as opposed to yakuza 0) isn't really the melodrama guy anymore. That said who knows, the details on the plot were very very light, but given you know... pirates... I gotta assume its erring towards the absurd
Not who I expected to see something like this from, but Rooflemonger taking up Gamespot type of reviews and whatnot is a combo I want more of. Let him be the FIRST to touch vf6!!!!
I'm more ezcited for this than I was the Kiryu gaiden game. I'm having a blast with Dynasty Warriors Origins, sounds like we'll have some musou segments. Throwing his dual blades looks alot like the Sun Shang Xiang Chakram throwing animation. Finally excited for the Devil May Cry style combat.
this game looks like a lot of fun! I played Yakuza 0 and Like a Dragon this past year and had a blast! I don't have Infinite Wealth, but it's on my radar!
They invited rooflemonger to do this to distract him from the holy truth of VF6 ‘Heeeey look over heeeeere at the cool pirate game’ meanwhile they wheel a tv with VF6 on it behind him and out of sight /j this is cool
I wonder how many games exist, where, at the beginning of the game, you are lying stranded at a beach with amnesia.^^ But beside that, i think, that this game will be great fun, something like Black Flag on drugs.
The customisation in this looks awesome, gaiden had great customisatiom too but this is another level, creating the most absurd looking ship imagineable is gonna be sweet and bonkers, also pirate baseball..........SOLD feb get here faster
well theres only uhhhhh 7 more games to get through after that one til you get to this one lol. That said though this one very much is presented as a "standalone"
Yo Roofle this was unexpectedly sick of ya to cover, great high quality overview! I hope you can answer this crucial question: how many seconds were you able to aerial juggle combo enemies? RGG’s previous Gaiden game sadly limited players to a 6 second maximum juggle, which was a HUGE downgrade from the combo possibilities in their best action game to date (unless this dethrones it) Lost Judgment My only worry with this new RGG action game is another foolish combo limiter, especially when the combat design is more conceptually stylish character action inspired than LJ, considering all the weapons and aerial focus (also wow practically ARPG summons!)
well I didn't have enough time to go hyper in depth cause our preview was broken up into segments. I don't think you can keep someone in the air for 30 seconds like some vergil combo but the aerial aspect is very much a planned part of the game now.
What makes me sad about this is that I can't find any enjoyment in the style-focused combat games like Devil May Cry. I loved that series when it first came out, but over time I just stopped experiencing fun from games where chasing the needlessly long arial combo (for no other reason than earning style points) became the point. I hope that you folks that do have fun with that type of gameplay have a blast with this, but I don't think this entry will be for me.
learning combos is definitely a challenge for sure. i'd recommend the souls games if you're looking for a more simplified, casual experience. mostly rpg focused with just a light and heavy attack. you don't get much health so it takes patience, but you're guaranteed to win if you just keep throwing yourself at the bosses and mash dodge frequently enough.
@@эпическийнегр It's honestly not a "combos" issue. I'm a long-time fighting game player (I'm old enough to have played the original SF2 machines in the arcade as a kid), and I'm one of From Soft's biggest proponents. My problem with DMC isn't the ability to perform combos and getting S+ ranks. My problem is that I just don't like the Devil May Cry style-based gameplay loop. For whatever reason, performing combos solely for the sake of high scores just isn't fun for me. Dunking on a competing player somehow IS fun to me, where performing a thirty minute air combo for a largely meaningless SSSS+ rank leaves me cold. I hope that makes sense.
@zenhydra that is odd, but not every game is for everyone. style is what devil may cry is known for, but it's also a very difficult series if you're playing beyond normal and hard. you should give dante must die a shot in DMCV if you have a copy.
idk, the gameplay looks amazing but the actual premise of the story and setting leaves an awful taste in my mouth, like another huge red flag for the series’ future.
