This is so crazy to see. Not even 30 seconds in and I already recognized the church on Sprague street in Winston...I pass by it every day on my way to Forsyth Tech. I had no idea it’s been there that long!
Winston-Salem back in its hayday when it was actually booming and full of life! I hope one day it’ll be just as vibrant like this or even better in the future 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Richard Joshua Reynolds Jr. ... Born: April 4, 1906, Winston-Salem, NC Died: December 14, 1964, Lucerne, Switzerland Reynolds was diagnosed with emphysema in 1960 and died four years later in Switzerland.
Thank you Noah. Interesting to see that era and people who I only knew by name. I'd really enjoy seeing the buildings and grounds at Devotion if you ever have the time and desire.
the good ole says my parents grew up in and I then grew up in... when America had SECURITY in company careers and communities all worked together proudly. Miss this secure holesome era in time... and the Old Winston Salem..
Absolutely charming film. Despite what's considered racist by today's standards, for 1942, the provisions for African-Americans, as I understand it started decades earlier by "Mrs. RJ" (Reynolds). Considering the time CONTEXT, they wanted to provide the very best for ALL citizens, which I feel was very admirable despite the obvious unfairness of racial segregation. Thank you for uploading!
@@jcr3891 You don't have to be American or to recognize the underpinnings of xenophobia and institutional racism so evident in this telling historical film. I should know I grew up in Winston Salem and it should be said out loud.
@@scottb8882 They do show Home Church, but not in the montage of churches at the beginning when they're talking about the Moravians. That said, it does get a shout out later, so cool, I guess.
