Actually a lot of people don't seem to know how to play as Rafaam. They all rush to finish the staff but really what you should be doing is keeping the staff at epic so you get removal tools. KT has very little board clear so rushing the board hard and heavy is one of the main ways he wins and legendaries are unreliable as far as controlling the board. I won almost all my games as KT due to my opponent thinking legendaries would carry him.

I have something to say here, and many will judge me. I would like to thank Kripparrian. I know he isn't even gonna see this, but well, whatever. My name is João Pedro, I'm 17 and from Brazil, and I watch all his videos, but especially the one about his life in cards he made, wow, it touched my heart. Many people look at games as a fool thing, my parents for example do that, I'm not an addicted to gaming (well, just a lil'bit) but I've got a social life, and I see kripp, man, this guy is insane, I know a bit of him, but I dont know why but I love him so much because he make my days better with his videos, and he seems to me a very good and nice person, with many things to teach us, and he takes games in a serious way, and he has stories to tell with it. Sorry if this comment seems bullshit for you guys, but i've had to write it, he makes me feel well when I come tired from school, when I have relationship problems, and things like that, and I would like him to know that he helps me to keep being a little better person everyday, and make me feel less that I'm the worst person that exists. Sorry if there were english mistakes, sometimes I fail with that. And if you read it, thanks too.

I love it when you get both pieces of staff in your opening hand for a free win. The KT buff was nice, but Rafaam's board clears were left unchanged so he has more than enough time to scale up to his op hero power.

Boy, if you win with Kelthu in this one you deserve a medal.
Also, Naxx cards while less in number, have nowhere NEAR as much value as the good legendaries.
When you're discounting them by 4, they're ALL good legendaries. That's the problem.
Except for Millhouse. You'd have to get paid a lot of mana to consider playing it.
Millhouse is basically the same as conceding.
I actually played some games, never lost while playing kel'thuzad and while I did win with rafaam it wasn't easy. Though it did start getting easier after several games as rafaam.
This tavern brawl is basically win as Rafaam if you control board enough to make it to late game, as Kel you can only win if you have a good oppener and keep the pressure on every turn.
Its those dam 0 mana board clears and other cheap removal Rafaam has that makes him so good. It lets him survive long enough to get his full hero power.
Kel has no board clears either, meaning when he's behind he has just about no chance of recovery.
I am not a pro in predicting things, but this first game, Kripp having a tree of life... i guess he will win

My first game I played as Rafaam and I played Benedictus on turn 8... I am extremely disappointed that they didn't code it so Rafaam said "I like your deck. I think I will take it!"
I personally don't like how it turned into so much of a tempo game with the win-condition of both heroes being essentially the same- overwhelm the board, with Rafaam having the slightest edge this time by the sheer amount of AoE he has at his disposal and it can get really finicky if he gets the second staff card quickly, but it actually plays like an oldschool game of Hearthstone, you know what's in your deck, you know what's in your opponent's deck, you know exactly which threats you have to neutralize with what and when and the RNG of hero-powers really only adds to the experience.

Nah. I've won plenty of games with Kelly. It relies on your opponent getting just the worst hand, but it's very much doable.
Arrakiz666 legendaries don't have as much value as epics. Spells are so useful for rafaam
i lost my first game of this tavern brawl as rafaam :(
So when the grand widow faerlina got death'd it dropped from 8 to 7 before the card disappeared. Would the death not work if it's at 5 attack then the death is used since it drops to 4 before the animation goes through?

It is kinda sad to see all these great cards that are not playable in standard / arena anymore. I really miss a lot of them. it also remainds me about when control warrior was at its strongest. R.I.P those days... now it is just all about I`m in charge! and jade shit.
Had the exact opposite experience in this Brawl. Last night I was given Kel ten times in a row - I won the first nine times.
I like the blooper in the beginning
so I guess it was just me that on first match i had full staff on turn 4. I only played this tavern brawl once this week and I thought you always draw all the pieces one after the other XD

First game, got Rafaam, opponent insta-conceded turn 0, I run good.
Second game, got KT vs some newbie, didn't trade, got the tempo, won quite easily.
Rating: Get the pack, try both sides and run with the points till the next one.
2:20 someone explain why it duped the Grand Widow and not the scientist? Kinda wrong since scientist hit the board first....
Maybe a balance change that could have been made was not give Rafaam the second staff piece as his first draw? Then again, looks like there's considerable distance to when you create the full staff. Or the Rafaam you faced didn't use it.
Like... yea, already bumping him to Epics on turn 2 may not be much, but it's something if Kel'Thuzad still feels disadvantaged.
I hate that the exclusive cards just make "Ha!" or a sound from a different card when they enter the battlefield.
I prefer the first upgrade over the legendary upgrade on the staff, you can get some nice spells instead of useless legendaries
Dumb question: is Kripp talking to his friends on the headset? I know he used to do it a lot in old videos but you could hear their audio as well. I've always just assumed he was responding to twitch comments though
I played 3 games, first to see if it changed at all - loss second to get the first win, didn't get Rafaam - conceded, got Rafaam - won
one guy i played discovered finley from dark peddler and decided healing for 2 was better than a legendary that costs overall 2 less!

The only times I won with Rafaam was when I didnt upgrade the hero power. Otherwise I ended with Helmet... or Milhouse. Of course my oponent got Dr. Boom and/or Alexstrasza.

Kel'thuzad just doesn't look like he has enough big cards to contend with the stream of massive creatures coming out of Rafaam.
they should make an expansion for these two heroes and release some cards that are in the decks

Out of every game I played, I didn't lose one game as Kel and I didn't win one as Rafaam, so from my unscientific sample size of games, I think Kripp's assertion of balance for this one is completely upside-down and bonkers.

I think the only reason I lost as rafaam on my first try in this brawl was because I drew all of my late game and none of my good cheap removal then got a random spell off Ethereal Arcanist and chose mana bind and stole a duplicate except when I played it and then played the card that makes the whole board evolve and I got Hemett which he killed and after a couple dead draws I decided to play it without know what the rest of my deck was and then destroyed 10 cards in my deck. I died to fatigue damage.
It's so hard to win as Kel'Thuzad, Rafaam has too much removal, Putress Vial, Hakkari Blood Goblet, Lothar's left Greave, Shard of Sulfuras, 2 Dark Bomb, 2 Pain, 2 death, 2 Forgotten Torch, 2 entomb, 2 dragonfire potion, 2 flamestrike, and he can play his hard removals and op minions in the same turn because they cost less, you can't win unless Rafaam has a shity early game.

First (and only, I don't need more than one game, duh) I went Kel'thuzad, played Necromancy in my first turn, got Kel'thuzad, played him as soon as possible and opponent just left the game. Yep, easy game, easy life.
But really, this is one of the funniest brawls, even if every new version is totally unbalanced. Probably the only brawl I like to play more games.

No, this is not kind of imbalanced. It's either, you get Rafaam, or you lose miserably. How many more times will this be in rotation before they realize it's not something people want to play. Most matches people are conceding if they get KT.
i made a comeback as rafaam from 6 hp with 2 deathwings, one tarim and one white eyes, my opponent being at almost full hp.

hey im new to the game and won a round of tavern brawl. and id like to know if i only get something for the first win?
Honestly I found it a lot better this time. KT feels a lot more powerful, his hero power last time was garbage. It feels a lot more control-ish and slow, I liked it a lot. Rafaam doesn't feel all that powerful to me, honestly I won a lot with both of them.

How to balance this brawl:
1. Shuffle staff pieces randomly into Rafaam's deck.
Done... seriously, that's it...
Or nerf Rafaam's removal either one would work.
It's the 0 mana board clears Rafaam has that makes him so good. His lv 3 hero power is great, but its the board clears with their high value and removal that lets him live long enough to upgrade to god status. KT's board clears and removal by comparison are meh.

Rafaam Staff (2 pieces) gave me Living mana into Faint death (i think that's how it's called, it's the trigger all deathrattles card). That was fun. For me.
