I LOVE this! I might even have to show my hubby since you did make some excellent points on collectors in general! Good luck getting through your list xo
I recently sold 5 decks that I had but wasn't using. In terms of space they were taking it up while not really giving anything back. I appreciated the artwork of a few of them but knew I just wasn't going to read with them. Others I didn't like as much but luckily they all found homes where I know they're appreciated. Sometimes collecting decks can help expand other's collections as well :D
Thank you for saying this!! I have about 100 decks and I loveeee seeing how artists create new interpretations of the tarot! It is awesome for me! And I love ALL of my decks, and I try to circulate them as much as i can, but yes, some of them I don't use as much - sometimes it is because I think it would vibe with me when I see it online, then I buy and I don't quite click with it. But I enjoy collecting and I am happy that I am not the only one that is collecting so many decks lolol
I love and appreciate that you give props to Gypsy Chique and Owlmoon, in particular--and, in general, to the other collectors who share their knowledge so those of us who buy decks to use can get a good look at what's available!
i can listen to you babble all day!! i can just feel your passion and your so witty and communicate so well! i just love it! ive fallin in love with you channel. ive been watching owl moons learning tarot videos but i am really diggin yours and all the juicy info you able to provide :)
I only read for myself and have a handful of decks but my wish list is so long. I just want them all lo! It's so hard to choose which deck to buy especially because I am the most indecisive person in the world lol. I recently sold some decks that I couldn't connect with so I can buy more. Once I get a deck I just want another one. I do use a deck everyday. Love your take on collecting and studying decks! Thanks for sharing!
Ugh, Kelly-Ann, I adore you so much! For me, as a tarot student, I actually purchased shadowscapes first and was like "whoa this imagery is gorgeous" but I couldn't get myself to really connect with the deck to where I felt my queries were being fully addressed or if I understood them. Then my lovely lovely mother gifted me with revelations tarot (and a fortune card oracle deck that's quite cool) and oh my goodness I have never connected with a deck so hard and so fast. As soon as I got revelations and started doing readings it was one of those moments where I really felt connected. To the point where I'd feel like the cards would tell me "really, dear, you know what we are gonna tell you! just go fucking do it!!" So anytime someone mentions revelations my heart leaps. ❤️ I also saw the prisma visions tarot, the wild unknown and a vampire tarot deck that I'm drooling over, but I feel like I'm attracted to the art and worry about not connected on a diviner-deck level. Sigh. Anyway, I love you and your videos!!
I used to be an avid collector of tarot and oracle decks many years ago when I read professionally. I had literally hundreds of decks that would just sit on my shelf. I wanted to create this library of decks that could be used for all kinds of readings. I also collected because I thought that there would be that one deck out there for me that I would really click with and then I could stop getting more and more decks. I stopped reading professionally a few years ago but I do intend to go back to it again some time in the future. I have since sold more than half of my collection online but still have around a hundred decks in my collection. A lot of them are multiple copies of the same decks. For example two of my favourite decks of all time are the Hezicos Tarot and the Touchstone Tarot. I have several copies of them and I use one for myself and one to read for others. I still like the idea of having the choice of which decks to use for what kind of readings, being able to appreciate how different artist depict the same archetypes in so many different ways etc. However, If I could go back in time I would not have collected so many decks especially since I do not have the time to use them. I always say to my partner: 'Too many decks, too little time' :)
I love collecting decks. I consider them as artwork as well as historical. I put it on a level of art, stamp, coin collection ect.. Some I could never read with but those are the ones that bring me joy just from the imagery or something else about them that I love to just hold and look at. I agree a person that is a passionate collector will relate :)...
I love looking at the artwork of different decks. I have the Robin Wood which has been my go to deck for years, and Louise Hay’s Power Thought Cards, an Ohham Deck I made myself, and I have just ordered Joann Powell’s Gaian Tarot which I have been absolutely drooling for for years. Lol! I think that one will become my go to mow and RW will become my witchy magickal working deck.
You really should get one or two decks reserved just for yourself and the people in your intimate circle. There's definitely an advantage to having a deck that's "pure" or dedicated to specific personalities and set of events. I did this early on and I'm glad I did. The other advantage to a personal deck or a deck used for readings on a specific set of situations or people is that you can do a series of readings and put the deck aside for days, weeks, even months before doing a reading again. So, if you're really trying to see if a situation has changed or remained the same, it's very interesting to pick up a deck that you know you touched 3 months ago and hasn't been used for anything else. I found your channel last week and I love it.
Love this video! for years my card collection stayed the same but now I am also starting to collect again. In a way it's a lovely experience but it's also strange how guilty it makes me feel to have all these new deck to play with. For me this is a new experience of abundance that I em exploring.
Love your video, I totally share your point of view. Don't think anyone has the right to judge another on collectionsize or even the reason why they purchase in the first place. I love differenent people's perspective on tarot and artwork. For me that is also a reason why my deck collection is growing. I love to read, study and feal the different energy of the cards. Thanks for your honesty and sharing your wisdom.
Loved what you had to say on this. My Oracle and Tarot collection has started to grow in the last couple of years. I also really have to be drawn to a deck. Its art like you say you only have to look at the cards to get something outof them. Please do more reviews!
O.R.W: I love this deck so much. The imagery in this version speaks to my heart. I love the color scheme, the feel of the cards, the finish, the smell. Just to hold them is heaven, let alone reading with them
Very much enjoy this little chat . :) I totally understand the concept of collecting the decks. Some of mine, I collect simply because the artwork inspires me . Sometimes I purchase a deck simply because doing so makes me happy. I have decks that I use for readings but others that I probably will never read with. As always, loved the video!
OMG I love this video Kelly-Ann! You made me feel so OK to be a nerdy collector! I'm mad about cards from the 1980's! So many on my wishlist! I have I think over 30 decks right now, but loads are oracles too. I have 4 Tarot decks that I usually go to for clients - but I do pull out random other ones for people when the spirit moves me. I have one deck that I don't even Instagram because it's too amazing to me. It's the Art Through the Eyes of the Soul Oracle and my folks bought it for me at the Henge shop in the middle of Avebury Stone Circle. My BF needs to watch this video. :-P xx
I love this video! I am such a collector of various things, but it represents my personality, my life, my passions. I think of my tarot collection as a miniature library of art and symbolism. Faeries may call to me one day and Impressionist art the next! I collect postcards, prayer beads, crystals, tarot, oracles, dice, rabbit figurines, journals, talismans and amulets, etc. So much fun! And I plan on doing this for my entire life, so nothing wrong with stocking up for the future! :)
I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your video's. Not only are you very soothing to listen to but you have also really helped me in discovering my spirituality. I have been trying to learn the Tarot and finding it a bit difficult, I just don't really connect to the rider waite imagery. I recently bought the Faery Oracle and instantly I felt more connected.
I absolutely *get* the collecting mindset. Among other things, I collect unusual non-Tarot of decks just to have them. Sometimes they'll get some use, sometimes they'll just sit there as a novelty. And that's fine. But I feel differently about Tarot (and a few others that I work with regularly). They have to be "just so". I've bought quite a few decks over the years simply because I loved the few cards I'd seen online or was attracted to the overall theme, but once I had them I quickly realised that there were cards that just didn't work for me or the atmosphere of the deck as a whole wasn't right for me. And so I've sold quite a few decks over the years. Kept a fair few as well, mind you, but even so, as far as Tarot is concerned, I read almost exclusively with my beloved Rider Waite Smith.
As a collector of art books I approve of this video! And speaking about journaling, I've just started journal about two of my favorite decks, RWS and Thoth, comparing and studying their minor arcana, trying to extract the meaning out of their symbols. And it's been a blast! It's been so useful that it makes me wonder why haven't I started this sooner.
Love this video, i started reading tarot a couple of years ago and i am collecting decks, its a fantastic hobby. I'm working my way through ur video's, they are all interesting and i wanted to say thanks for the wisdom, it seems to come at just the right moment.
Enjoying watching this for another (actually it's the third) time. I find I like to watch your videos over again to absorb everything, also my home life means I get distracted by someone needing me to do something....gone back to your trainee tarot course this week too. X
Always fun to watch a video from you. I've been beginning to really start studying tarot despite having used the cards off and on for a few years or more. I'm going to buy a journal this weekend to begin doing "pathwork" with them as you would say and going deeper into the meaning and giving my own interpretations. Your words in videos have really inspired me to learn more and dedicate a journal separate from my grimoire that will be solely for entries about the cards. Thank you for making videos. Discovering them has been like discovering a sort of mentor to my path...especially in regards to divination work. May you have a blessed weekend!
Loved watching this. Right now I am being very specific in my deck purchases because I want to have a solid and diverse working collection of decks to read with so I am filling gaps that I feel give me diversity to choose from for clients :) BUT I have no doubt that eventually I will move to collecting--I do that already and have for years with playing card decks. It's a lot of fun and satisfying!
Your channel was recommended to me by a friend this morning ~ this is the first video I've watched, and I love you already :) I, too, collect tarot and oracle cards (I think I have 41 decks...?), and love each one for its own unique reason. I use them all regularly ♥ It was lovely to connect with your energy, and I look forward to watching more of your videos! Bright blessings, Kathaleen ♥
It's pagans in the pub with Kelly-Ann again! Yay! One day I will have a beer "with" you, haha. :) I used to be a minimalist, like you, I recognised the value in having a variety of decks to add more layers onto one's tarot knowledge. I now have a collection that's growing at a rate of one per sabbat. It's a good way to slow myself down on buying them and make sure they're for me. I agree that all the folks who buy ALL the decks and review them for us are fantastic! Also, I think I need a monocle to see my Shadowscapes better too! Love
I am looking forward to hearing more about your tarot journal. Organizing things chronologically is really not working for me and I feel called to shake it up a bit.
I bought myself The Shadowscapes deck as well and have done 1 reading with it but I also feel the need to spend some time with it before using it with clients.
That's so funny, I just had my nose re-pierced after years and years. Had it done when I was 16 and wore it until I got this one office job where they had 'issues' with it (????) but I needed the job for the money, so I took it out. Now I've worked for myself for long enough I just though, hey I liked that, I'm going to have this in my life again!!xx
The beginning of your new series, Beer and Tarot. I'm not much of a collector of anything. I typically get stuff to use. Okay, I collect American pennies from a certain time period. I may, however, eventually put them to use. Recently, I've been going through a being very interested in Tarot phase. I really like the idea of collecting Tarot decks and such, and I like the idea of Tarot. However, although I might get a few decks, I'm probably not going to end up with a lot of decks. I might also do a little bit with a deck. However, I'm not that literate in the symbolism of the images. Yes, I'm sorry to admit that.
Love the video, in the last few months, I've been getting into the Rider Waite deck, and as a love for symbolism, I bought the deck called Universal Waite. , somebody on TH-cam, showed a good reason why to to have them, and as symbols are important to me, I could see why. The person showed the Death card , with the guy under the horse, and straight away, i could see it was a must for these cards. And yes it's good to have other decks , which can give more light on the Tarot, which is a great help.
Collecting is fun. I collected W.I.T.C.H. comics for kids, I stopped before one year. :) Not so good is, when it starts to be an obsession. I have 5 tarot decs and 6 oracle decs for use.
I did 'fall' into collecting lol. I tried not to purchase decks I wouldn't use but it ended up that way. I love the pictures and the different energies of the decks that I was called to buy, but then I found the psychic tarot and that is 'my' deck, I don't really work with the others anymore even though I intended to when I bought them. I hope that I do someday but until I feel like it, I'm just happy with the psychic tarot. :)
I accumulated 30 tarot and oracle decks over the summer :/ (I had a lot of catching up to do) and I always feel embarrassed to post pictures or admit how big my collection has become because people will think I am materialistic or that I don't appreciate them, but I do use and deeply respect all of them. And as an artist, witch and tarot fanatic I can't think of a better way to spend extra money when I have it :) well, crystals can be equally rewarding on a spiritual level, or books ;) I've begun using one deck a week so I can spend one on one quality time with each deck since I accumulated so many so fast but I do absolutely love every single one. I plan to create my own deck too, so this is another reason I feel like I get so much out of having a vast variety.
I loved the video. I am curious about your tarot journaling. I can't seem to find any videos regarding the subject. It sounds like a perfect way to get acquainted with a deck.
I loved this Kelly-Ann! I started out years ago thinking I was gonna find the perfect tarot deck and then I would only own and work with that one... Well umm that didn't work out! ;) I have a collection of around 20 decks, and I am looking for new owners to about 5 of them, and I have 5 on my wishlist. So it's a small collection, but to some people it might seem big. I just really feel like each deck gives me something unique when working with it. It's kind of like having a couple of friends, yeah one friend would do, but I enjoy that my friends have unique personalities and we have different inside jokes etc... ;) I guess I just like variety. There are some decks I absolutely adored 10 years ago when I was 17, and I would never get rid of them (like the Robin Wood), but i have "outgrown" those decks and they no longer serve me on my journey. But the memories I have with them make them so special to me. PS. I ordered one of your readings on sale... Looking forward to it so much! ;)
I like the idea of independent decks, but I never feel the pull to use them, so much as to hang up in a similar way that you would with a crystal grid. I'm far too new in my refreshed study to use beyond the rider Waite deck/Morgan Greer deck.
I really like what you said about collecting and how people kind of push a minimalist view point. I see so many people telling pagans/heathens/witches/ what have you that they have to much stuff and that in can hurt their spiritual growth or something like that. I've also seen other youtubers talk about how all pagans/whatever should be following a minimalist like or just make a general statement that all pagans/whatever do follow a minimalist life. I don't think that it's right, I don't think how much stuff a person has should matter. I practise druidry and I've looked a lot into the studies of the ADF and OBOD, and they encourage the collecting of stuff. I mean not to a point of obsessive hoarding, but they make some really good points and explain that we live in the physical realm and we should enjoy physical things while we can.
Plague Doctor I think that it's interesting how some attitudes in paganism seem to have been mixed up with Eastern asceticism and, at the same time, somehow also include old school Christian Puritanism. I mean, fair enough if that floats one's particular boat, but insistently preaching that stuff to other pagans seems odd to me. Paganism doesn't dismiss or denigrate the earthly realm.. If someone finds a lack of material objects to be an important part of their practice that's one thing, but judging *other* pagans and tearing them down for appreciating material objects is, in my view, indicative of the fact that the person who is supposedly anti-materialism isn't really that happy with their own path. Those who are truly happy with the way their spiritual journey is going don't have the inclination to keep judging other people's spiritual journeys as somehow less valid.. Thanks so much for your comment. Minimalism is coolio but it's not a prerequisite in paganism and I don't understand why there is a prevailing attitude amongst some that pagans who like 'stuff' are somehow breaking a sacred code. You might enjoy Thorn's video on this, by the way: th-cam.com/video/gTtWb3WIp3Y/w-d-xo.html
Great video! I`ve about 40 tarot and oracle decks at the moment, and even though I haven`t used all of them yet, I only buy decks that I really want to work with :) After watching your fab videos I`ve now started a tarot/oracle journal.
And suddenly my collection have reached 120+ decks! How the hell did that happen? I seriously have to stop, but there`s so many beautiful and interesting decks out there. Luckily I only have 15 decks left on my wishlist. Some of them are not published yet, and some are limited editions that I know I`ll never purchase, so I`m crossing my fingers that my collection will grow very very slowly from now on :)
I am an oddball on this! I have about 40ish decks, I really ask the deck if it wants me before I get it, or I wait until the deck is in my conscious awareness as if to say, "You will have to buy me!". I am also one who have a few apps as well, saves me money and I get to have the deck! Would I have a deck I would still have without having connected with it? honestly I would answer no. If that makes me a minimalist, then so be it! I have two decks which is just there, as they are of the Marseille system and I can't read with them for whatever reason! *sobs* I have had to gift a number of decks as they failed to connect with me. My oracle collection dwarfs my tarot collection a little. But would I consider myself a member of the "Collector police" No! I do watch collection videos to see the variety out there, and there seems to be a "common Core" of decks. I do have to thank you for the enabling of the amazing Dame Darcy Mermaid Tarot though, one of those decks that smacked me in the face with a wet fish moment! I have the Shadowscapes app to look at the artwork as with the tarot of the Vampyre. It's about £3 / 4 for an app and voila.
Have you or can you use Tarot for Spiritual Life Coaching Others, I have looked for a blog which you may have have done on this but cannot find it. I am very impressed with your attitude toward Tarot and some of your points you have made which I have been feeling for years but being a dyslexic I have had trouble putting these thoughts into words or a film. I find your way of talking and explaining very easy to understand so I am hooked on you. If you can help with the Life Coaching and Tarot Id be grateful .x
I finally found time to watch this video and suddenly I don't feel guilty anymore for buying these beautiful decks I fall in love with but not actually using most of them for readings.. I do plan to explore their imagery and symbolism in the future but for now I just love buying and collecting them and I'm really picky about the decks I want to own. :) So far the only deck on my list that eludes me is the Mermaid Tarot by Dame Darcy because apparently the US dollar went up against my currency early this year and the price of the deck also went up so it's a bit too much for my budget right now :(( But I still hope to buy it in the future. (If anyone in Europe is interested in selling it, I'm listening!) Thank you so much for making this video, I really enjoyed it!
Greetings! Love your channel, you mentioned that you have re-formatted or changed up your out dated filing system (journalism) to better fit how you organize and associate various decks with each other.....I thought you mentioned a link to share for those who wanted to see it.......If you have it on line could you please provide the link, I'm extremely interested in new ideas and would love to see how you have organized so far....Blessings:)
michele braun Hi :) No, I meant that I will be showing it in a video at some point. I did show my old journal in a video but only the cover and maybe a couple of pages. I realised that I had a need for something much more 'reference' and dynamic than an ordinary notebook. I will probably share it at some point towards the end of the summer when it's a little more fleshed out and hopefully it will offer inspiration to those who need some. x
Hi Kelly-Ann! I was wondering, are you familiar with the Soulcards 1 Cards oracle deck by Deborah Koff? I've recently found them and am thinking of getting them. Wanted to see your take on them. Thanks!
OMG!!! I am smiling so much - I REalLY want a nose piercing!!! Exactly the same on the side. I heard of a vegan tattoo and piercing studio in London I was thinking of going to. The good thing is that if you take it out its unnoticed. I should just go for it :) love the tarot content too! :) xxx hehe
I was going to send you a message saying it's been so long since you made a video... until I got on here and realized you just made one a week ago! Hmmmm.... small addiction on my part lol :)
Hi there! This comment really doesn't have much to do with this video, but I wanted to ask you about how you feel about the thoth deck. I've been a long time follower of your videos and I think they are brilliant! That being said, I did go through and make sure you hadn't made a previous video on the thoth deck because I didn't want to ask you any redundant questions about things you've already expressed opinions about. I did see that you own the Thoth deck, but I also know via your videos that the RWS deck is your first love. I was just curious how you get on with the Thoth tarot and how you feel about it. It seems to me that in the general tarot community (and by no means am I trying to put anyone in a box with this next statement) there are two schools of thought. Thoth or RWS, much like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Do you have any opinions or further insight on this? Blessed be and thank you for making such insightful and amazing videos!
Thatscd Thanks for your question. I am working on studies in astrology and kabbalah. I quickly realised after reading about half of DuQuette's book about the deck that I needed much more of a grounding in those two subjects first! So, apologies, I can't really offer my opinion on working with it other than to say that I am so eager to work with it that I am looking in to astrology which I never really had much interest in before.. So, it's definitely fascinating to me and I am looking forward to mastering it!
Yay another rosary collector. I collect tarot card decks because I love their art, symbolism, and - at times - their biographical nature. A good blog to check out written by a collector and a practitioner: mycuriouscabinet.wordpress.com/

Oh, I definitely love to see how you organise your tarot notes and things!
Maggie Kneen's Old English Tarot Deck is quite lovely too!
Love your passion...getting so excited about handling my decks as I watch this. It's a warm feeling swelling in my chest! Much love!

Oh I meant to say, Thankyou for posting this. It's made me feel more willing to share my crazy passion for collecting and using so many decks.

xx
Your definition of collecting is spot on! I agree Owlmoon is an amazing reviewer. Your videos are so interesting X
+Rick Adams Thank you :)

Your channel was recommended to me by a friend this morning ~ this is the first video I've watched, and I love you already :)
I, too, collect tarot and oracle cards (I think I have 41 decks...?), and love each one for its own unique reason. I use them all regularly ♥
It was lovely to connect with your energy, and I look forward to watching more of your videos!
Bright blessings,
Kathaleen ♥
I absolutely love this video , Thank you for posting it!! Lots of love from someone who collects Tarot cards and Tarantulas.
It's pagans in the pub with Kelly-Ann again! Yay! One day I will have a beer "with" you, haha. :)
I used to be a minimalist, like you, I recognised the value in having a variety of decks to add more layers onto one's tarot knowledge.
You should check out the Prisma Visions Tarot. Its my third deck but immediately became my go to its just breath taking!
Looking forward to it so much! ;)
Thank you for this, you understand 🙌🏼🥰🤗❤️❤️
Ive not been using Tarot cards long but I already want to add decks Ive seen to my collection and the same way with books, so yes I get it :-)
I like the idea of independent decks, but I never feel the pull to use them, so much as to hang up in a similar way that you would with a crystal grid.
Oh my I just bought my first deck. I got the Shadow Scape one I just was so drawn to it.
Great video! I`ve about 40 tarot and oracle decks at the moment, and even though I haven`t used all of them yet, I only buy decks that I really want to work with :)
After watching your fab videos I`ve now started a tarot/oracle journal.
I love collecting too :) I say let the "Collector Police" come get me!! hahaha!!!!
***** :) I'm so pleased to be able to inspire you in that way.
*sobs*
I have had to gift a number of decks as they failed to connect with me.
So far the only deck on my list that eludes me is the Mermaid Tarot by Dame Darcy because apparently the US dollar went up against my currency early this year and the price of the deck also went up so it's a bit too much for my budget right now :(( But I still hope to buy it in the future. (If anyone in Europe is interested in selling it, I'm listening!)
Thank you so much for making this video, I really enjoyed it!
I will probably share it at some point towards the end of the summer when it's a little more fleshed out and hopefully it will offer inspiration to those who need some. x
The Four Queens you can bet 'll be waiting to see it:) I'm starting a new format myself.....Thanks for getting back to me:)
Omg I have the men's version of your tshirt. 😘😎
I feel the same as you!
Wow, talk about collective unconscious tapping! I was thinking of making a video on this exact topic soon! Xo :-)
Really enjoyed the Tarot ramble, cheers ;-)
Hi Kelly-Ann! I was wondering, are you familiar with the Soulcards 1 Cards oracle deck by Deborah Koff? I've recently found them and am thinking of getting them. Wanted to see your take on them. Thanks!
OMG!!! I am smiling so much - I REalLY want a nose piercing!!! Exactly the same on the side. I heard of a vegan tattoo and piercing studio in London I was thinking of going to. The good thing is that if you take it out its unnoticed. I should just go for it :) love the tarot content too! :) xxx hehe
I have a question..do you keep the cards in the box or do you put them in cloth? I save the boxes...but I store them in bags...
i purchase tarot decks that call to me, but i dont use them only when i am troubled by others' feelings
Thoughts on Oliver Hibert's tarot?
I was going to send you a message saying it's been so long since you made a video... until I got on here and realized you just made one a week ago! Hmmmm.... small addiction on my part lol :)
I hope you would want to make a Tarot Deck.
Amen sista
Pough The Shoe Guy..I Love you.And Of couse my Tarot cards. Keep teaching..Colors will be come.On leather goods.Beautiful Women....??
Such a smart girl
i am just wondering who is that on your shirt, i wanting to say Elizabeth Taylor??
materialistic? talk to a (amateur or pro) woodcarver about their tools.💐
