Finally just before 3 hours ago I bought the Excellente.....(1158 euros, 1282 $) Worth any penny!!!!!... Greetings from the country of the founder of Epiphone, Greece!!!!
I feel like it should be known how good this guys pick control and touch is. Glad to hear someone really play man. Sounds so good but it wouldn’t sound that good without you. Hell yea man
Ahhhhhh. That beautiful nasally twangy resonator tone that I just adore. Epiphone acoustics always have a knack for hitting that sound spot on. Beautiful guitar. So happy about the waffle back style tuners as well!!!
Thank you for not talking. Drives me crazy when these videos are used just to get attention. 'Just play the dang thing', is what I always think when they are talking. I love the guitar, and, as well, your playing. Very sensitive, and no Neanderthalitus, whatsoever!
I think the difference between my Masterbuilt and a production run Martin are only very minimal and I own both. Martin, Fender and Gibson just too proud....
Did you play the frontier? I'm saving up for either one of these guitars or the frontier, I'm really not sure which way to go yet. Good thing it will be a while before I have to choose lol.
I’m torn between the j200 and frontier. I have an Alvarez aj80ce, with solid maple back and sides and Sitka top. It was the best sounding guitar that I owned. But the frets are very soft metal and the bridge is coming off. I think I try to find a luthier and get it back in shape, if get well enough. The j200 has the same wood as my Alvarez. Awesome playing man! Thanks for the video. On your next reviews, it would be nice to know what the action is, 12th fret or so. Nobody covers that
Fantastic guitar, just saw it yesterday in our guitar Store by chance... I‘m not an Epiphone fan...never was... But this guitar is a G.....-Killer, the audio does not always reflect the warm, full sound. And it is heavy in comparrison...it feels much more like a Gibson than Epiphone. Well, I dont like the headstock/Inlay Design, and it comes without any gigbag or case. String tension, fretboard and Intonation are just Great...
Masterbuilts are just a whole different animal. Exceptional build quality but I think it is still lesser quality woods which makes it still a bit 'missing' on depth of sound quality. Do it side by side with higher end and you instantly recognize it.
@@EmptyMirrorMindful You dont know what you are talking about and your comments are obviously from someone who hasnt played one of these guitars because to say that they are made from lesser quality wood is talking utter horseshit and one of the worse cases of of misinformation I've ever read on TH-cam.
@@Edward1312 It is all opinion when it comes to sound and preference, listen to them yourself. And spare me about the ‘worst example of misinformation on youtube’ comment. I have in fact played them. I actually love masterbuilt guitars from a build quality perspective. Unfortunately the ones I have demo’d just werent impressing me from a tonal perspective and I have had some exceptional instruments. Was I expecting them to compete with a $3500 custom Martin I have owned. Of course not. Maybe those just happened to be a few outliers, no idea. But that was my personal experience and opinion. I actually really wanted to buy one because of past experience with Masterbuilt Epis, but at the time, those came from Japan. I have no allegiance to any brand or hidden agenda. The assumption on my part contributable to the wood is simply based on listening. As they are all built to pretty good specs these days, what else would it be? Again, just my opinion but I’m certainly not a master luthier. Lighten up dude, i have no vendetta against Epiphone, actually exactly the opposite. My current is a yamaha LL16D. There is an exceptional sounding instrument for the price. At least my single copy was.
Thanks for the demo. I would really love to hear it again in a few months, though, without the new string zing and the reverb. It's hard to judge the tone with those things going on.
Hi! Can someone tell me the name of the song he plays in the demos but around 2:24 please! Sounds so beautiful and would like to learn it. Thank you in advance 🙏🏻
One year later it is still $899 What a great value, but never mind that, this guitar is the equal of many Taylors and Martins that are twice the price.
It's made that way so it can be seen by an auditorium audience. A lot of old time acoustics had oversized enhancements like that. Think of the Grand Ole Opry days.
@@stathkon The neck is great and the guitar looks and plays like it's very expensive. The workmanship is very professional and I wouldn't change a thing the only negative is the weight of the neck with it being solid maple with an ebony fretboard it is what it is.
@@stathkon To be honest I have not plugged it in I mic my acoustic guitars. This is supposed to be a very heavy guitar like 9lbs! I have the Recording King Rd328, the neck is very slim, problems with string buzz on mine but maybe that will change with medium strings on it. Haven't played this one but sounds fuller

@Balex I know it sounds like there's an amount of reverb applied but that really is just the guitar (and the room as D R said above). As the last chord rings out the end of the second piece the chair creaks at 1:59 and that sounds much dryer compared to the guitar.
The acoustic tone of this guitar is good, not great, but good. The pickup is awful. Since nobody plays acoustically except for practicing in their bedroom, a change of pickup should be budgeted. So, add $400.00 or more with installation.

Great demo, great Epiphone, gotta get me one...
The Excellente is the best ever “modern era” Epiphone acoustic.
Great playing and demo ❤️
Need so many more videos like this. I'll simply state the obvious.

I'm getting mine in April too from guitar center they're on back order
