  • Today, Ian is in the bay testing the all-new Apex Ai200 Irons. These hollow-body designs are designed to blend performance and precision in a player’s distance iron.
    Built to capitalize on consistent Ball Speed, Spin, and Dispersion. But does the Apex Ai200 achieve this incredible consistency through the Ai Smart Face?

    Pick your clubs, pick your shaft and pick your ball. I play a mixed set of Apex Pro’s and TCB’s with Aerotech shafts and either a ProV1 or TP5. I will play the “X” balls depending on wind. I just purchased the Apex Ai200’s. So far I like them.

    They look nice but definitely the better player would like the Apex Pro series more. The low handicap consumers want the updated TCB’s.

    My trusty blades keep getting better and better. You get what you earn and know what you get with pure, honest feedback. Some of the new irons being released don’t seem to be too convincing. Great point about the lack of offset in long irons and the short irons having too much. Should definitely be reversed. Great analysis and I wonder which company will be first to get that done. Thanks again, Lads.

      @@patrickhockey615 Yes and that's been Titleist/Vokey's justification for not forging their wedges. Less relevant on the clubs that have less loft though & probably irrelevant unless you're pounding hundreds of range rocks a day. I'd definitely check out the robot testing that Cool Clubs did this week on ai200 and compare it to their robot testing on Apex 21 (non pro). The distance dispersion (long and short, aka north south) does not look too great on these new ai200 and ai300 irons compared to the Apex 21 non pro model irons. The new ai200 and ai300 definitely go further than Apex 21 since the new irons are hollow body designs, but that may not be want you want.

      I think the Apex 21 (non pro) are difficult to beat when it comes to consistency of distance when hit from various parts of the face (left, center, right and high, low). If you have seen the robot testing that Cool Clubs did on their channel and website, no other clubs are as consistent as the Apex 21 other than Miura blades. The new Apex definitely go further, but they are very different hollow body design than the Apex 21.

    Disappointing clubs. They might have ruined the Apex club. Robot test (from another clubfitter chain) showed Apex 21 was the tightest dispersion both front to back and side to side. Now it’s among one of the worst north/south on the market. Low contact is horror. Congrats to all involved!

    • @TonyRotella
      @TonyRotella 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      The Cool Clubs CEO specifically noted in that video that those results were probably due to them overlaying the pattern too low on the face based on the extra leading edge camber these irons have, and that perhaps it was misleading.

    • @bernard0camp0s
      @bernard0camp0s 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@TonyRotella i didn't catch that. but i've been seeing hollow body irons getting increasingly bad dispersion charts in those cool clubs video, so i think the apex is just the latest in the trend. unfortunately, the apex was the latest hope i had for a more forgiving iron that doesn't have crap dispersion, and they've gone and ruined it.

    • @NineTo5Golf
      @NineTo5Golf 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      As someone who got to test these outdoors on an actual course with no numbers to speak of, I can attest that the dispersion I experienced on course was pretty tight. These have a little more offset than my gamers, and the shafts weren’t my flavor, but I was getting a pretty consistent 4-5 yard draw with every strike. I will say, players distance irons like these (not just Callaway) seem to be VERY picky with ball choice. A spinnier ball that can bring flight down a touch (Tour B XS, ProV1X, Srixon XV) seems like it would complement the tech and “hotness” of these irons well to provide some control. Too low spinning of a ball, and it’s Nukesville.
