    Get yourself a set of feeler gauges, grind off the rivit and use them for thin shims to fine tune your tool height.

      this is a good idea as well, I'm sure Harbor Freight has some for next to nothing. Another good use for HF tools.

    Hi there, definitely a better vernier callipers keep them. When you sharpen the blue lathe tools you need to sharpen them on a carbide grinding wheel. Any questions just ask. Keep up with the learning

      I'm finding this out. I have some older grinding wheels and those carbide tools really chew through the wheels, but its working.

    That one grub screw you showed at the end angles the lead screw nut to remove backlash.

      I'm going to look at this again today, I will reach out to you if I have any questions. Question, Does it take out the backlash when the split nut is in its locked position or unlocked? Thanks

      I've been wanting to make something better than that the allen wrench I've been using. I will check out Ades. Thanks for the tip

    Cut up a beer or soda can for thin shims.

      That's a good idea, Appreciate you tossing this out there. So many have ideas to share that I wish I would have thought of. :-) but that's what's great about this. Ideas to help others.
