Discussion on the current political and economic scenario:People took to streets against inflated electricity bills and heavy taxes in parts of the country on Sunday.During the demonstrations, people vehemently chanted slogans against the government, holding them accountable for the exorbitant power bills.
Protests were held in Multan, Faisalabad, Nowshera, Bahawalpur, Sadiqabad, Hujra Shah Muqeem, Okara, Kasur, Malakand and other areas of the country.
Amid sloganeering, the agitaters demanded the government to withdraw the inflated bills and reduce the electricity taxes.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Sunday sought more time to decide on exorbitant electricity bills, triggering massive protest across the country.
According to a statement issued by Prime Minister Office after the emergency meeting held under the chairmanship of PM Kakar, it was decided that no step would be taken in haste which would harm the country.
The PM directed the authorities to take “concrete steps” for a reduction in inflated electricity bills and present the plan to him within the next 48 hours.
The sources said that a decision could not be made today to provide immediate relief to the public from the electricity bills, and there will be another session tomorrow regarding electricity rates and bills.
The sources informed that the caretaker prime minister sought reports and recommendations to provide relief to the public.

Ayaz sb, you have rightly said what has started in the country is just the START. Police and intelligence agencies have just one job, crack down on those who are flying balloons, capture the gas tanks of poor balloon vendors, make criminal cases. Where from you will bring the police to arrest the protesters against excessive energy bills. The protests have spread throughout Pakistan, the country will further slide into poverty, anarchy and economic chaos. If someone is really serious to save Pakistan, the establishment should retreat and hand over the govt. to elected representatives. Please do not further deteriorate this existential crisis, leave behind personal grudge and biases and save the country.

Sir, 3/4 of Sind, 4/5 of Baluchistan, the entire KPK tribal areas are using heavy amount of electricity but not paying any bill. This shameless govt can round up thousands of PTI workers and prosecutes them with complete impunity, but can't collect electricity bill from the influential defaulters.
The heavy amount of electricity theft is not possible without the connivance of the WAPDA staff. But they are untouchable in this country.
The entire losses are being recovered from Northern and Central Punjab hence the skyrocketing bills.

But your country has distribution capacity is
not at par with the capacity of generation capacity then question is why the generation units were allowed when you have not distribution capacity at par with generation capacity .
