The family and soldiers behind the windows are a brilliant touch. How they move in response to how close Gleb is to repeating the past really drives the scene home.

As a lover of musicals, this show tugs at all of my heartstrings and makes me cry almost every time I watch it. As a historian and lover of early Soviet history this show angers me to no end. Like it’s just glammed up propaganda but fuck is it good propaganda
