    An extreme conservative and extreme liberal get married...in 2016.
    How could they not find out about each other's political affiliations until then?

      That is why you don't get married after three months of dating. In three months there is not enough time to learn everything about the other person🙄.

    This why I'm so glad my husband and I were together for 5 years before we married. We were always upfront about our wants and needs for both the present and future. Right before we got married. I asked him to be 100% sure that marriage was what he wanted bc if he had even one tiny worry we shouldn't get married. He said "Well you are a bit gassy but I think I can deal with that" lol
    God I love that man

    • @informationyes
      @informationyes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yeah basically people need to really get to know this person beyond doubt to get married and that usually takes time, sadly too many people get married quickly often still in the romance person which is the worst time to make such a judgment

    • @piratekit3941
      @piratekit3941 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good for you! Being upfront about your wants/needs would prevent a lot of people from getting married who shouldn't. These are discussions that don't happen in a few months!
      My sis and her ex seemed pretty solid except for one (HUGE) aspect, she wanted kids and he was rather neutral and made her agree no kids for the first few years of their marriage. So time passed and they had a kid. Suddenly he was no longer neutral, he didn't want kids, and didn't even do much with his son's care, and couple's therapy failed. Honestly, she should have gotten a divorce right then, rather than try multiple therapy attempts. You can't therapy someone into changing their mind about their wants.

    I was raised in a cult environment. Dad was our leader and had an odd way of interpreting the rules for himself versus us.
    Girlfriend lived with a physically abusive father. We dated for about a year-and-a-half and decided marriage was the best solution to both our problems.
    Turns out a religiously brainwashed young man and a young woman who learned that family communication was generally done at the top of her lungs don’t make a good partnership.
    Her mom was very devout but taught her to lie to the priest. That lesson carried beyond confession of sins. Found out way too late that she wasn’t totally honest with me while we were dating and too many unsavory details began to emerge after the honeymoon. I’m still battling my cult-fostered belief system, but there was really just no way it was going to work. I believed in honesty and she seemed to believe everything was okay if you don’t get caught.
    Edit. I regretted never asking her dad for permission to marry his daughter, because he probably would have refused. Dammit.

      @@TheComemnter i mean, what it sounds like with what little info we have, it very well could be. a cult can be any size, even less than 5 people, and any religious brainwashing usually is the start of or just straight up is a cult.

    My cousin just told me about her husband's colleague, a young woman. The first time I've heard about her was about 4 years ago, that she was engaged to be married that year. She was living in a different town for work, so it was a long distance relationship for the duration of the engagement. Apparently, the fiance was having several affairs during the engagement, and the girl found out about it just days before the wedding. They went on with the wedding, but she asked for annulment days after. She told my cousin, they didn't consummate the marriage.

    “ I can’t imagine being the driver in a crash that kills your best friend.” THIS is why I always drive the point home of wearing seatbelts. I don’t care who you think you are, if you’re in my car, you’re wearing a seatbelt. I’ve seen what happens with them, and what happens without them. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I killed somebody. And my passion is driving. So I’m going to try and keep that risk is low as possible, and it starts with seatbelts.

    I've never had a desire to get married. My friends were all getting married young, most are now divorced and either on 2nd marriages or just stayed single after the 1st. I was too independent to settle, but then again I really couldn't stand a guy after the 2 year mark with him. After 2 years they seem to change, or maybe I was the one that changed, since I kept going forward and bettering myself. They got comfortable with routine, I did NOT. Been proposed to 4 times in my life and I ran the opposite direction as fast as possible. I'm now 58 and in a 9 year commonlaw relationship. It works because I barely see him. ;) He lives at the other end of the house. works for me. lol
