Maybe 30 years ago when artists were a lot more lyrical in general it would be a fair cut. But with artists nowadays relying so much on good beats because their lyrics are hot garbage, no. They really need to get a bigger general cut. But producers nowadays are also starting to do different businesses. Metro Boomin for example has done a few collab albums in 2017 where he played a major role in the music. I am very sure his cut was a lot bigger than 3% (also because metro boomin has his own label). And other producers are also releasing singles with rapper features on it as their own single, I also assume that their cut is a lot bigger than 3%. If the trend keeps going, producers will be recognized a lot more and labels won’t really be able to do their shady businesses anymore if the producer is the main part of the music. Lastly I think the trend with every rapper having their own label will also go over to producers because of the payment issues. The future ain’t that dark for us producers as we’re also beginning to get more attention over the past few years.
Don't wanna sound like a buzzkill but your not entirely correct with this. You need to understand that there are both record side income and publishing income. The 3% your referring to is usually called points, these are dealt within the royalties received from the record side of a song, so album sales, streams per cost etc. The publishing side include income generated from royalties gained from radio play, streams etc. Within publishing splits the producers generally get 50% within the splits. Whatever is generated from radio royalties the producer will recieve 50% and if you are a published producer your publisher will take a percentage of that depending on the deal you sign with them. You normally get your publishing royalties statements from ASCAP or BMI. Theres a lot more money involved and the producer would have got a lot more for a hit song than you stated.
But don't producers get to look over contracts that states how much they will be getting? You can't put the entire blame on the corporations. PRoducers always have the choice to walk away from an offer

You're strictly coming from a streaming perspective, but you failed to discuss radio spins, mechanical and sync royalties.... major fail. You really can't speak on this topic unless you've had a hit song and you receive publishing checks. Don't deceive producers with this misinformation. Producers are entitled to 50% of the publishing and writing share of a record, not 3%. This video is ludicrous. There is NO way to predict how much a hit song will generate because you cannot see the future! You don't know what will happen with that song in 5-10 or even 20 years after you write it. Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" is the perfect example. Knock it off with the sad music and the sympathy BS...producers are out here eating well. Remember, Even if you read your contract, have a lawyer, ask for a better deal... it doesn’t mean the label will agree with what you want. They have the power as most producers won’t risk losing the placement and the advance money.

Producers are the big boss in the studio that oversee supervison of the record that hires Beat Makers, Writers, Engineers and Musicans to work for them. Timbo, Pharell, Scott Storch and Dre are Real Producers as they are both Songwriters that makes beats and Record Producers that direct and oversee the vision of the record. They are credited twice in production credits for both roles as "Writer" and "Producer". Producer's produce entire completed songs with vocal production, Arrangement and engineering etc known as the MASTER RECORDING. Beat Makers just make beats for sell to an Artist known as the instrumental composition that have no involvement of overseeing production and recording nor do they make entire songs. as a person that makes beats, producers don’t get the recognition that they deserve as artists do (rappers / singers) but we’re starting to get shine though, a lot of popular songs are just catchy because the instrumental but still I’m not gonna let this stop me from making beats and such cause it started as a hobby, now I kinda do it as a passion.

This is mainly because people confuse a beat maker with a producer. Quincy Jones is a producer, Diddy, Kanye, and Rick Reuben are producers. A person selling or leasing beats online or in person and selling kits and that's it is a "beat maker"... big difference. You Don't see Quincy and Rick or Diddy (even Dame Dash produced) tripping about money do you? They are the song! Diddy is Juicy, Rick is 99 Problems, Quincy and Michael (Mike self produced) are "Thriller". They didn't just make the beat... they contoured and directed the entire song.

ONLY WRITERS GET PUBLISHING DEALS. Record Producer's and Engineer's get directly hired by the Record company that requires to physically work in a Recording Studio. Scott Storch was credited as Writer for Still Dre as the Co-Writer of the beat. A Record Producer is like a "Film Director" that works directly with the vocalist and Engineer in the studio that oversees production and recording of the Master Recording. You should NEVER give up your copyrights for your beat to an Artist. It also irritates me when all these beat makers keep calling themselves "Producer's" or claimed that they "produced" for a big name major artist when in reality they aint. Before I became a Producer, I've made many mistakes in the past as I've been burned by many artist selling beats and not getting fully paid for them. Beat Makers need to learn how to start working directly with the artist in the studio as Scott Storch said you don't want to be just a track maker if you're going call yourself a Producer on a track. He said you probably ain't gonna get paid as people would try to use the Beat as long as they can which is why he don't send beats out to people since he's a Real Producer. *"In terms of working with the artist or vocalist, you know its important to come back and stay through with that, if you're going to call yourself a producer on a track. I only slightly agree with you, Zaytoven has worked with splice so they have his kits and or sounds for sale and he’s a PRODUCER.in my opinion a producer is someone who makes the beat,engineers the beat, and can mix vocals for the artist while in the studio with the artist.

Many Grammy Award Winning Audio Engineers are dual role Producer/Engineers esp since the two roles are heavily involved in a Recording Studio environment that work along side each other. I would be furious for only 3%. I mean some people can make a beat in less than 5 mins and think nothing of it, but for the other ones who put time and effort into perfecting the beat should get ATLEAST 40%.

Think about this, daddy yankee got 3-4 million for despacito, most times the producers get more then the artist, that’s after the label gets its cut, so imagine what some producers can make with the right contracts and terms

Additionally it is worth noting that producers charge a “fee”. For example, pop producer Jack Antonoff charges about 20,000 per song. In addition to this, he gets his 3 points (potentially more) as well as songwriting royalties, as he is usually listed as a songwriter.

Beat Makers are NOT Producers. Producers are managment directing roles in the studio, they don't even make beats. They are directors that over see recording sessions. Beat Makers are Songwriters and Programmers.
Mostly its 50/50 on a Song(you and the Artist) Two Ways: you can publish and collect the royalties by yourself thru Ascap and Harry Fox(Performance/mechanical) TH-cam Networks(Digital and Mostly 25-15% Fee) and Soundexchange.(Digital/satellite) so you would almost get your 50%(- some small fee's) or you sign with a publishing company but they will take a Fee(20%) from your 50%, but i'm not sure if they maybe collect some more royalties and they help you with all the registration process which can be stressful. So at the end it's up to you how you handle your splits etc. Correct me if i'm Wrong!
Just to quickly throw out. You have the math all wrong on the 100m views @ $3 CPM. CPM is not $3 per 1,000 views. It’s 1,000 monetized views. I have the same CPM, and for a video around he length of a song. I would make around $75,000 from 100m views. Other than that good vid!

The only reason why Pharrell Williams, Bryan-Micheal Cox, Rodney Jerkins, Timbaland or Scott Storch gets those is because they are both Songwriters and Record Producers that wears two different hats. Most Hip Hop Producers started out as Beat Makers before taking over the acting role as a Record Producer. Beat Makers are the same thing as Songwriters and Composers while Record Producers are managment directing roles that direct and oversee recording sessions, working directly with the artist in the studio. Record Producers get PPD or SRLP royalites which is 3% or 4%. Beat Makers that just make beats and thats it would not get these types of Royalites since they are NOT Producers. So unless you are wearing both hats as a Beat Maker and a Record Producer, is the only way you would get both royalites or one of the the other. PRODUCER=Director SONGWRITER=Beat Maker
Did you just make all that up as you went along? You almost had it right but you were a little off. A "beat maker" is a producer and a producer is a songwriter/composer. Whoever creates the music behind the lyrics, is the producer. A songwriter and a producer means the same thing, on a split sheet. A producer is also considered a "composer". There is no such thing as a "beat maker", when it comes to getting paid. Only record labels, performers, publishers, songwriters/composers (producers), receive music royalties. The main difference between a composer and a songwriter is that, the composer is entitled to 50% of the record. But like I said, a composer is a "songwriter". There is no Producer = DIrector. "Directors" don't get music royalties. Directors are for music videos.

Here's my input on the difference between a Producer Vs a Beat Maker. I started making beats in 2004 before i took over the acting role as a Record Producer in 2008 working with my very first artist one on one in the studio. Record Producers are similar to a Film Director that directs and oversees recording sessions. That's what I mean as "Director" like the Quincy Jones. As a Real Producer, I never send beats off to people and then call yourself a Producer. I always work directly with the artist and the audio engineer in the studio, giving my feedback and input through out the entire recording process. I coach the artist and give them advice to get the best vocal performance out of them. I tell them how I want them to sing or rap a certain way. If I'm not feeling it, I make them do another take until its right. I also guide and direct the engineer how i want the mix to sound. I'm also involved in vocal and song arrangement etc. That's what a Producer does oversees the whole thing from start to finish as they are the big boss. Making beats doesn't make you a producer, it makes you just a track maker if that's all you do. As Timbo said in one of his interviews, "I don’t think we have producers anymore, I think we have great programmers" as hes referring to this current generation of hip-hop producers that are nothing more than programmers or beat makers. I'm also a registered ASCAP Member registered as a Songwriter and Composer for my Mechanical/Peformance royalties for beats. Beat Making falls under the Songwriting umbrella as its part of the Songwriting Pre-Production process. I absolutely agree with your research and numbers here, but I think you got something a little bit wrong here. Murda and Cubeatz are Not (only) the producers of the Song, they are also the songwriters which means they get a lot more money. The 3 points estimate is about right for a Music producer. A songwriter can even earn up to 50% of performance/mechanical royalties for example if he’s the lyricist + beatmaker/composer. And you have to take in mind they get a big advance also. Songwriters usually are signed to big publishers which take about 50% of all their earnings. Last but not least I really like the way you made this video, it looks very professional.
Well Murda and them aren't really real Producer's. They are just Programmers as they don't have the training to know how to direct and control the recording sessions. A real Producer collaborates with the Vocalist and Engineer in the studio that has input on the song. They help the Artist realize their vision. Murda does nothing in the studio as he just sits around. He said in an interview that he was off partying in another room while the Artist was in a recording session. The Engineer was basically wearing the Producer's hat.
A writer always gets the most money from a song. That’s why Lennon, Cobain, Tupac, earned immense amounts when they was alive. Earned even more After death. My advice, get a writing credit on any song your working on! A decent, respectable artist, should let you add a few words or lyrics to the song. That’s adding more %%% to your overall revenue from the song.

Real Record Producers like myself get what is called "Producer Points" or simply Producer royalities. That 3% of what the video refference is for record sales or 20% of Artist Royalites. Maybe 30 years ago when artists were a lot more lyrical in general it would be a fair cut. But with artists nowadays relying so much on good beats because their lyrics are hot garbage, no. They really need to get a bigger general cut.
But producers nowadays are also starting to do different businesses. Metro Boomin for example has done a few collab albums in 2017 where he played a major role in the music. I am very sure his cut was a lot bigger than 3% (also because metro boomin has his own label). And other producers are also releasing singles with rapper features on it as their own single, I also assume that their cut is a lot bigger than 3%.
If the trend keeps going, producers will be recognized a lot more and labels won’t really be able to do their shady businesses anymore if the producer is the main part of the music.
Lastly I think the trend with every rapper having their own label will also go over to producers because of the payment issues. The future ain’t that dark for us producers as we’re also beginning to get more attention over the past few years.

Don't wanna sound like a buzzkill but your not entirely correct with this. You need to understand that there are both record side income and publishing income. The 3% your referring to is usually called points, these are dealt within the royalties received from the record side of a song, so album sales, streams per cost etc. The publishing side include income generated from royalties gained from radio play, streams etc. Within publishing splits the producers generally get 50% within the splits. Whatever is generated from radio royalties the producer will recieve 50% and if you are a published producer your publisher will take a percentage of that depending on the deal you sign with them. You normally get your publishing royalties statements from ASCAP or BMI. Theres a lot more money involved and the producer would have got a lot more for a hit song than you stated.

3%??? This video failed because you didn't speak about writing and publishing share. That's where the big checks are. You spoke about everything but the most important check. You're strictly coming from a streaming perspective, but you failed to discuss radio spins, mechanical and sync royalties.... major fail. You really can't speak on this topic unless you've had a hit song and you receive publishing checks. Don't deceive producers with this misinformation. Producers are entitled to 50% of the publishing and writing share of a record, not 3%. This video is ludicrous. You mean beat makers? Beat Makers are NOT Producers. Producers are the big boss in the studio that oversee supervison of the record that hires Beat Makers, Writers, Engineers and Musicans to work for them. Timbo, Pharell, Scott Storch and Dre are Real Producers as they are both Songwriters that makes beats and Record Producers that direct and oversee the vision of the record. They are credited twice in production credits for both roles as "Writer" and "Producer". Producer's produce entire completed songs with vocal production, Arrangement and engineering etc known as the MASTER RECORDING.
Beat Makers just make beats for sell to an Artist known as the instrumental composition that have no involvement of overseeing production and recording nor do they make entire songs. They are Co-Writers.

as a person that makes beats, producers don’t get the recognition that they deserve as artists do (rappers / singers) but we’re starting to get shine though, a lot of popular songs are just catchy because the instrumental but still I’m not gonna let this stop me from making beats and such cause it started as a hobby, now I kinda do it as a passion.
You mean a bunch of beat makers? Beat makers are NOT Producers, they are Songwriters and Composers that program beats, thats it. Publishing companies, BMI and ASCAP classifies them as Songwriters and Composers when it comes to mechanical royalities. I'm registered as a Composer with ASCAP. A Producer is some one that directs oversees recording sessions that works with the artist in the studio like the Quincy Jones. They see through the whole visionary of the record, coach the artist to get a good vocal peformance out of them, give input throughout the recording process make the record sound as best as possible. I'm a Real Producer because i do both roles as i don't just sit and make beats. I'm what you call a Songwriter/Producer. Most Hip Hop Producers started out as beat makers before taking over the acting role as a Record Producer. Thats why Scott Storch, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Dr. Dre, Bryan-Michael Cox, J.R Rotem are all credited twice in production credits for both acting roles as they are both Songwriters and Record Producers.

This is mainly because people confuse a beat maker with a producer. Quincy Jones is a producer, Diddy, Kanye, and Rick Reuben are producers. A person selling or leasing beats online or in person and selling kits and that's it is a "beat maker"... big difference. You Don't see Quincy and Rick or Diddy (even Dame Dash produced) tripping about money do you? They are the song! Diddy is Juicy, Rick is 99 Problems, Quincy and Michael (Mike self produced) are "Thriller". They didn't just make the beat... they contoured and directed the entire song.
YEP. Murda Beats and Sonny Digital are just a bunch of Beat Makers NOT Record Producer's. Sonny Digital is even signed to a Publishing deal with Universal Publishing. ONLY WRITERS GET PUBLISHING DEALS. Record Producer's and Engineer's get directly hired by the Record company that requires to physically work in a Recording Studio. Scott Storch was credited as Writer for Still Dre as the Co-Writer of the beat. A Record Producer is like a "Film Director" that works directly with the vocalist and Engineer in the studio that oversees production and recording of the Master Recording. Timbaland was also credited as Writer for the beat as the Co-writer and Justin credited as Writer for the lyrics he wrote as the other half of Co-Writing the song. They all split their 50/50 Publishing royalty share for Co-Writing. Timbaland and Scott Storch was credited again as Co- Producer's for overseeing, coordinating the session and producing the entire song known as the Master Recording. String section arrangement for "Cry Me A River" was conducted by Larry Gold with The Southwest Chamber Orchestra. Song was recorded and mixed by Jimmy Douglas in Timbaland's studio. Producer's produce entire songs known as the MASTER RECORDING while Beat Makers just make beats, the underlying musical composition before it becomes a Master Recording with vocals and everything arranged. Record Producer's may also ask for "Point's" like 3% of Artist royalties of the suggested retail list price (SRLP) of record sales for Producing the entire Master Recording. Since Timbo, Scott and Pharrell are also Co-Writers they generally ask for Publishing instead. It also irritates me when all these beat makers keep calling themselves "Producer's" or claimed that they "produced" for a big name major artist when in reality they aint. They simply just made a beat for an Artist as a Co-Writer for the song not produced for them. Only real Producer's work directly with the artist in the studio overseeing recording and production. I started off making beats in 2004 before I became a Record Producer in 2008 working directly with my first artist in the studio one on one. Before I became a Producer, I've made many mistakes in the past as I've been burned by many artist selling beats and not getting fully paid for them. I started having people sign Producer/Artist Production Agreement contracts for every artist I work with. Beat Makers need to learn how to start working directly with the artist in the studio as Scott Storch said you don't want to be just a track maker if you're going call yourself a Producer on a track. He said you probably ain't gonna get paid as people would try to use the Beat as long as they can which is why he don't send beats out to people since he's a Real Producer. *"In terms of working with the artist or vocalist, you know its important to come back and stay through with that, if you're going to call yourself a producer on a track. You know, you don't want to be just a track maker. To be a Producer, you wanna follow through and you know, push the artist and get the best record possible because its only going to help you. A Real Producer sees the whole thing through and has input through the whole vision of the finished record, from you know, what the melody is going to be on top, you know you, at least collaborate with some body on that, have an input on that, you know, sit there behind the board, trying to get a good vocals out of somebody, you know, or at least monitor the situations. - Scott Storch"*

Many Grammy Award Winning Audio Engineers are dual role Producer/Engineers esp since the two roles are heavily involved in a Recording Studio environment that work along side each other. A "Song" "Writer" in sense is a Composer that writes (instrumental music) or (lyrics) in a song format opposed to a Film Composer that generally does not compose music in a form of a song. You will always see the term Writer attached to thier job title. Yes it may confuse some people thinking that they are a Songwriter that write the (LYRICS) when really it's pertaining to (BEAT MAKING) as the "Co-Writer" since Beat Makers are considered Writers, in other words, "Track-writers". Most people wouldn't know the difference and also just assume their "Producer" job title is for making beats when really it's not. There is a reason for why they have those two titles is because they are Traditional Record Producer's that are heavily involved in the Co-Writing process such as making beats, compared to a Rock Producer that would only oversee the direction of the Record that would only receive one credit as Producer and nothing else. Hip Hop Producer's are basically wearing two hats as the Producer and Co-Writer as they get both Producer and Songwriting credits. I think that where the misconception comes from alot of Beat Makers calling themselves Producer's because they saw Timbo or Dre make beats, not knowing that those guys are wearing another hat as they are real Producer's when they aren't making beats.That's why you see Scott Storch, Dre, Timbaland, Pharrell or Rodney Jenkins credited as "Writer" and "Producer" in production credits. When you look closely at Production credits you will generally see Beat Makers or Record Producer's that make the beats credited as Writer, some times Composer, Instrumentation, Keyboards or Drum Programming. Producer credits only relates to Producer's that produce entire songs such as the MASTER RECORDING, ones the oversaw the direction of the Record. If they are Co-Writers, they will receive additional songwriting credits. Then you have Hip Hop Producer's like P-Diddy that doesn't make beats as he oversees the direction of the record, hint MTV Making The Band. Beat Makers are NOT Producers. Producers are managment directing roles in the studio, they don't even make beats. They are directors that over see recording sessions. Beat Makers are Songwriters and Programmers.
Mostly its 50/50 on a Song(you and the Artist) Two Ways: you can publish and collect the royalties by yourself thru Ascap and Harry Fox(Performance/mechanical) TH-cam Networks(Digital and Mostly 25-15% Fee) and Soundexchange.(Digital/satellite) so you would almost get your 50%(- some small fee's) or you sign with a publishing company but they will take a Fee(20%) from your 50%, but i'm not sure if they maybe collect some more royalties and they help you with all the registration process which can be stressful. So at the end it's up to you how you handle your splits etc.

Just to quickly throw out. You have the math all wrong on the 100m views @ $3 CPM. CPM is not $3 per 1,000 views. It’s 1,000 monetized views. I have the same CPM, and for a video around he length of a song. I would make around $75,000 from 100m views. Other than that good vid!
CPM rates differ depending on a lot of factors. Channel size,standing and time of year etc

The only reason why Pharrell Williams, Bryan-Micheal Cox, Rodney Jerkins, Timbaland or Scott Storch gets those is because they are both Songwriters and Record Producers that wears two different hats. Most Hip Hop Producers started out as Beat Makers before taking over the acting role as a Record Producer. Beat Makers are the same thing as Songwriters and Composers while Record Producers are managment directing roles that direct and oversee recording sessions, working directly with the artist in the studio. Record Producers get PPD or SRLP royalites which is 3% or 4%. Beat Makers that just make beats and thats it would not get these types of Royalites since they are NOT Producers. So unless you are wearing both hats as a Beat Maker and a Record Producer, is the only way you would get both royalites or one of the the other.

Did you just make all that up as you went along? You almost had it right but you were a little off. A "beat maker" is a producer and a producer is a songwriter/composer. Whoever creates the music behind the lyrics, is the producer. A songwriter and a producer means the same thing, on a split sheet. A producer is also considered a "composer". There is no such thing as a "beat maker", when it comes to getting paid. Only record labels, performers, publishers, songwriters/composers (producers), receive music royalties. The main difference between a composer and a songwriter is that, the composer is entitled to 50% of the record. But like I said, a composer is a "songwriter". There is no Producer = DIrector. "Directors" don't get music royalties. Directors are for music videos.

Here's my input on the difference between a Producer Vs a Beat Maker. I started making beats in 2004 before i took over the acting role as a Record Producer in 2008 working with my very first artist one on one in the studio. Record Producers are similar to a Film Director that directs and oversees recording sessions. That's what I mean as "Director" like the Quincy Jones. As a Real Producer, I never send beats off to people and then call yourself a Producer. I always work directly with the artist and the audio engineer in the studio, giving my feedback and input through out the entire recording process. I coach the artist and give them advice to get the best vocal performance out of them. I tell them how I want them to sing or rap a certain way. If I'm not feeling it, I make them do another take until its right. I also guide and direct the engineer how i want the mix to sound. I'm also involved in vocal and song arrangement etc. That's what a Producer does oversees the whole thing from start to finish as they are the big boss. Making beats doesn't make you a producer, it makes you just a track maker if that's all you do. As Timbo said in one of his interviews, "I don’t think we have producers anymore, I think we have great programmers" as hes referring to this current generation of hip-hop producers that are nothing more than programmers or beat makers. I'm also a registered ASCAP Member registered as a Songwriter and Composer for my Mechanical/Peformance royalties for beats. Beat Making falls under the Songwriting umbrella as its part of the Songwriting Pre-Production process. Producers are there to lance the record together with a beat or backing track and a vocalist.There's a reason why Scott Storch, Dr. Dre, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Bryan-Michael Cox are all credited twice in production credits for both roles as they are both Songwriters and Record Producers. Beat Makers are credited as Writer, Composer, Instrumentation, Programmer or Keyboards in production credits. Record Producers are credited as Producer for directing and overseeing the entire song. I do both roles! Then you have Beyonce Knowles that is also an acting role Vocal Producer as she Co-Produced the entire 2001 Survivor Album and the 2016 Lemonade Album. She was also the Executive Producer as well. There are only three types of Producers that exist in the music industry. Record Producer aka Music Producer, Vocal Producer and Executive Producer. Missy Elliott and Mary J. Bilge are also acting role Vocal Producers as you see them credited as Producer for many of their own songs. Missy Elliott Co-Produced Mya - "My Love is like... Wo" and she doesn't make beats. P-Diddy is a Record Producer and he doesn't make beats. Hope that makes sense.

I absolutely agree with your research and numbers here, but I think you got something a little bit wrong here. Murda and Cubeatz are Not (only) the producers of the Song, they are also the songwriters which means they get a lot more money. The 3 points estimate is about right for a Music producer.
A songwriter can even earn up to 50% of performance/mechanical royalties for example if he’s the lyricist + beatmaker/composer. And you have to take in mind they get a big advance also. Songwriters usually are signed to big publishers which take about 50% of all their earnings.

Well Murda and them aren't really real Producer's. They are just Programmers as they don't have the training to know how to direct and control the recording sessions. A real Producer collaborates with the Vocalist and Engineer in the studio that has input on the song. They help the Artist realize their vision. Murda does nothing in the studio as he just sits around. He said in an interview that he was off partying in another room while the Artist was in a recording session. The Engineer was basically wearing the Producer's hat.

A writer always gets the most money from a song. That’s why Lennon, Cobain, Tupac, earned immense amounts when they was alive. Earned even more After death. My advice, get a writing credit on any song your working on! A decent, respectable artist, should let you add a few words or lyrics to the song. That’s adding more %%% to your overall revenue from the song.

You mean per Master Recording? Scott Storch is a real Record Producer like the Quincy Jones not a track maker as he doesn't sell beats. Record Producer's are offered an Advance for the Masters they produce. Many times it's comming out of the Recording budget as an all-in. Scott Storch also gets Points on an Album as well as his Publishing net on the back end as the Co-Writer of the song.

The Video is enitrely backwards. First of all Beat Makers and Producers are NOT the same thing. Beat Makers are technically the same thing a Songwriters and Composers as it falls under the Songwriting Umbrella thats part of the Pre-Production process. They get all the same Publishing rights and royalites as Lyrical Songwriters. 50/50 split Publisher owns 50% of Publishing. Track Writer (Beat)=25% + Top-Liner(Lyrics)=25%
=100% (Publisher=50%)/(Writers=50%). Record Producer are mangment directing roles in the recording studio as they have nothing to do with making beats. Real Record Producers like myself get what is called "Producer Points" or simply Producer royalities. That 3% of what the video refference is for record sales or 20% of Artist Royalites. These types of royalites are negotiable. Most Hip Hop Producers started out as Beat Makers before taking over the acting tradtional record producers role.
