Just saw them in London on 4th October and I've got some years on you! We were caning it in the mosh pit but the majority of the crowd were a bunch of stiffs
@Lord Protector, the dandy warhols come down is a great record, but a bit too long for my taste. 13 tales just felt more cohesive as an album and it's flow. They both have great songs though, so it's a tough one to decide. Side note, their 3 most recent records: this machine, distortland, and why you so crazy are actually very good. Not on the level of 13 tales, but such an improvement to odditorium and Earth to the dandys. Each one makes me more excited about the band again.
This song makes me feel happy, free, safe, warm, cold, sad, broken, loved, lost, fulfilled and empty all at the same time. It's a good feeling though. Not many songs can do this to you... I am blessed with the Dandy Warhols music being a part of my life.
The Dandy always makes me simultaneously happy and sad. Their music is the perfect blend of joy and melancholia. I always see the Dandys when they come to town.
Well, I'm 75 and this is the greatest song with a brilliant and raw video I've ever seen, and I've seen a few. Refreshing and cleverly not overproduced.
Opinions vary. If one person thinks 'it's one of the best songs ever written', then they are just entitled to think that, just as much as the people that rate Sgt Peppers & Exile.
this band is just so underated. I accidently found them in 2000 and I never get tired of these gorgeous, unique, talented musicians! I love you xxxxxxx saved my life!
just got back with my teenage sweetheart from 37 years ago and we both love this band and had both never heard of them before this year (2019) cherry on the icing on a truly wonderful reunion of two souls destined for each other.
Michael Haring I agree, the D is the home chord & still dominates so it still feels minor even with the passing major chords... probably what draws me to this song. I do like the Dsus2 passing chord, which goes right back to D minor again. This is 1 of those songs I can hardly listen to without wanting to strum along on my acoustic ;-)
Sitting here. Staring at the ppl passing by. This song. Don't you wish someone would just reach out into your brains at times like this? This song is the perfect background song for like...life, man.
Went to see them at a small gig in Leicester UK. When Peter H started to play the opening sliding chords the hairs stuck up on the back of your neck, a shiver runs down your spine, the audience drops quiet and you're in musical ecstasy.
But seriously to think the synth-infused acoustic reverberated masterpieces this band puts out is anything compared to the long-forgotten adidas crap pseudo-punk rap from the early 2000's is downright an insult to any musician.
One of my favorite songs. Still remember seeing them at the Cats Cradle in Chapel Hill in 2006, one of the best. I got drunk and after the show told the guitar player that they are the "saviors of rock and roll", much to the amusement of my friends who still make fun of me about it.
This band just always gets the tempo just right. They don't run away with it. Bohemian the same way. You feel like it is going fast but it really isn't. It grabs you, leads you into the next
the span where they focus on the girl... sitting there.... lost in thought... thinking of past mistakes, loves lost, things that could be, or whatever else. A great video for a great song
This song is an anthem that represents happier times and marked a major turning point at which my life moved in a totally different direction. I am so grateful for their music.
2024 anyone? This came out at the height of a bad drug addiction .. From 1998-2005 it was the music that kept me going ..This one made me think about how isolating being a heroin addict was .. So glad I got out relatively unscathed !
At my age..54. I have seen seen this video before but it is relevance of a high class club..at about 2 o clock in the afternoon..just rehearsal and everyone in attendance is preparing..the guy with the Holla hup...is just excited to be there..also the bar tender..is just preparing
Clip à l'ambiance lascive et hypnotique. On se surprend à ne plus vouloir en sortir sans se rappeler à quel moment on s'est fait happer . Jolis plans serrés. Et cette trompette... Godless!
For those of you who love this song, listen to the version on the live album 13 tales from Urban Bohemia from 2014. I listen to it over and over. It is so good. The harmonies at the end give me chills.
This song makes me remember the years I used to go to bars and discotheques, it brings me back so many beautiful memories. One of your best songs ever.❤❤
I listened to the DW’s on the radio back in the 1990s and only seeing video clips now in 2024. It occurs to me that the extras in the Godless videos look very much like those in Bohemian like you. Reminds me of a Saul Goodman commercial so it’s all very good. #GenX
I really like how the video carries that feeling of disconnectedness; it mirrors the strangeness of the musical arrangement. Love that abstract zone-out part in the middle of the song. There's something suggestive of David Lynch's films or Edward Hopper's paintings in it. Great track.
sassulusmagnus , I'm really really modest also perfect therefore definitely correct about music always have been always will be I totally agree with your opinion. Stig🎧.
I will never forget the impact of this album had on me. My daughter was 7 years old and I was asking her if it would be a good idea to make a career change during a very hard time in life. You get some very introspective answers from a 7 year old.
Any first year player could play that trumpet part(minus the ability for such a great tone). At the same time that’s what makes it a perfect fit for the song. When simplicity and beauty intertwine.
It's 2024 and time for the Dandy Warhols to reassemble this cast: The girl who orders the drink at the bar, the couple who kiss, the hula hoop guy, and my favorite, the bartender.
great kick back. This band was smooth. They had the touch and feel of a band, not just keeping time or being in key. They got the transitions and tempo perfectly. They played individually but together
Going to see these lot tomorrow supporting Hoodoo Gurus with the eldest daughter and missus, AFL Grand Final on Saturday with best mates and then Midnight Oil on their farewell tour on Sunday. I think I might be liverless come Monday.
Esta canción me sabe a idas y venidas en coche por Mallorca, en un verano que supuso descubrimientos tras descubrimientos, por las montañas y calas de la isla, dejándome sorprender y ser sorprendido. Pena que esos tiempos no regresen de nuevo.
Diamond Dogs meet George Harrison. This is the first DW song I heard and I've been a Dandy ever since, I'm 65.
Saw them live last week in Perth Australia, waited 25 years. It was great
Never too old to have fun.
Intro: He's So Fine (Harrison lyrics). Not a rip, a contrast.

I’ll be 67 in a few days. Been listening to them for a long time. I’ll be listening for a long time too.
Sounds a bit like my sweet lord George Harrison.
Nice tune
2024 and this song still rocks! Magical forever!
Totally rocks,
I came for The Dandys, stayed around for the hula hoop
Are we all in agreement that "Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia" is The Dandy Warhols' masterpiece?
I would say The Dandy Warhols Come Down.

yep
let's say thanks to minor chords hhhhh
The mystery of the kick this song has goes beyond the chords
Nail on the head.
Thanks. Parts of this video were filmed in a bar I used to be involved with.
The Dandy always makes me simultaneously happy and sad. Their music is the perfect blend of joy and melancholia. I always see the Dandys when they come to town.
me too ! grtz from Belgium
Super nostalgic
They give me what I call 'Buddha tears'...
Never thought of their stuff that way: makes sense...
"makes me simultaneously happy and sad" Yep...

Those beautiful horns in this indie rock masterpiece is genius 🤘🏽
This song is a warm hug that you need at the end of bad day.
Just before you stick your vein

this song is dandy

Masterpiece.
One of my favourite tracks of all time!
th-cam.com/video/MNA26qn2vnA/w-d-xo.html
I find myself mindlessly whistling this song constantly. Its an anthem that is never far from the surface
This song makes me feel like I've wasted my life as I get older.
Stop 😢
this band is just so underated. I accidently found them in 2000 and I never get tired of these gorgeous, unique, talented musicians! I love you xxxxxxx saved my life!
instant respect for a fellow dandy lover x

just got back with my teenage sweetheart from 37 years ago and we both love this band and had both never heard of them before this year (2019) cherry on the icing on a truly wonderful reunion of two souls destined for each other.
This song just gets better with age !!!
Timeless classic!!!!
Ennio Morricone-esque break in the mid section makes this groovy tune a haunting masterpiece of high-camp foppery. Dandies at their best.... ❤
Love it
Baddest day in my life…Hangin' on…❤🩹
Keep hanging on. You've got this sweetie 🫂❤️
Bless you…this too will pass
This needs be used in the closing credits of a movie with an ambiguous ending.
I 2nd that.
Yes a film I want my book made into a film ..
About my 7 years of H addiction .. This came out during the peak of my addiction 😢
The deliberate and apathetic minor chords, the trumpet, and the seedy lounge setting... Perfect in every way. :-) Fantastic song.
I'll have a double Jameson, straight up please.
***** Incredible... I thought for sure there'd be more minors in there. That initial Dm sets the whole tone
Have to pass on that tall blood, :)
- you strum, - - and I've only just put my trumpet down !
The trumpet solo (2:55-3:30) is so "spaghetti western"...such a refined badass touch!
Sitting here. Staring at the ppl passing by. This song. Don't you wish someone would just reach out into your brains at times like this? This song is the perfect background song for like...life, man.
I remember when, I used to buy CD's. I was a consumer of the "Dandy Warhols".

This song opened their set at The Forum in Melbourne in the early 2000's, when they toured Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia . It was awesome.
The overall clip is a splendor but the girl at the bar in black dress is just an unparallelled abyssal beauty, her sight corrodes my very soul
Nice cold sore
I'm tortured still to this day.. the heart never forgets. :)
Anyone listening to this outstanding song in 2021?
I am!
The Dandys have 4 or 5 incredibly good, well composed songs and this is one of them for sure.
Yup - I must agree...But at least they're not those doorknobs known as Limp Bizkit.

I don't know what it is about this song, but it takes you somewhere else.
Nothing visually expresses "What comes around, goes around" better than a hula hoop.

the span where they focus on the girl... sitting there.... lost in thought... thinking of past mistakes, loves lost, things that could be, or whatever else. A great video for a great song
There's a mellow and melancholy feel to this song and the trumpets add so much, the dandies always have unique and interesting tracks.
The year is 3030 and this is still a banger
